    Great Family Emergency Bag
Kids stocked with emergency supplies for storms. Used bags for air travel and were spacious enough for 3 day trip. Two months of kids' use and they have held up exceptionally well.
    ProsCost. Durability. Packing volume.
ConsWould not use for extended field use (great day hiker though).

this is my 3rd such pack of this description in 9 years. 1st green, 2nd black, 3rd tan. specs vary among each. the order of purchase is also the order of quality. i know LAPG sources lowest bidders to keep prices low, but in the case of this pack and certain tactical trousers while prices have remained stable, quality and consistency have fluctuated. for instance the tan pack is longer than the green and black. it is also much stiffer, as if it needs to be broken-in. as an aside, trouser-wise, zippers are a HUGE problem. i rate the tan pack at 3. my overall rating of 4 is the average of all 3, including 5 for the green and 4 for the black. my non-recommendation is based on the tan pack. i would also like to attach a comparative photo of all 3 but unfortunately they are not co-located. if LAPG would replicate my green pack i'd buy several more and recommend it. who knows, maybe i'll buy another one down the road but for now i have to figure out how to make this tan thing work for me.

Is the 3 day backpack suitable for carryon for air travel?
    7 Answers
Carry-ons are limited to 9 x 14 x 22 inches, this is just larger at 12 x 13 x 19 inches so you wouldn’t be able to fill it up all the way but since it’s not a hard case then it could work.

Yes. This would be very good for air travel. I use a similar sized back pack and travel nearly every week.

I don't see why it wouldn't be suitable for air travel. Have three of these that I bought previously and they are a great general purpose bag for just about any back pack use. Purchased two more on special. One for use as my instructer carry bag and another for who knows. Heavy duty, rugged and reliable. Don't know about specific dimensions for flight requirements., not the three day seems to be about the size I have seen others board with. I always underpack mine so it can be stuffed in anywhere. Travel light and fast they say....

The bag has lots of room to pack clothes for short trips 1 to 2 days should be no problem. It will fit in the overhead compartments no problem. I bought 2.

Well you would have to check the measurements of the backpack against the airline specific carry-on policy, I do believe while it's at the big end it would be suitable for a carry-on… And if you're like me you would rather carry-on then check any day. This particular backpack offers a large capacity while still having enough compartments to provide good organization so that you know tactically where all of your essentials are. It is good for light field application or for use as an every day carryGreat gear especially for the moderate price

What is the largest water bladder that this bag can hold ?? Thank you.

It could easily fit 3 of the standard 2.5 L camelback bladders side by side in the main compartment and still have some room.

I'm sure it could hold an elephant's bladder. If you meant bottle, it is a good sized backpack and would be great for a bug out bag or day pack.

I was wondering, are they machine washable? How best to clean it?
    2 Answers
There is nothing on the tags stating washing requirements. It is nylon. I took the pad from the back pocket out and washed in cold water and air dried. Good as new. That's my two cents.

You can also hang it upside down, hose it off and use a soft bristle brush to clean off any loose dirt. Air dry and you're good to go

Why are all the 1300 reviews on the 2.0 and not here for this glorious LAPG pack?
    1 Answers
At first I wondered about this too. Was the 2.0 version an identity thief and stole them? Was the 2.0 insecure, knowing that it could have what some were calling the "tactical bra" attached to it, and longed for the braless days of its predecessor? I decided neither was the case. The wise ones at LAPG knew the hours its loyal customers had spent writing those 1200+ masterpieces of composition and, let's face it, some day these will be sold out and their work would be lost to the ages. By moving them to the 2.0, in years to come, the authors of those evaluations will be able to call their grandchildren to theirs sides and show them the examples of their writing mastery from days gone by.
