LA Police Gear Urban Ops Tactical Pants

MSRP: $39.99

New from LA Police Gear, the Urban Ops Tactical Pants are the byproduct of years of producing high quality tactical pants that don't break the bank. The Urban Ops Pants offer an improved fit and ultra-lightweight material, while still being tough, durable, and most of all useful. The pocket configuration has been optimized to let you access the gear you need quickly, and the brass locking YKK zipper and metal tac-stud have been put through the ringer to make sure they won't fail you.

The Urban Ops Pants are constructed from a lightweight yet resilient 65% polyester and 35% cotton rip-stop fabric, and include an elastic waistband so you are as comfortable as possible all day. The articulating knees and Gusseted crotch make these pants a great choice for those always on the move.

These pants are formally referred to as the Shrike Pants, but due to the name sounding similar to another pant, we decided to change the name. Sorry for any confusion!

  • 65% Polyester/35% Cotton rip-stop fabric
  • Fabric Weight: 7.5 oz.
  • Cargo Pockets w/LAPG pass through
  • Single front slip-pocket
  • Slip Back Pockets
  • Front pockets optimized for knife or flashlight clip
  • Articulating Knee
  • Elastic Waistband
  • YKK Locking Brass Zipper
  • Brass Tac-Stud closure - extremely reliable and tough
  • 6 belt loops - accommodates most belts up to 2 inches (belt not included)
  • Gusseted Crotch
  • Slanted Cargo Pocket Flaps For Seated Access
  • 22 individual bartacks to increase strength

  • Please Note: While the fit may vary from person to person, these pants are measured to the waist size, and the elastic waistband provides a 1" stretch. If you will be tucking in your shirt or using an Inside the Waistband holster we recommend going up 1 to 2 sizes to compensate for the needed space.

    I do not understand...
why, or how, these pants are less than 20 dollars. I work retail as a manager and am constantly on the lookout for some nice, functional pants that fall within dress code and yet can still get some use outside of work. Long gone are the days of the useless "do I have to, mom?" dress slacks. I even like these more than my previous pair of 5.11 tacticals. Much more, actually. These pants look and feel amazing. You can tell a lot of thought and research went into all of the subtle details of this design. I actually get more excited about going to work just because I get to wear these pants. Never have my subordinates feared me more. ...and all of this for under $20? What more do you want?
Pros- Perfect fit! Not too low in the crotch. Very comfortable, not too baggy, not too tight - just right. (I wear a 30/32) - Very functional pocket array while sustaining a professional look and feel. (Depending on how strict your dress code is on "cargos") - Front pocket slant works great for knife carry. - Lightweight material with the peace of mind that is ripstop. (Haven't worn long enough to really put to the test, but great to know) - Just read the description for yourself. It's all true.
    Cons- Suspicious price point

All different... I must have 7 or 8 pairs by now, each one is different... but for the price its okay.
ProsReasonable quality. This last group runs a little big!

    Overall good pants
I ordered these after reading mixed reviews online. I'm relatively satisfied with my purchase. First: fit is true to size. Color exactly what I wanted. Looks like they will wear well. Downside: I noticed will wearing them that they must have been reconditioned and/or seconds. The pocket o Next to my right knee was obviously sewn on crooked. You can actually see wear the original stitching had been pulled out and removed and the pocket was moved 1/2" to the right of the stitch. Now based on all the reviews I read la police is a nightmare to deal with on returns so I won't be returning. Just check your pants for stitching when you get them.

Good quality for a good price
The pants are good quality, and the price was right. I will likely purchase more.
    ProsGood fit, strong material.
ConsThe pockets could use a bit more design. I have some with a double cargo, the outer having the Velcro flap and the inner just being open. I like that design.

    Great pants
Love these. In my experience they run big. Some say they run small, so I ordered a size up in waist and length. Too big. Still wearable with a belt and taller shoes/boots. Otherwise they look and feel badass but still low-key compared to other brands. Sierra is a cool color. Green in some light, almost gray-green in others.

    Love these pants!
Great fit and comfort, look good, and clean up great. The Teflon coating makes them easy to care for. My wife loves that. After a day of landscaping the knees of her jeans were black and stained. Mine just brushed right off. So, we ordered her a pair of women's in a similar style. My only complaints: Make a pocket just for large cell phones. They turn sideways in the cargo pockets and make it uncomfortable when sitting. My second complaint...when I went to order more, it said this style is discontinued!!!! NOOOO!!!!! WHY?!?!?!
ProsAll around nice pants. Teflon coating
ConsNeed pockets just for large smart phones. They are discontinuing them.

It's actually 32w fully expanded. Believe me I ordered 3 of these. I'm 5'8" and 155lbs to give you an idea. I'm a size 32w for comfort with any other pants, and can wear a 30 or 31.. just not as comfortably. These are a size 30w with 32w tags. I suggest you order a size up, I wish I had. Customer service response is wrong.

I don't have an iPhone, but mu LG K10 is 5-7/8 in. tall and fits in all packets with room to spare. I tried using the cell phone pocket in front, and while the phone does fit, when seated it wants to ride out and is not very comfortable. I carry my phone in the left hand side pocket with no issues. I feel confident your iPhone will ride there just fine.

I believe that it would fit. I have a Kyocera DuraForce pro and at 6 inches, it fits easily. I have to carry two phones for work so I have an iPhone 6s also. They both will easily fit in the cell pocket together with at least another inch to half inch to spare from the top of the pocket. A friendly reminder though, take them out when you get into a vehicle. The seatbelt makes it nearly impossible to do so once you are strapped in.

They would hold up for a while. It really depends on how hard the rain is. They are Teflon coated so the water rolls off of them for the most part. They eventually will start to soak through though.

    3 Answers
These pants are awesome, but already run a tad snug. If you normally wear a 44, I'd stick with it. I wear a 35 technically (34 too snug/36 a bit loose) but the size 36 in these pants fits. I haven't noticed if they shrink at all. Dry them on a medium setting to be on the safe side.

I've worn these pants for about 2.5 years on my current pair and they have not shrank from washing. I went with the 38x30 because i'm low speed high drag and needed the extra room for IWB. They do have an elastic waist band so they should fit your standard 42 and stretch a little if needed. If they are roomy at 44 you should be safe at 42 with the stretch.

I can't exactly speak to how they would fit on someone who is 5'2" but I am 5'8" with somewhat short legs. It depends on your waist-hip ratio. If you're shaped like an oil drum (which I am), they'll fit you well. If you have more than a 5-6" difference between your waist and hip measurement, you'll probably want to order 1 pair and see if it works for you. Many women on our SAR team just order these, but a few have had to go to the women's cut. It also makes a difference if this is for dress or field uses. Price doesn't seem to make a difference in how your pants will handle a rough field day, so consider whether you care how they look when you're crawling through blackberries or along rip-rap!

    1 Answers
It sits right at the waist and not below. The only problem is that the sizing is more like a jean cut because while the waist is expandable, there is not much room in the crotch part that is bulges out. I have a Tru-Spec Tactical Pants with the same size, 40 x 30 and they felt more comfortable. But the only problem with the Tru-Spec is that their OD color is not as deep dark as the LA Police Gear.

I was able to pull a couple from the ware house to try. The fit is very similar. Both were about the same length and had about the same amount of room at the waist and through the legs I was able to do a full range of motion squat in both. The only significant difference was that the 5.11 pair was a little roomier in the hip area but that may be that I’m pushing the limit of that size of pant.

You can actually order a size to have them hemmed. The fit of tactical pants are going to be somewhat baggy, they are tactical with many pockets and designed to be that way for extreme movement. It sounds like you are looking more of a slim fit, you may look at the casual pants.

I think these pants are comfortable and appear to be durable. I like the pocket arrangement and accessibility. Have yet to test them at the range but I'm sure they will perform well.

What are return policies? I have read that these run a bit small after washing. Want to but 6 pair, but also want to make sure they fit properly. Thanks Paul

As long as the item is unwashed and unworn you may return it by filling out a return label and shipping it back to us. Unfortunately we are unable to cover the cost of shipping the item back to us. Once we receive the item we would process a refund to the original form of payment which you may use towards a different size or a different item. Here is a link to our returns page where you will find the return label and more details of our policy

how would i size the pants for women? or do you have a same similar pant for women in brown?
    1 Answers
A simple method to convert men's pants sizes to women's sizes involves subtracting 21 inches from the men's pants waist measurement. This means a size 34-inch men's pants equals a women's size 13

How is the length on these pants? I've had bad experiences getting pants as a gift or ordering offline and the legs being too long or too baggy. In jeans I normally wear 32x32. I'm 5'11"

These are considered true to size. Customers order their normal jean size.

These are to a point. We do not suggest wearing them during a rain storm as they are not water proof. Water does bead off them when something is spilled on them

Are you able to put in a belly band in the tactical pants?

We have not heard of anyone doing it. This could be a possibility tho since they already have an elastic waistband

If you're referring to the holster band, size up one to accommodate. That's assuming you know your waist, and it's true to form. Many of us (guilty) chose our "vanity" as in "I was" size.

These pants run small. They arrived the correct size (in my case 38, and were maybe a little big) but after a couple washes they have shrunk to about 36.

Mine showed up as a small patch. LAPG was getting a lot of complaints about the embroidered logo from people who are going to wear the pants with their uniform. The patch is easily removed with a seam ripper. Love the change, om my non uniform pairs, I keep it to show the brand. On the pairs I use for work I get to keep the Sarge off my back. Win win.

These pant legs are baggy. Just like a BDU pants.

Neither. These pants are perfectly in the middle. They are not slim like skinny jeans nor are they big and baggy like parachute pants haha. They fit absolutely perfect. One of my favorite pants to wear. They fit slim enough to look professional with boots and a tucked in polo and big enough to have free range of motion if worn everyday casual with sneakers. I can't speak highly enough of these. Definitely worth buying. I promise you after you wear them you will buy more!
