The G2® is a high-output flashlight featuring a tough, corrosion-proof Nitrolon® body and bezel. It uses a precision micro-textured reflector and a SureFire incandescent lamp to produce a smooth, brilliant beam with enough power to temporarily blind and disorient an aggressor by impairing his night-adapted vision. Output is either 65 or 120 lumens, depending on which easy-to-install lamp you use—high-output or ultra high-output. The tactically-correct pushbutton tailcap switch provides secure, ergonomic activation control: press for momentary-on, twist for constant-on.

Surefire True Stories - Light Machine Gun Toast, Light Just Fine
I received a G2® Nitrolon® from my father before deploying to Iraq. He is a narcotics officer and swears by his. I mounted it on my M16 and carried it all over the Babil and Karbala provinces, using it every day.

Toward the end of my tour, while on a convoy, I was manning an M249 SAW on a gun truck. We were struck by an IED (improvised explosive device) and the vehicle flipped two and a half times, landing on its turret. The force of the blast and the rollover blew my M249 SAW from the turret, along with my M16, SureFire attached, as always.

I escaped with a few cuts and bruises. I quickly found my weapons (the SAW was toast) and proceeded to cordon off and search the area. I thought my G2 would be in the same shape as the SAW, but when I turned it on, it shined as bright as ever. I will never own another brand of flashlight. Thanks, SureFire.

P.S. I also work as a volunteer firefighter for my city. That same G2 is now mounted on my helmet.

Bought my first one in the PX in Iraq
I was working in Iraq and I thought people who paid this kind of money for a flash light were CRAZY! Then I got sick of paying $15 each for several cheep lights to see it roll off a counter hit the floor and never work again. I bought a black one of these because they are light weight, easy to pack and BLINGING BRIGHT with a Zenon bulb. This soes eat The batteries. So I ordered a yellow light in LED (so I could find it in my backpack) and I ordered a one touch end cap which is handy when your hands are full, and I ordered a LED replacment lamp for the Zenon bulb. Now I have 2 lights that are half black and half yellow. They are both converted to LED so the batteries last 11 hours of burn time. I sacraficed very little brightness for the bulb change. The faceted bezel keeps them from rolling and they fit in a pocket just fine. These lamps did 6 years of hard service in Iraq and I have been using them on the farm and in the car now for 3 more years. They have been dropped on cement off buildings and into a lake, they have stood up well to hard use. There are cheeper lights but over all these are great little torches.
Prosindestructable, Led bulb extends the battery time to 11 hours, runs just as well on cheep batteries as expensive ones, relatively waterproof, bright enough to blind an approaching human for a few seconds.
ConsThey are a little pricy and cheep 123 batteries are not available just everywhere.

    Good Light
Been using this light for a little over 4 years and it is great. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it will eat 123 batteries.
    Proslightweight and bright

    Over priced and outdated.
Still a great quality product but with LEDs dominating the compact flashlight market, a 60 lumens bulb is just weak.
    ProsSurefire quality Reliable
ConsPrice Low light output Non-LED bulb

    Love this light
I've carried this for 3 tours, and now I have them at home. Every one of my long guns has one on it, and I keep a few laying around in drawers. Bright as and durable. Had to replace the bulb in one after years of abuse. Bulb was not expensive or hard to find (I think LPG actually sells the replacements).
ProsBright, durable, works well on a rifle. Looks cool.
