    Bright and well constructed
I've had several of these units and absolutely love them! Like a mini spotlight! The 123 batteries make for a hot burn for a while. Just keep spares handy if you plan to be on full power for more than an hour. But, that is to be expected. I will continue buying these for our trucks and pack gear.

    Non-lethal persuader!
I purchased this light for the known reputation as a quality, powerful light. I keep it in my truck for "emergencies" and such. When encountered by a road raging couple, a quick "illumination" of the out-of-control man driving the car was like turning off a switch! He went from out of control to passive in a blink! Niiiiiice! I think that this thing is brighter than some car headlights! It is bigger than what I would want to carry on my belt. I think it would make a great light for a rifle. Probably more than is needed for a shotgun or for indoor use.....way more actually. Sale price made this a deal that I am happy to have taken advantage of. I really like this light and so do the folks that I've shown it to.
ProsVery bright. Light weight for the power. Quality construction.

    It's almost perfect....
This is an excellent, reliable and powerful little flashlight. It may not come with the best batteries installed because sometimes these things are stored in hot warehouses and who knows where else. You also want to check the date on the package when buying new batteries for it because it uses a less than common type of battery, so there's a bunch of old ones floating around in some stores. However, the batteries aren't expensive and they surprisingly last quite a while with moderate to heavy use. I would've never bought this flashlight for myself, but luckily I got it as a gift from someone and fell in love with it almost immediately. It's been about 8 to 9 months now using it regularly at work and I'm completely satisfied with it. I love it. It's rugged and tough too because.... It's been accidentally dropped out of a few attics, falling down to the concrete slab garage floors and it didn't even phase it. I've also dropped it into 2 different swimming pools and even into a toilet, and it didn't skip a beat. No water got inside of it either. This is the best personal carry flashlight I've ever owned and I'm certain I'd go right to the store to buy another if anything ever happened to the one I have now. This flashlight is almost perfect.... I say almost because nothing's perfect. Get one, trust me, you'll love it.

    Great flashlight!
I bought 1 - then I bought 3 more; 1 for me and 2 for friends of mine. I also own 2 of the ProTac HL's and just ordered the HL4 from LAPG. I was walking around my apartments one night and had called the Houston PD about a suspicious person. The cops rolled up and I pointed out, with my light, where I'd last seen him. Both cops wrote down the information the light (and the fact that Streamlight offers rechargeables in slimmer designs) because they were just blown away. The only negative I have seen is that, in testing, the light only shows 1100 lumen for a few seconds, then drops down to 600 lumen - but it stays constant for a long time. That is the case with many other flashlights, so Streamlight is not unique there. Of course, the companies do that so that they can claim 1100 lumen MAX. The same thing happens with the Streamlight ProTac HL, also. Still - for the money, performance, light quality and optimal spread, I won't have any other light.
ProsBRIGHT! Nice color to the light beam; not yellow or blue - pretty much just white sturdy case!
ConsHeats up quite a bit on extended use; however, my guess is that this is to be expected.

There are most likely holster the will fit. I have reseearched for that type of holsters and i found the nylon holster that comes with the light fits best. Also, if you want to use other holsters for this light, you must consider of you want to attach the rubber grip and take the final demensions into account. I think you should use the holster that comes with the light.

While I simply use the accompanying belt clip, I believe that you could use various pouches. The main handle of the flashlight is just shy of 1" diameter. You could use a nylon pouch for collapsible police baton. My favorite pouch for this use is the single magazine pouch, manufactured by Blue Force Gear. It is nearly a perfect fit and holds the light close to the body with some retention. Hope that helps.

The flashlight itself comes with a nylon holster which is rather thin and flimsy as in a "one size fits all" type of nylon holster with a simple velcro belt loop sewn to the back side. It will fit just about any belt width though I am not sure I would trust it to last long carrying it on a gun or duty belt. It does not seem that sturdy. I just use the holster to carry it in the car and use the belt clip on the flashlight while out in the field. For an open top, you could simply cut the nylon which covers the top bezel of the light in the holster. For duty use, I am going to have an open top kydex holster made for it. Hope it helps.

Is there a rechargeable battery that can be purchased for this light?
    1 Answers
According to our Streamlight Representative, their engineers do not recommend using rechargeable batteries in any of their lights due to the different chemistries in the batteries producing different maximum voltages. So it sounds like it would probably work, but you would lose any warranty you had for the light by doing so.

I test fitted what head down holsters we have to see if this flashlight would fit and unfortunately I was unable to find one that could fit this flashlight. The only other option would be a head up pouch. Or you could try using a baton/flashlight ring, but other than that it doesn't look like we have any options that are top down.

    2 Answers
no we would not recommend using rechargeable batteries with this light as these lights were designed to be powered with Standard CR123 batteries. use of rechargeable batteries may result in the light not functioning correctly or not producing the correct power output.
    Customer Service
    on July 2, 2014
Streamlight advises that this light is not supported by rechargeable cell technology. Not completely accurate but takes a little figuring out to do it. Cannot use that size lion battery due to voltage differences. Nominal voltage on standard lithium battery (cr123a) is about 2.5-2.55 volts while a rechargeable lion is nominal 3.6-3.7 volts. Total voltages would be 7.5-7.65 versus 10.95 ....... an obvious problem. Plus, reserve amps comes up short. That was my plan when I bought it and learned more afterwards. What WILL work is to use (2) 17500 rechargeable lion cells (about 1/2 again longer than cr123a) with total voltage of about 7.3 volts, slightly less but within tolerance. Might be just barely less bright but hardly noticeable. It works quite well for me since I use it for work very regularly on night shift. I carry both a charged spare pair of 17500s and a package of CR123s as emergency back-up. Invest in quality brand of rechargeables as some advertise a ridiculous and fraudulent amount of reserve capacity. Also, make sure to only buy units with protection circuit boards (PCB) which allows you to charge and walk away and also prevents over-draining. There is a worthwhile price difference.

Does this have a mount for an AR15 platform if I desired?
    1 Answers
The Barrel diameter of this light is 1 inch so any 1 inch flashlight mount should fit this light just fit to be able to attach it to your AR15 rail.

The 18650 is too large in diameter. It does work well for me with (2) 17500s.

Because this is not available yet, will the price rise once it becomes available? Because it looks like a good deal if you pre-order it...
    1 Answers
No as of right now we do not show that the price will change but these prices can change if the manufacture raises the cost of these item when it is officially released. if you pre-order now the price will be locked in but you will not pay for the item till it has arrived in stock and is preparing for shipment out to you.
