LA Police Gear Rescue EDC Folding Knife

MSRP: $19.99

LA Police Gear is already known for breaking into segments with exciting, useful products that not only look good and function highly, but save you a lot of money too. Now we're breaking into the knives segment with an entire line. You are sure to find the right knife for you in our line of 6 brand new knives. All of our knives are made with tough 8Cr14MoV steel, which is a tough yet durable steel type that can be easily sharpened to an excellent edge. The best part is that you can get a high quality knife at very reasonable prices because we cut out the middle man and pass the savings on to you.

The LA Police Gear Rescue EDC Folding Knife is ideal for pocket carry and would be a valuable tool in case of emergency. The removable pocket clip is positioned at the very edge of the knife for a low profile look when clipped in your pocket. This knife strikes the perfect balance of being light enough for pocket carry, but with enough weight to make it sturdy and reliable.

The Rescue EDC Folding Knife has a liner lock mechanism, and features an assisted opening tanto or drop point blade, which can be opened ambidextrously with the thumb opening or with the finger tab. The tanto blade is available in a Gun Metal finish and is available in either a plain or partially serrated edge. The drop point version is available in a Satin or Black finish with the option of a Black or Tan handle. The rear of this knife features a built in seatbelt cutter and a glass breaker.

    Great knife, crappy clip
I bought a few of these knives last year when they were on sale. As an EMT/firefighter I wanted a decent knife that would cut well, but didn't cost a lot. This way, if I lost it at a scene, it wouldn't be a big loss. The blade is sharp and stays sharp. I keep it clipped to my front pants pocket and use it a lot. The blade opens easily and locks securely into place. The only negative is that the clip sticks out too far and bends easily. Out of the 4 I started out with I only have one left that the clip didn't catch on something and bend. The price is great so I'll pick up a couple more.
ProsBlade stays sharp and cuts well Lock blade works well Knife opens easily
ConsClip sticks out too far and bends easily

    Excellent Value Priced Backup/Survival Knife
It is not often that you come across a bargain that actually turns out to be a bargain in the long run. This knife has a number of very well thought out features that are not only utilitarian but features that very well could be needed in an emergency or survival situation. Outstanding knife for the money.
ProsGood quality knife made with materials that you normally see in upper middle end knives.

    Solid knife
I've been carrying this knife daily clipped to my pocket for a year and it's held up great. Its a tool I use frequently while working construction and while camping and fishing. Its a solid knife with good spring action. It seems a little large for a pocket knife but its thin enough that it isn't cumbersome.

    Great Folding Knife
Ok, so you see a knife for $20 or less. It can't be that nice from past experience of buying a cheap knife, but I loaned my knife (this is my car carry knife. It sits in the door of my car in case of any type of emergency or if I left the house without my regular carry knife) to a buddy, which I never got back, so I needed an inexpensive replacement. This might be an inexpensive knife, but it Definitely doesn't fall in the category of a "cheap knife." It's surprisingly well made, good spring action, fairly smooth, sharp, and looks the part. Only downside I see is that it's made in China, other than that, this is a Great buy! You will be happy! I even considered using it as my personal carry, and giving my $200+ Spyderco a break, but I chose to still carry my Spyderco. That being said, it's that good...
ProsHas all the necessary tools for a car carry knife, surprisingly high quality, sharp, looks great!
ConsMade in China =( nothing really wrong with Chinese products in general, but I choose to spend my money on products made in the US or Europe.

    Great knife for the money
I bought this knife for a relative who is currently serving as a state police officer. My review is based on my initial impressions of the knife and NOT on long term experience. As a result, I can't comment on edge holding or durability over the long haul. Also keep in mind this is a $15 knife so any listed cons are more nits than anything else. Taking everything into consideration, I would definitely recommend to a friend looking for a solid value packed knife.
Pros1. The knife arrived sharp. However a few swipes on a strop, and it was splitting atoms. 2. The blade is centered and locks up tight. 3. All the screws were securely fastened. 4. The assisted opening works great. No binding was detected. 5. Everything considered, very impressive build quality.
Cons1. There is a brass washer on one side of the blade and a nylon washer on the other. This is not necessarily a bad thing since some high-end folders also use nylon washers, but my preference is all brass. I think LAPG should specify all brass washers and raise the cost of the knife by 2 cents. 2. The blade is a little thin relative to the thickness of the handle. That said it's more than sturdy enough for EDC. 3. The knife has a fair amount of heft to it. If you are looking for something that is feathery, this is not your blade. 4. The two screws that secure the pocket clip to the handle do not seem to go all the way through to the steel liners underneath. If that is the case you have to be careful when tightening the screws as they are biting into G10 and not metal. I could see them stripping the G10 if too much force is applied. 5. Made in China. May be an issue for some folks.

    Great knife
This knife is exactly as described, and I love it; in fact, I am currently carrying it when out on the road. I like to be prepared should someone end up trapped in a vehicle and needs to be extricated.

This knife is great quality for the price point. Very smooth assist action. Seems to hold an edge pretty well so far. Rugged construction and a stout low ride pocket clip as well. Quality at gas station knife prices!

Can the clip be put on the opposite end of the knife. You have to flip the knife over when you take it out of your pocket to open it. The way it is set up now. Maybe Iam just use to the smooth transition of a spyderco knife

Is the glass breaker Carbide tipped?
    3 Answers
Frankly, I don't know if it's Carbide tipped (or what exactly does it mean), but tip formed out of the shaped end of the frame. Hope attached image helps..

No carbide tip, but the steel is high quality and the heft is sufficient to make it a good glass breaker. Used a non-carbide tipped center punch for years (training and real time). This knife should hold up even better than the punch. JL

To my knowledge and upon inspection, there is no carbide tip on the glass breaker. The knife isn't the greatest -- I own two SOGs, 3 CRKTs, 2 Spydercos, and a Kershaw, and I think this knife is toward the bottom of that list in quality... HOWEVER, i own 3 LAPG knives in different blade designs and almost exclusively carry them. The price I paid for the three of these knives is less than any one individual other knife that I own... For the price of these, I really can't suggest a better option to be honest. I own both versions of the LAPG knives, and the assisted opening is crisp and reliable. The deep carry pocket clip is also a welcome feature. But anyway, to answer the question, no, there is no carbide tip on the glass breaker end of this pocket knife. Hope this helped :)

Can the pocket clip be set up for tip-up carry?

Unfortunately, I do not believe that will work. The two screws that are holding the clip down are set wider apart than the ones near the belt cutter of the knife.
