Tactical Tailor Low Vis Large MBAV Plate Carrier

SKU #: TacT-MBAV-Carrier
MSRP: $143.25
The Tactical Tailor Low Vis Large MBAV Plate Carrier is designed to give the user a high level of protection while maintaining a lower tactical signature for low visibility or plain clothes operations. It is ideal in any situation, whether worn under a cover shirt, using our hook & loop ammo pouches, or conventionally with our Mini MAV or Rudder RAC.

The front of the vest features a Hypalon gear hanger which allows for mounting of several models of chest rigs directly to the vest which gives you the ability to quickly lighten your load by dropping your rig but maintaining your level of protection. The vest includes reversible side plate pockets that can be removed for lower signature operations.

The carrier is designed to be used with SOCOM issued Ceradyne plates or ESAPI plates with MBAV soft armor backers and sized according to your plates. The Low Vis MBAV Plate Carrier is constructed from 500 denier Cordura nylon with adjustable heavy duty elastic for adjustment.

Not quite what I was looking for
Excellent quality, every bit of this was solidly made at a fair price. I bought this for my AR550 plates along with TT low vis rifle and pistol pouches and I had two problems. The plates are 10.5" by 12" and they did not fit securely in the armor compartment. This vest is made for the much thicker plates with a bigger footprint and there was no way to secure the smaller plates so they just sank down to the bottom of the carrier leaving about 2 inches from the top of the carrier to the top of the plate. The sizing says it will fit "up to" x inches, don't be duped, the carrier is made to fit the biggest size plate listed for that size vest. The second problem came when I attached the pouches; there just isn't much real estate for them. The cummerbund attaches directly to the front of the vest as the picture shows and the rifle pouch is tall enough that I couldn't secure all the hook portion to the loop. Overall, it just looked sloppy. I liked the feel of the vest and it seemed to carry the weight well but the overall design leaves much to be desired.
ProsMade in USA Quality construction Fair Price
ConsNo way to secure plate inside the pocket so the plates slide around if they don't take up the whole pocket. Velcro is the only way to attach anything.

There are three sizes to choose from, how do I decide what I need? I looked at the manufacture website as well, no size chart.

I was able to talk to the manufacturer and they said that you need to measure based on the sixze of your plates and said each size will fit: Medium: 9.5” 12.5” Large: 10.12”x13.25” XLarge: 11”x14” I hope this helps!
