Description
The LX2 is a compact dual-output flashlight featuring a virtually indestructible power-regulated LED emitter, a Total Internal Reflection (TIR) lens, and a smooth fluted body design that takes it easy on clothing. The LX2's tactically-correct two-stage pushbutton tailcap switch lets you instantly select output level: press for a momentary-on 15-lumen long-runtime low beam suitable for general night use or close work; press further for a momentary-on 200-lumen high beam—ten times the light of a big two-D-cell flashlight; twist for constant-on low beam, twist further for constant-on high beam.

Features
  • Virtually indestructible LED emitter regulated to maximize output and runtime
  • Two output levels—high for maximum light, low for extended runtime
  • TIR lens produces tight beam with enough surround light for peripheral vision

Surefire True Stories - Illuminates Dog Poop and Saves Moms
Every night I take a walk with my mom and my dog, and I always carry my SureFire LX2 with me. I usually just use it for lighting up any dog waste I might step on, or just to light up the sidewalk.

I thought maybe I blew almost $200 on a light that could do the same job as a cheap D-cell light; however, one night proved me wrong. My mom was walking in the middle of the road, and there was a sports car that didn't have its headlights turned on. The car sped up and almost crashed into my mom—until I lit up the car with 200 lumens of blinding light and yelled "STOP!"

That night, my LX2 literally saved my mom's life.

    Decent Light but...
Having owned the LX2 for a few months now I decided it was time to post a review. I own multiple Surefire Flashlights and Weapon lights and after a bit of research thought the LX2 would be a good light to carry with me all the time. First the good, the two settings make the battery life a lot better than some other Surefires and I have yet to need to change them. The lower setting is good for around the house and the higher setting at 210 lumens is there if you need it. It's also not too bright like the Fury models. Now the bad and why I took two stars off. The LX2 arrived with a defective lens cap and would only engage the higher setting. I reached out to LA Police gear who had me contact Surefire. The first person I talked to at their technical support knew very little about their products and had never even heard of the LX2. I first thought I may have been using it wrong but he couldn't even tell me that. Finally he got someone else and their first guess was that it was a defective lens cap and they sent me another one. Only problem there was it took six weeks and they only sent it after I contacted them two more times. Not what I expected from Surefire. My other issue is the lens cap itself. The twist for constant on is hard to do one handed and getting to the higher setting in a tactical situation twisting to the brighter setting is impossible with a firearm in your other hand. It took way too long in just training, I don't even want to think about trying to do it if my life were to depend on it. I wonder why it's not like the fury models where you just push the button a three times to get the brighter setting and it's also off quickly if you need it. Still not a bad light.
ProsGood Battery life, not too bright
ConsPoor customer service from Surefire, not great in a tactical situation

    Super light!
Bought this over 4 years ago, use it almost every day. Works GREAT! Super bright, super handy. Fantastic customer service from Surefire. Batteries last a LONG time, even with frequent use. You know they finally need replacement when the high beam doesn't trigger (but they still last a long time on low beam until you replace them). Weak spot is the metal clip which can break if you leave it in your front pocket and sit in the car. The metal clip is cut to a smaller width just past where the insertion point interfaces with the flashlight, and that's where it breaks. They've redesigned it by making the length smaller but the design hasn't changed otherwise. Fear not, customer service will send you multiple replacements for free even years after your purchase. Amazing!
ProsExtremely bright. Long lasting batteries. Fantastic customer service.
ConsMetal clip can break if left in your front pocket when you sit in the car. But they will replace it for free for life.

    Worth the price
Excellent quality flashlight. I really like the simple operation of this light, no complicated interface to deal with.
    ProsMade in USA
ConsThe pocket clip appears to be a little frail.

I have had this happen with my EB1 backup. A new set of batteries may do the trick. Once the batteries are almost depleted my light will only work on low beam.
