LA Police Gear Rescue EDC Folding Knife

MSRP: $19.99

LA Police Gear is already known for breaking into segments with exciting, useful products that not only look good and function highly, but save you a lot of money too. Now we're breaking into the knives segment with an entire line. You are sure to find the right knife for you in our line of 6 brand new knives. All of our knives are made with tough 8Cr14MoV steel, which is a tough yet durable steel type that can be easily sharpened to an excellent edge. The best part is that you can get a high quality knife at very reasonable prices because we cut out the middle man and pass the savings on to you.

The LA Police Gear Rescue EDC Folding Knife is ideal for pocket carry and would be a valuable tool in case of emergency. The removable pocket clip is positioned at the very edge of the knife for a low profile look when clipped in your pocket. This knife strikes the perfect balance of being light enough for pocket carry, but with enough weight to make it sturdy and reliable.

The Rescue EDC Folding Knife has a liner lock mechanism, and features an assisted opening tanto or drop point blade, which can be opened ambidextrously with the thumb opening or with the finger tab. The tanto blade is available in a Gun Metal finish and is available in either a plain or partially serrated edge. The drop point version is available in a Satin or Black finish with the option of a Black or Tan handle. The rear of this knife features a built in seatbelt cutter and a glass breaker.

Once again I am impressed with LA Police Gear. I gave these knives as presents, they were well received. The knife is robustly constructed with a formable blade that came reasonable sharp and maintains it edge.

    Pretty decent
I bought 12 of these for my patrol squad. A good police knife with assisted opening, glass breaker and seat belt cutter. Only negative was that some were not very sharp, other than that, well liked.
ProsAssisted opening, appear to be good quality.
    ConsInconsistent sharpness.

    Can't beat the deal
An absolutely a great knife for the price. Only negative is that I would have preferred it be lighter in weight for an EDC. That being said is not overly heavy at all. Just heavier than the spyderco I'm used to.

    Needs better packaging
I bought 5 of these knifes as gifts for my coworkers for Christmas. When they arrived all but one of the boxes was torn open from the window punch. A little bit embarrassing giving a gift that has the packaging torn open already. The knife itself wasn't too bad, similar to other knifes I have in the same price point. Has a good sharp blade as one of my coworkers already cut himself. And everyone loves the assisted opening. Overall a good knife for the price.
ProsSharp blade Springy assisted opening Not bad for the price
ConsNeeds better packaging but nothing that effects the knife

    Bargain EDC
Great price for a quality knife. All four knives worked as advertised and were perfect for their intended purposes. I won't worry about stashing them away and not using them daily, but still having them when I need one.
    ProsPrice, usable edge, quality

    Great knife, crappy clip
I bought a few of these knives last year when they were on sale. As an EMT/firefighter I wanted a decent knife that would cut well, but didn't cost a lot. This way, if I lost it at a scene, it wouldn't be a big loss. The blade is sharp and stays sharp. I keep it clipped to my front pants pocket and use it a lot. The blade opens easily and locks securely into place. The only negative is that the clip sticks out too far and bends easily. Out of the 4 I started out with I only have one left that the clip didn't catch on something and bend. The price is great so I'll pick up a couple more.
ProsBlade stays sharp and cuts well Lock blade works well Knife opens easily
ConsClip sticks out too far and bends easily

    Excellent Value Priced Backup/Survival Knife
It is not often that you come across a bargain that actually turns out to be a bargain in the long run. This knife has a number of very well thought out features that are not only utilitarian but features that very well could be needed in an emergency or survival situation. Outstanding knife for the money.
ProsGood quality knife made with materials that you normally see in upper middle end knives.

    Solid knife
I've been carrying this knife daily clipped to my pocket for a year and it's held up great. Its a tool I use frequently while working construction and while camping and fishing. Its a solid knife with good spring action. It seems a little large for a pocket knife but its thin enough that it isn't cumbersome.

Can the clip be put on the opposite end of the knife. You have to flip the knife over when you take it out of your pocket to open it. The way it is set up now. Maybe Iam just use to the smooth transition of a spyderco knife

Is the glass breaker Carbide tipped?
    3 Answers
Frankly, I don't know if it's Carbide tipped (or what exactly does it mean), but tip formed out of the shaped end of the frame. Hope attached image helps..

No carbide tip, but the steel is high quality and the heft is sufficient to make it a good glass breaker. Used a non-carbide tipped center punch for years (training and real time). This knife should hold up even better than the punch. JL

To my knowledge and upon inspection, there is no carbide tip on the glass breaker. The knife isn't the greatest -- I own two SOGs, 3 CRKTs, 2 Spydercos, and a Kershaw, and I think this knife is toward the bottom of that list in quality... HOWEVER, i own 3 LAPG knives in different blade designs and almost exclusively carry them. The price I paid for the three of these knives is less than any one individual other knife that I own... For the price of these, I really can't suggest a better option to be honest. I own both versions of the LAPG knives, and the assisted opening is crisp and reliable. The deep carry pocket clip is also a welcome feature. But anyway, to answer the question, no, there is no carbide tip on the glass breaker end of this pocket knife. Hope this helped :)

Can the pocket clip be set up for tip-up carry?

Unfortunately, I do not believe that will work. The two screws that are holding the clip down are set wider apart than the ones near the belt cutter of the knife.

I just got mine in, and no, you can't switch the clip- it would block the seat-belt cutter.
