    It is cordage. Yes, please.
It is cordage. Not the fanciest stuff in your kit, but you are glad you have it if you need it. It weighs ounces (if that much), and takes up roughly the same space as a Surefire P2X.
ProsIt is cordage. It is always good to have.

    Red is vibrant!
I got this in red to hold up my stockings. Figured if 550 can hold up sheets, it can hold up Christmas stockings. Worked great! I had so much extra, I used it for wrapping presents. The color is super vibrant and is made of sturdy material. I'll be buying this again for my next deployment.

The description indicated 7 strands. Are there 3 yarns per stand or 2?
    4 Answers
If I'm looking at the right one (I've spoled all my paracord) it's 2 yarn per strand.

If there are 2 yarns per strand, not 3, this is NOT Mil-Spec. It's the commercial grade. The MIL-SPEC stuff has three yarns per strand. The only place I have found that sells the MIL-SPEC stuff routinely is Cabelas. It's about twice as expensive as non MIL-SPEC cord.

Try Best Glide. Theirs is 7 strands. Within that is 3. And within each of the 3 is more than I can count. It's the real deal.

    Are these Paracords Mil spec?
    2 Answers
Tru-Spec has informed us that this paracord is Mil-Spec. It is 550 cord (550 lb tensile strength) with the 7 braded strands of nylon running up the center (core) of the cord and it is manufactured in the U.S.
    on March 22, 2013
Somebody's wrong here, then... According to the earlier answers, Mil-Spec paracord must have yarns per strand, yet this cord only has ! (I suspect that this difference would also have an effect on the tensile strength of the para cord. If Mil-Spec has a strength of 550 lbs with its 3 strands per yarn, then a cord with 2 strands per yarn should have a tensile strength that is less!)
