    Solid performer
I've been wearing this watch about 3 weeks. It is comfortable, easy to read, appears to be accurate on the altimeter and compass, though I haven't been at elevation yet to really evaluate it.
ProsEasy to read, light weight. Professional appearance
ConsSparse instructions included, I've yet to go online for further directions as noted in the manuel

    Suunto Reg. Black Core
All fuctions seem to be accurate. Nice looking casual watch that can go with a dressier look. I didn't get the blackout face. Mine is the white face with LCD digits. which is also a little challenging to read in lowlight enviro. Hard to read, in the dark, with watch light. This is a crazy price. I got mine through Wal-Mart for $182.99 with free shipping.
    ProsCool looking, large face, watch.
    ConsToo expensive through LAPG!

    Great all around watch
This watch is a great all around watch. It looks sharp and I love the blackout reverse-lighted display. The compass and altimeter are very accurate (for a watch) and it is very easy to set up. Another bonus feature of this watch is you can change the battery yourself. This is a great deal especially if it's on sale.
Pros-Looks sharp -Easy set up -You can replace the battery
    Cons-None

    Good watch and features
The operation and features of this watch are very good. Only think is I wish I would have gotten the white face one.
ProsFits comfortable and light in weight. Good operational features once calibrated
ConsI got black face and very hard to see sometimes. Backlight is not very bright and hard to see even in the dark.

    Awesome Watch
I hesitated to buy this watch because of the price but spoiled myself because I've wanted it for over a year. I am not disappointed with the purchase at all. It is a great watch. It is a versatile and stylish watch that performs as well as it advertises. Highly recommended.
ProsGreat Value from LAPG Stylish Versatile Accurate
    ConsNone so far.

    Great watch!
I bought the all back Core. Bump the contrast to 7, read the Suunto forums for great tips. People complain about this watch eating batteries once a year. My Tag and S&W watch require a new battery each year. This watch I can replace the battery myself with ease and they are cheep. Get tips on the forum on the best household tool to use. (the curved end corner of a bottle opener works for me) The bottle opener is the kind that has a can opener on one side that just punches a hole in the can and the bottle opener on the other end. :) Wait for the 15% off sale.
ProsIt's all good. Stop whining about the battery

Good watch, abut what I expected
Made a change from a Sony Pathfinder, so far I like this watch. Display can be hard to read (blackout model), but so far it seems like a decent watch. Haven't had enough time with it to see if my next purchase will be another Sunnto or a Sony.

    very nice watch
I really like this watch. I'm used to having more of a dress watch and can say this is my first plastic band watch but i really like it so far. I've been wearing it for the past two months. I bought it more for work and training as it is the blacked out version and more tactical.
Prosvery light weight, looks good, no problems so far
Conssometimes a little hard to read in direct sunlight with the reversed lighting but i am getting used to it. the one thing i do not like is reading it in the dark, now if you press the light button its very clear but coming form a nice luminox where i could just glance and tell what time it is, its taking some time to get used to

    Read this before you buy
    1. I have found all sensors to be accurate. The temp is off when worn, but right on when worn attached to my jacket or kit. 2. I have had no problems seeing the negative display in all types of light conditions. 3. The storm alarm has been the only feature that has been hard to fine tune. 4. Wait till they run a 15% code and you will get at the best price out there 5. A good friend has the white face and likes it also Hope this helps. I looked at over 100 reviews before I bought this watch. I have satisfied. Thus far. Plus LA police gear rocks

How accurate is the Alti/Baro function. I don't want to compare but I had a Casio in the same price range that was useless... Maybe just a bad unit.

I haven't checked the barometer but the altimeter is dead on comparing to maps, GPS and phone.

Returned my watch as I found it too difficult to read in outdoor light - despite resetting the contrast, the watch was still difficult to read.

What is the estimated lifespan of the battery? In other words, how often would one need to replace the battery in this watch?
    2 Answers
The battery life on the Suunto Core depends on which features are used, but under normal usage the battery should last about 12 months. Heavy use of the backlight and compass will significantly reduce battery life.

Yes. Mine is just over a year old and the low battery indicator is on. It has been on for about a week now. Good thing is it is a DIY fix, no need to take it into a watch repair shop!

re: core black model - does the yellow arrow at the top rotate as a second hand around the dial? i'm ems and have been looking for a second hand that illuminates at night for pulses etc. does it glow without button activation?
    1 Answers
The arrow at the top is not the second hand. The second "hand" is digital and it does not glow at night unless the light is activated. If you are looking for a watch with a glowing second hand, you should look at Luminox watches.

how does the light button operate? if you push it, does it only stay on for 2 or 3 seconds or indefiniately, until it's pushed again? how bright is the light?
    1 Answers
When the light button is activated, the light is on for approximately 5 seconds. It is bright enough to be seen in the shade during daylight.
