Great buts whats with the color?
I want to give these pants a 4 or 5 Star Rating however I cant. The pants overall for design and fitting its great however I ordered OD Green and also a Vertx Shirt in OD Green however the pants color is way off from a dark OD Green like the image shows... which ruins my plans to use it paired with the shirt for work. Maybe I was sent the wrong color or maybe due to materials of the pant being mostly cotton vs the shirt being polyester that is why the colors are off?
    ProsOverall great pant
ConsColor is completely off for the OD Green compared to the other products from Vertx.

ooops they screwed up a great pant
Three years ago I purchased several pair of these pants, I love them. Comfortable, Fit, Pockets in the right places ( especially the hidden side zip security pocket on the right leg). Wow 3 years later their completely worn out and need to be replaced (wow is me) VERTEX has changed their pattern and now produce potato sacks that they refer to as a low pro tac pants. long story short they no longer fit my needs as a low pro contractor/consultant utility pant. Tooooo baggy for everyday wear.
Prosbest pocket arrangement ever with one exception could use a mag/cell phone pocket in left side slash pocket.
Conspoor fit, and appearance is baggy, sloppy....

    Great fabric. Lots of room.
    ProsNot too obvious

They fit but aren't as comfortable as 100% cotton
These fit but aren't as comfortable as 100% cotton. They don't breathe as well and the Lycra makes the fabric to "slippery" to rest on. I'm glad I bought this on sale as I'd really not be pleased had I paid full price.
    ProsThey fit as advertised.
ConsThe Lycra blend makes them breathe poorly. It also makes them itchy. And it renders the fabric too "slippery" while wearing. Not a very comfortable combination for regular wear.

I ordered a 32 waist for my husband. I even had him try on his dress pants and jeans to make sure he still wears a 32 waist. (He was not a happy, but did it.) Then the first pair came and they were just barely a 32 waist fully stretched out. Then I returned the first pair and tried a second pair. Still same problem! If you expect to carry a gun inside the waist band, for sure you have to order up a size. I hope the 34 will be loose enough. Who makes a waistband the measurement fully stretched out? The sides are suppose to allow for more room. My husband LOVED the material, workmanship, and pockets- so off to the post office I go to do yet another exchange. Trust me order up a size save yourself a headache!
ProsWorkmanship of stitching, sturdy fabric, enough room in crotch, lots of pocket that are not as noticeable as traditional cargo, great color choices
ConsSize of waistband runs to a fully stretched out waistband not a relaxed waistband. ( 1 inch shorter when relaxed- Yes, I measured it several times) Order a size larger.

Best covert tactical pants on the market
I work as a Special Agent, many times covertly like many others in our field. These pants have the business causal appearance but handles just like any other cargo pocket tactical pant. It fits great and I have full movement. I love the covert pocket, comes in handy when your in places like Mexico or Detroit!

    Vertx pants
I like the vertx pants. I have a couple pairs in highlander camo but wanted a pair for work,so I ordered a pair in kaki the only thing I found is they run small. Order the next size larger and you should be good to go. These are good pants. They have nice size pockets but don't look too tactical. Most of all they are comfortable.
    ProsComfortable, nice size pockets,

VertX Pants very good for daily wear
I have been wearing the VertX mostly cotton pants for about 1.5 years now. I will say that they are rugged! More so than 5.11's IMHO and they seem to resist staining a tiny bit which helps. I like the low-vis cargo pockets, and the cut/fit. The front main pockets will dump your change so be careful. I like that they are made for a wide belt, and they have consistent fit. When you buy a size you get that same fit. They may run a little tight so like a 38 waist is actually a 37. I don't like the front pockets...but....they have a sort of hidden zipper pocket included in one of the pockets so if you can put your money there it will stay there. I use that pocket for my smart phone. I really like the magazine elastic interior pockets inside the cargo pockets. So cool! I use them for small stuff like lip balm, ear plugs etc. Most likely I will continue buying them since i like them so much but thats my luck.... when I like something they go and change it so please don't change these pants unless you add a second zipper pocket.
ProsMostly cotton Consistent size fit Awesome cargo pockets Rugged, seem to resist most stains pretty good Low wear even with daily abuse Look nice and professional Gusseted crotch stitching is excellent, and pattern is too no velcro anywhere
ConsFront pockets sort of lose stuff unless you use the special zipper pocket Price (even on sale they are pricey, but you get what you pay for) Arrangement of belt loops - not so condusive to CCW IWB but satisfactory with some experimentation Elastic and spandex - if you are sensitive could cause a reaction BUT I have mild allergy with no problems at all Need more colors

    comfortable pants
comfortable, do not sit too high as many other duty pants do, good design of cargo pockets and a little pocket within, extra pocket with a zipper, material fades after a few washes and the edge on the bottom of the legs tears too soon from rubbing on the boots. There should be a tape on the inside of the leg edge like they used to put in the old days, it would extend the life of the pants as torn up edges do not look too professional.
Proscomfy, nice cut, not too high, some elastic in the waste allows +- an inch for winter/summer clothing
Conslegs edges do not last as they rub on the boots, material fades fairly fast

Best pair of pants I ever owned in my 28 years of law enforcement. I now have 10 pairs! My two original pairs from five years ago are worn and torn but I'm still wearing them. Durable, flexible, wearable.

The black is definitely black. The 98% cotton pant fades around the edges and seams. The light weight pant hold its color. I wear with polished black work boots.

You would have to take it to a tailor in order to have that done. We do not have the facility to do that here. I'll check with other customers who have purchased this to see if they have any feedback for you when it comes to modifying the pants.

The way the pants are cut, it may look bunched up. The knees have extra material to allow for flex without the hem riding up. The pants don't have a flat front like a pair of slacks would. When pressed flat, you'll always have a small amount of material folded over.
    on January 30, 2016

I wouldn't recommend putting a stipe on the leg, mainly because of the cargo pockets do the way the knee is cut, it wouldn't look professional and would be difficult to have a seamstress apply the stipe.

Probably not. I mean I guess you technically could, but it would go straight through the cargo pocket, be more difficult to sew in that area, and would look odd whenever you had anything IN the cargo pocket. Something else. My only experience with pants that had a stripe was in the Marine Corps, but those had the stripe in line with the upper pocket opening, which was perfectly straight and vertical. On the Vertx pants, that pocket opening is angled such that the stripe would have to "bend" to go around the opening. Hope this helps.

What is the "weight" of the pant material. The weight tells a lot as to how they hold up in the brush, how long they will last and about how much they will protect your legs.
    6 Answers
Its a very durable heavyweight material. I had four pair of these pants which I wore during a deployment to Africa, and continue to wear for range days and defensive tactics training with my department. The stitching holds up great and the gusseted crotch makes the pants real comfortable and mobile. The only drawback is that because the material is so heavy (similar to Carharts) they get real heavy when they're wet, and don't dry out super fast. Great pants though, very well made.

While I don't have a material weight they feel like standard carhart carpenter pants and wear exceptionally well. Mine have very little fading after a year of use. Highly recommend the pants.

Vertx website describes them "Constructed of 9-oz. 98% Cotton/2% Lycra Advantage Stretch fabric." I think the weight is pretty good, walked through a thicket of wild thorns on a crime scene the other day and they protected me pretty well.

To be honest I have not yet received my pair of these pants yet. I only have a few pairs of the inteli-dry fabric. The ID fabric is very durable and is quite lightweight. I did manage to poke a hole in the inner leg hopping a barbed wire fence at work and after many washes and continued wear, the pants have not torn or ripped anymore; though there is a small amount of fraying now after a year. (hence why I am now ordering a new pair) These pants have the rip-stop sewing style much like military BDU's. They dry quick and don't chafe. My only suggestion is unless you have a beanpole waist line is to order a size up. VertX reviews seem to have that trait in common on any site. They do not fit true to size in the waist. I wear my pants at least three times a week hiking through brush and climbing rock structures on a resource protection site. Again I only have the inteli-dry pants but those are rugged and durable so I imagine the normal material would be equally rugged. I'll know for sure on saturday when I receive my VertX Tac pants. I hope this helps.

Not sure this will make sense but compared to standard issue bdus the bertx material is softer BUT much more durable because it is significantly more "dense". The weave (includes a stretch material in around 3% I believe) makes it a. Fit better. B. Come out lighter and c. Feel much much lighter. Seriously. They move with you and lay on you - meaning you don't actually notice them ( like you would a pair of stiff bdus). I've had a pair in OD green for about three to four years and had to toss em only last year this is despite wearing them constantly (3 plus times a week) on either hikes, to work and, scrambling. The detergent and constant washing eventually wore down the fabric of the crotch area - no seam ripped or anything. Just washed and dried them on high heat over the last two years

Can someone comment on how these pants look from behind? Many tactical pants are very unflattering and cut so full in the seat that, when standing, look like they are poorly concealing a full diaper.
    5 Answers
I do not notice them being baggy or droppy in the butt. I would suggest you order your normal size, not anything extra. They do not shrink, so don't count on that, they also on the long side, I have ordered 34 lengh, but 32 would have been better, still plenty long enough. They have been very good for the price.

For me these are awesome pants. I bought a pair of these for department to wear in the jail. They are professional looking and don't look like you're wearing a diaper. I have a pair of tru specs I got as a gift and those look like your concealing a full diaper. I am very happy with this brand. In my opinion they fit just as well as my 5.11 but a little more higher quality in the stitching.

These are full cut, but they fit well and are easy to move in for tactical situations. I have but looked in a mirror to see how they look, but I prefer them over 5.11 pants. those look like ladies Roper brand bluejeans, and they fade.
