LA Police Gear 3 Day Backpack 2.0

SKU #: LAPG-BG-3DayPack
MSRP: $60.00

The LA Police Gear 3 Day Backpack 2.0 takes everything you loved from our original 3 Day Backpack and improves on the design by adding new, exciting features.

Just like the original, the 2.0 has tons of room for your gear, and is MOLLE compatible in case you need to strap on external pouches. The shoulder straps make carrying heavier loads a breeze and the overall design and straps help distribute all of the weight evenly, while the new yoke system makes carrying the pack more comfortable than ever. Also new to the pack is a mesh padded back that will enhance comfort and breathability. The inside of the pack is lined with loop so you can attach all our pouches or other hooked back items for greater organization.

Last but definitely not least, we have added a new feature to the straps of the Atlas line that allows you to buckle in our LAPG Tactical Chest Pack Attachment directly to the backpack. The Chest Pack is a versatile carrying system that basically gives the storage of another backpack. Great for CCW, small items, or anything you can think of!

    Awesome pack
I have used the original pack 5 days a week for 2 years now. It has just now shown signs of wear by the stitching letting go at the top of the shoulder strap. This company stands behind its product. They now have the 2.0 version which I'm sure is even better but hard to believe you could beat the original design. This pack is absolutely amazing and the price beats all you will ever find. Thanks again for a wonderful affordable pack. Once I showed it around the office 3 more officers bought a total of 5 packs. You'll know how good it is when you see and feel it. Pockets are roomy. Main compartment has plenty of room. Unlike one review I read, my laptop fits perfectly with no sagging issues. I love this pack.
ProsAll of it to include price.
    ConsNone whatsoever.

Just purchased a foilage 2.0 version of this pack. My original versions seem much sturdier. The 2.0 material seems much thinner. The new features are great but it looks like construction quality decreased.

i wouldn't recommend if you plan to transport a laptop
If you are looking for a backpack that can comfortably transport your laptop, keep looking...this one isn't for you. It seems durable, but with no internal laptop sleeve or real structure to the pack, the laptop will cause the bottom of the pack to protrude and hit you in the rear as you walk. I've tried every adjustment I can think of and even email support to see if they had any tips, but I never heard back. This is rather disappointing, considering the product demo clearly shows laptop being transported in the pack.
ConsPoor design, considering the majority of people are going to want to carry a laptop, at least occasionally.

Ridiculous Value here and on all LAPG Bags.
It is hard for me to understand why any other outfit even tries to compete with LAPG on bags. I have a bunch of LAPG bags and my latest is one of these 3 Day Bags which is now my front line Bug Out Bag "A". For $40 really? Maxpedition wants nearly 3X that for less quality and utility. This is also the most expensive Bag I have bought from them. Every single bag I have bought with the LAPG Name on it has been of the highest quality I can find anywhere. They are every bit the equal to Eberlestock bags in every way. I have the older slightly smaller LAPG bag like this which used to be my Bug Out Bag, $19.95 on Sale!!! but I wanted just a little more room so I got this one. The previous bag has been re-tasked as my Precision Rifle Bag. All these bags are completely adaptable to whatever task you want to assign them from carrying your lifesaving equipment to carrying books for school. They are so well made that they will easily outlast anything else I have seen on the market. They also have a "Waist Belt" which with the addition of one of the Padded Utility Belts allows you to carry Heavier Loads more comfortably, or you can just use it as it is. This is good stuff that will outlast most of us.
ProsExcellent Design, Quality and Materials. Functionality second to none.
ConsToo well made for this price.

    Nice bag
I originally bought this bag so I could lug all of my nursing books around. It’s huge, so it worked out great. It’s big enough to fit most of my stuff without it looking overly full. I plan on using it for camping/hiking too. It doesn’t have a place for a name tape, but I bought a strip from amazon so it all worked out. The material feels a little cheap, but I’m sure once it’s broken in it’ll feel less stiff. I like it, a lot. It’s perfect for the price! ($40.00)

    Horrible quality
The design of this bag is pretty good especially in the field. BUT!!!! My 3rd time using it I went to grab my flashlight out of it and noticed the zipper had completely blown out of it. I kept using the small pouches and the EXACT same thing happened to those zippers. I didn’t even have a lot of gear or anything heavy in the bag

    Ok, but not great
I bought this as a gift for my 21 y/o nephew. Within 6 months the interior of the bag started to dry crack now there's always dry pieces everywhere. The outer material is great and has held up over great. My nephew still loves the bag but hates the mess.
ProsOuter bag eat to clean very tough.

    Finally falling apart
I bought this pack five or six years ago on sale for $30. It is exactly as described; a three day pack. I've taken a number of weekend trips in it, it makes a great carry on and has prevented me from checking in luggage numerous times. It's YUGE, the pockets are roomy as Hell, and it has plenty of attachment molle points. I wore my pack out as it's starting to fray at some seams, but even had I paid double the price, it would've been a great value. Matter fact, I'm only here to buy another. Best of luck.
    ProsAll of it. It's awesome.

    Buy it! Now!
I love this bag! I bought it because my Fieldline bag was too small to hold all my work stuff. It would all fit but, it would be about to bust a zipper. I even had a MOLLE pouch on it just so I could have my med kit with me. I finally broke down and bought this bag. I wish I had sooner! This thing holds EVERYTHING and more for my shift! Presently this is what I have in it: Stab vest, duty belt, 6 can lunchbag, water bottle, pens, pads of notebook paper, a book, and other small items like Tums and lip balm. I could keep going but, you don't care about the details. I am kicking myself I didn't get it sooner. I paid the same price for this bag as I did my old one. The only down side (And not a huge deal) there are only 4 compartments. 2 big pockets on the front, the main part, and a zippered mesh one inside of it. Theres not anything bad I can really say beyond that. The straps are comfy and its spacious. Its pretty much the perfect work bag. Also, theres no Velcro for morale patchs, think I'll live though.
ProsTons of storage Comfortable to carry
ConsMaybe a couple more pockets for small items.

The inner pocket (laptop/tablet divider?) works perfectly to hold a bladder and the covered "holes" at the top are perfect a pass-through for the hose. The ONLY problem I ever had with the bladder in mine was with it bunching up at the bottom of that pocket. A quick trip a local tailor's shop (could've done it at home but the cost was not that much) and I had a hook/loop point mounted above the pocket on the inside to attach the bladder to and keep it up-right and elongated. No more pinching and binding the hose at the bottom of the bag. Works GREAT to hold a fully functional bladder set up.

To ask the obvious, I understand that it is hydration bladder compatible. But, I was also wondering if you have a Molle-type holder that I attach to the sides to carry another water bottle. I plan to use it for fall hunting. Also, I hike with a weight plate this time of year, and I was wondering if this is pack is wide enough / heavy enough to hold a 25# plate. Thank
    1 Answers
Yes there are many options for that set up, you can find our MOLLE pouches here: As far as the plate goes I’m assuming you’re referring to a 25lb plate? Your question came through with a “#”. That will depend on the size of the plate but this pack will certainly take the weight.

The older version of this pack, I wouldn't try it at all, but the recent one I bought for my son would work. Depending on your total weight, I wouldn't go above the 20 pound weight. The new packs have fixed my prior concerns. I would out the plate in the section for the bladder.

He's been using it now for 2 weeks and loves it. On top of that, his back "problem" has eased thanks to the wider shoulder straps, breast cross clip & waist strap.

Just received this yesterday -- no hard frame, inside or out. No backplate. Inside the "hydration flap" there is a piece of fairly dense foam the width and height of the bag to act as back padding against the backside mesh. If you need the pack stiffened, and don't sweat the loss of space, you can stick a Molle 2 rucksack frame in there, less space lost if you get the Blackhawk internal frame kit. For either, you may have to trim to fit. If you are handy, you can fashion a frame from a piece of 1/4" plywood (tape the edges to reduce splintering). What I do? I find a cheap plastic cutting board that will fit in the back of the main bucket, then, at camp, I have a cutting/cooking/serving/tabletop! Speaking of buckets, if you can round up a Rubbermaid or similar trash can (rectangular) that fits, you can put this inside, load it with your gear and when you camp, if you need a bucket for washup or water collection or browse collecting, you can use the bin separately from your pack.

from Fort Worth, TX is firm but bendable. If you wanted to, buy some compression straps and weave them through the Molle on the bottom and front of the pack...that way you could tighten the straps and compress the top edge of the pack down when it's lying down on the floor of the plane. Hope that helps.

I weighed mine since my wife complains of the weight. It's 4.2lbs empty. Yes, it's a fairly heavy backpack due to its sturdiness.

It would be a good match for you. It may weigh a couple of pounds, but the way it is constructed, the weight of your items will be distributed will by far make up for the weight of the bag.

I am 5' 2" woman. Is this pack too "long" for me? What would you all recommend for me?
    3 Answers
It's not to long for you I can promise you that. It all depends on what you are using it for. I'm using as a riding bag when I take trips home on my motorcycle and it sit perfectly well.

The backpack is actually quite short. I am 5 ft 9 and I can not use the waist strap it is if you intend to use it with the waist strap it is a good fit for a shorter person.

How much weight can this bag carry?

The bag looks to be well built so I would say 50 pounds could be carried. How comfortable I don't know.

It's a very durable bag and holds up well with a good amount of weight. I have a few of these bags. I used one of them as my range bag for my handguns. I keep my handguns in the LA Police gear handgun bags(the $10 ones). I can fit 6 of those handguns bags, two set of eyes and ears, and several boxes of ammo in this bag. Between the guns and the ammo, it probably weighs 40+lbs. Been using it as a range bag for a long time now and so far no signs of wear in the stitching or handles. Zippers and straps still as good as the day I got it. I used another one of these bags when working two full time jobs commuting on a motorcycle 2 hours a day. Since I was going from job to job my bag was packed with laptop and accessories, 4 meals(16 hour days, eat every 4 hours) and a pair of shoes(wore boots while on the motorcyle) and it had room to spare. Not as much weight as the range bag, but again, never saw any wear in the stitching over the course of a year doing that. You can't find a better bang for your buck with the quality of this bag at the price.

It's frameless, so if you try to hump more than about 35-40 pounds, you'll soon be hurting.

I've bought two of these. The first one I bought I gave to my boy. He was 12 and still has it. It has contained at least 30lbs of gear. That being said it could hold much more. I'd say if you're on the fence just go for it. You won't be disappointed.

My husband carries about 50 pounds in it. It is too heavy for me on long trips to carry that much weight, but I am small and not as strong, but I even I can carry it for awhile that full.

About that backpack. I have a usgi molle ii canteen pouch/general purpose pouch. I have my army canteen, cup, stove, and other small drink mixes and lids. I have not weighed the pouch yet as I have not gotten time to buy a new battery for my digital scale. Just by approx. weigiht I would estimate by pouch to weight approx 3.5-4.0lbs. Be safe and call it 4lbs. Would the pals webbing on the side of the backpack handle that much weight?
    2 Answers
I can't 100% guarantee it would because I don't have that gear, but I'm betting it would handle it no problem. The molle is thick and solid, I bought this bag to replace a bug out gear pack i bought 6 years ago at a px in camp pendleton. The lapg pack feels much more solid and well built at half the price.

I have never had a problem with my bag. Excellent product and made very durable. I handed my 1st bag to a family member. Couldn't beat the price. Just the waist band strap has no place to hold it if not in use. Other than that. Its a excellent bag. I would recommend this bag to anyone. You will be happy with the purchase

I have yet to take mine out for its intended purpose (hunting), but I was very impressed with the quality. I have found that the quality for the price of the LA Police Gear brand is pretty unbeatable.

I bought my first LA Police Gear 3 Day Backpack in 2011. I carry it every day to go to work. I keep in it my Trauma Kit (as well as additional Israeli bandages, Halo seals and combat gauze), water, food, foldable shovel, additional rescue items and my sports gear. I do not take special care of my backpack; however, I protect it when it rains since it is not waterproof. The backpack shows some signs of wear and tear. The only place where there is a ripped seam is at the base of the zipper of the main compartment at zipper placket level. Because I have been happy since then, I bought a second one for my son. It is a good quality/price ratio. So far, no problem with the stitching where the shoulder straps meet the bottom of the backpack
