If you are looking for a load-bearing vest designed for special operations and tactical situations, look no farther. In partnership with Kyle Lamb, 5.11 Tactical Series has produced the ultimate load-bearing platform. The LBE Vest is made from a stiffened mesh that provides the necessary structure for all your gear, yet allows air in for ventilation and breathability. The LBE Vest has our hidden document pockets and is fully compatible with our VTAC Slickstick™ pouches or standard molle gear. A grab handle is located on the interior of the vest, not visible to an outsider, but there if you need it. A hydration pocket is also located on the interior of the back of the vest. The LBE Vest is adjustable in girth and length and is available in Regular and 2XL+ sizes. We use only quality YKK® zippers and high quality high impact plastic clips.
You can use any number of our Slickstick™ accessories to customize your LBE Vest for any situation. The 5.11 Slickstick™ accessories are compatible with standard molle attachment systems, yet functions like none other. The Slickstick™ slides through a UV-resistant ring making it easier to arrange and attach your pouches and other gear. Slickstick attaches like a normal molle attachment, but it slides to make it easier. To remove an item, just pop the snap and pull the stick out. The design combination of our LBE and our Slickstick™ accessories give you an unlimited variety of configurations.
As always, 5.11 Tactical Series continues to provide innovative products at exceptional prices to give operators the tools they need for their difficult duties.

Regular Size: Good for Small/Medium Builds
I am 5' 8" / ~170 lbs / 42 chest. The Regular size fits well, but requires adjustment both in the waist straps and the shoulder straps. The molle webbing functions properly. Webbing near the shoulders could be trouble in certain situations - there is velcro on one shoulder and leather-like reinforcement on the other. Internal bladder pouch is very spacious. I run a 3L Camelbak Mil Spec Antidote bladder (short version) and it fits very easily, but certainly moves around a bit. This has never become a burden or an inconvenience, but it's possible other bladder shapes could move more.
ProsRegular fits small/medium builds well with adjustment. 10-point adjustment (6 on waist, 4 on shoulders). Durable functioning molle webbing. Large bladder pocket on inside back of vest.
ConsBuckles on waist adjustment straps interfere with one column of molle on each side.

I am a frequent buyer of your products, and generally speaking, they have all served me very well over the years. That being said, this item (VTAC LBE Vest) is not true to size. It is not even near true to size, this actually runs about 2 sizes smaller. I ordered a 3X, and even had a friend who is wears an XL, and could not even get it fastened without loosening the straps. I think if there is that much of a size variable, there should be an actual size chart linked to each and every item, since different manufacturers have different size guidelines, but a size 12 shoe, is a size 12 shoe, right?
ProsAppears to be well made, but the sizing is "WAY" off.

I am 5'8", 170 lbs and the vest is well built and comfortable. Vest is snug enough with a base layer on to keep silence during movement. No matter if it is adjusted all the way in or out, there is always molle covering the waist.
Pros-Plenty of real-estate for all your molle pouches -Breathable
Cons-The bladder pouch in the back seems worthless -Would rather have zippers instead of velcro for the hidden pouches

Well built, great fit
This is my second one. I first got a black one and with the 6x6 padded pouches use it as a photo shoot vest, my second one in sandstone is perfect for tactical use
ProsGreat value, sturdy construction, many options

as all 5.11 products, it is very well made and hard to beat. the reason it is 3 stars is because it is very hard to adjust when needing to increase or decrease layers. the other issue that i found was that the buckles on the front get covered when putting any molle pouch on, making it again had to tighten everything down. the greatest thing about this is the fact that it is fast to put on. this is great for any situation where you need to grab your gear and go. I would also consider a plate carrie if spending this much money again.
Prosalot of space for pouches comfortable breathable to avoid sweat great molle spec
Conshard to adjust needs to be broken in

Is there a "Police" identification patch for the back of this anywhere? Also, can you attach a badge to the front?
There is not a police patch on the back of this item however you can put one on there as there is hook and look on the back. Just search Tact-idbadges for that item. Also there is no specific place to add a bade to this vest.

Can I mount the Camelbak Mil Spec Antidote internally into this vest? If so which one...the long or short.
The rear internal pocket covers the entire back pannel and there are really no good points to attatch the bladder internally without modifications. Only one point at the top and it would probably move around. I purchased the Armorback unit which uses the short 100oz. , (3 L) bladder and it attches nicely externaly on the back. It can be quickly removed if needed with the included hardware. Its a very nice set up with this vest.

Are there any conectors to attach the vest to a duty belt..or do you use some velcro through the little loops they have comming off the vest...???
we do not show any connectors available through 5.11. we would say using the Velcro through the loop attachment points would be the best option.

Does the 2XL version have more mollle on it than the regular?
I happened to order a 5.11 VTAC LBE Vest size large a while back. Unfortunately, it didn't fit over my body armour/plate carrier. I returned the item and ordered a 2XL, which fitted me like a glove!!! In the end, YES, it did have more molle than the large.

Does this vest hold ballistic Kevlar panels in it or is this intended to go over a under-carrier?
this vest will not hold ballistic plates in the front but does have a pouch in the back that can hold them if needed. this is more intended though for over the carrier.

How does the FDE color compare to the Coyote color of say the Condor line?
The FDE color is more of a brown/khaki compared to the condor coyote color. The condor coyote is in the middle of a 5.11 FDE and sandstone color. The 5.11 FDE and sandstone both go well with the condor coyote, but are not an exact match. - In the image, the plate carrier is condor coyote, the 3 same colors are FDE and the 1 different is sandstone.
on November 7, 2013
The Flat Dark Earth for this product (and most 5.11 products) is a bit darker than the Coyote of other manufacturers, including Condor. It is close enough for the products to match, but there is a noticeable difference.
on November 7, 2013
FDE is darker. 5.11 Tactical's Sandstone is closer to Condor's Coyote or Maxpedition's Khaki

What's the size difference between the regular size vest and the 2XL? Shirt wise, I normally wear XL. Thanks.
Both vests are adjustable in girth and length. A regular is expandable from 40" to 50" and a 2XL is expandable from 46" to 57" in girth.
