    Good gear to have
Not always working in a full kit, but always putting my knees on the ground. Just enough padding to protect my old knees.
ProsLight, always there to protect you knees
ConsHave to pull down your pants to place in pockets if you didn't put them in before dressing

    Great pads
We bought these for shooting 3-gun matches. Not as cumbersome as the slip on type, and with out the constant compression. Slip them into the inner knee pockets and leave them there all day.

Great with the Stryke Women's Pants
These are easy on the knees when it comes to getting dirty. Everyone knows when you're setting up targets or dropping to one knee, these come in real handy. Love 'em!!! Joni

Perfect and Simple for the price
These are great for LEO Uniform Patrol use. They perform well during car searches, people searches, building searches (when you have to take a knee to look under beds, crawl spaces, and other crouched areas. However, not great for heavy SRT/SWAT use. For that, I recommend Arcteryx Knee Caps. Very light weight and durable. Anyway, you cant really tell i have the knee pads inserted in the dark navy stryke pants we use for duty uniform.
ProsSimple, inexpensive, stays in placeduring use, Great for Uniform Patrol use, great for searches, do not print (does not look like youre wearing knee pads) in dark uniform.
ConsSlight knee sweat when knees are bent for long periods (exampl: seated in patrol car). Not easily washable.

Great Design But Poor Quality Material
I've tried numerous knee pads and this is by far the best, low profile designed knee pad. Fits in a variety brands with knee pad pockets and they work very well, even when keeling on rocky terrain. However, this is my second set and each has began to fray along the edges after only a few weeks of use. I've always remove the pads from the pants prior to washing, so that is not the issue.
    ProsDesign, thin, good protection
Consquality of material is poor and easily frays along the edges.

Very useful and well designed knee pad
These slip-in knee pads are very useful and well designed. They're light weight, not to thick, and they save your knees from lots of scrapes and bruises without the discomfort that comes from the type of pads that are strapped on to your knees.

    Excellent Product
I use this item daily at work. On my knees constantly.
ProsJust the right padding and size for minimal time on my knees stocking shelves.
ConsA little thin for an hour or more on my knees stocking shelves. Would be nice if a thicker pad was made for extensive time on knees, but not bulky.

    Great in Cold Weather
I bought these for additional comfort when kneeling. It hurts to kneel on a small pebble or rock in the street or in your tent while camping. These mitigate the pain but depending how hard you kneel. They may be hot in the summer. These are not hard shell knee pads they are light weight and fit great in Stryke pants and taclight pro pants men and women's. They do not chafe your knees while hiking and don't impede movement. See Photosz on YouTube for full review
ProsLight Fit Don't impede movement Comfortable to kneel Great thickness
ConsDon't breathe Minimal protection Typical neoprene and rubber smell

    Great Pads, Poor Integration
When I bought the multicam TDU pants for airsoft, I was excited to see how 5.11 made the system. After installing the pads, I put the pants on. Whilst I ordered the correct inseam length, the top of the pads only touched the very bottom of my knee. Maybe 1mm of coverage. Obviously, this issue could be solved by pulling the knees up, but that leaves tons of slack on the thighs. Maybe, someone who orders undersized inseams might have better success with the pads, but then the pants will too short. The idea is nice, but a one size fits all concept does work in this case unless 5.11 would integrate an adjustment system a la Crye.
    ProsGreat idea
    ConsPoor design

The description states the neoprene pad is 3/8" thick. Though a reviewer comments the pad is 3/16". So the question is, what's the correct thickness of a single knee pad?
    6 Answers
I haven't measured, but having used them, 3/16" seems correct. 3/8" would be pretty bulky and harder to get in the pocket.

My knee pads are closer to 1/4", not 3/8th. I really like them.

It is 3/16". Adequate for kneeling but might' be a bit thin for a knee drop on hard surface.

Looking for the major dimensions of this item...i.e. What is the maximum height from top to bottom and what is the maximum width at widest point from left to right? Another way to ask is what is the smallest knee pocket size these pads will fit into?
    5 Answers
These pads measure approx 8.5" (tall) by 6" (wide). I use em in my Propper and Tru-Spec BDUs. I actually have to roll the width narrower for my Tru-Specs. These can be sized (cut) to fit smaller or other knee pad pockets as well if desired. Great pads!

Hi. I just measured mine. The maximum height is 9 inches, the center width is 7 and on quarter inches, and the bottom width is 6 and three quarter inches. If the dimensions of the pad are to big for a pocket you have it would be easy to cut the pad to fit in the same way you can cut a Dr. Scholls shoe pad insert, if you have ever done that.

The dimensions of the 5.11 Tactical Knee Pads are: 9 inches Long (top to bottom) 7 1/4 inches wide (in the middle, at widest point) 3/16 of an inch thick The pads fit easily into the 5.11 TacLite Pro Pants (item 74273) which I also recommend. The pads cushion a temporary knee bend to the ground while not being too thick to encumber your mobility. Hope this helps.

The knee pads are 9" x 7.25". So you would probably need a pocket that is 10" x 8" so you can fit it in without trouble.
