First time I ever had problems with a stream light product. Received in sealed blister pack, but light would not turn on.switched several sets of batteries no go. This is no way LAPG fault, contacted them and they quickly took care of problem so 5 stars to them.

Love these lights
Just got it, but am really impressed with the brightness and features of this light. I have two of the older, high intensity models, and am looking to much longer battery life from the LED model. The high, low, and strobe features are fairly easy to access. Now I just have to find a kid to adapt my older lights to LED.
ProsBetter battery life.
ConsFeatures sometimes hard to access.

well built and highly functional
I have several Streamlight flashlights but this was my first poly flashlight. This light is well built, the flashlight has a great feel in the hand, the large clip is easy to clip with one hand or wearing gloves. The screw caps have a tight fit but do not bind even in 3 degree weather. I would definitely purchase another one and recommend purchasing this light.
Prosall listed above
ConsNot the most powerful light on the market, but great for the price.

ProsCompact, tough lots of light!

Great back up
Small, tough and durable. Great secondary light.

Button easy to function. Other lights difficult to use with my arthritis fingers. Clip mounted perfectly to put it in pocket and retrieve in tactical situations. Worth the money by far.

Great alternative to Surefire
For normal everyday use, the PolyTac is a great, if not the best, alternative to the Surefire G2X (iirc that's the SF equivalent to the SL). The 10-Tap is easy to program, the light is lightweight, waterproof to a certain degree, bright, and lasts a long time. Not to mention the price, for the frugal, means you can buy more of these. Another added feature to this light is the strong clip that lets you carry bezel up. My own personal use is limited to home, work, and range (handheld only, not weapon mounted). I've never put these lights to use in combat or even rigorous "tactical" training courses, so I can't speak to their reliability under those conditions.

Best light for the price
I was looking for a new light for work. I do not have a lot of money for a light. When I saw this I purchased it. I like everything about. The belt clip is big enough to fit a duty belt. I started to carry myour light next my pepper spray which I wear in fornt. I have had no issues with the light coming off my belt other the light turning on prematurely. I also like thevery low light setting as well. I feel I go a good deal on the light. It is bright and clips onto my belt.
ProsThe brightness of the light. The light settings. The pocket clip.
ConsNone I could find right now.

poly tac light
This is a great lil light for the price. This is actually my 2nd one. Got the first for my dad & he loved it. Real good beam, provided a lot of light and the body of the light is strong for being a heavy duty plastic.
ProsPrice weight size
ConsBatteries can be expensive

Does this light have the touch button in the rear which enables user to momentarily pulse the light on and off like the Surefire G2? Or is it a full click to constant on operation?
The one I purchased through LAPG has momentary on/off and strobe capability. Prior to my retirement on 03Feb17, I supplied these lights to my armed security services division, which division is a department of the Superior Court in Yuma County, AZ. After 29.5 years of LE service, my opinion is, these flashlights offer top shelf service ... I still carry one daily. DWJOBE

It has a simple rear click on/off button. You can apply slight pressure to momentarily flash the lighth though. But it's a "full click" button

Yes. Has the momentary on button. Push all the way in to keep on.

the butting is click for on and click again for off. There is some play and it is really easy to use it as a momentary switch. That said, if you are looking to use it with a handgun I would go with the surefire only because under stress it may be too easy to click it all the way on.

It's a great light and the switch allows you to use it momentarily and it's on the tail cap. Hope this helps

Which size of the 7311 light pouch will work for this?
I use an older Uncle Mikes basketweave pouch with the velrco adjustable top flap that I originally purchased for a Streamlight Scorpion. The pouch fits the Poly Tac just fine. I have not removed the pocket clip from the flashlight as I use it quite a bit at work. When I put the flashlight in the pouch, the pocket clip goes on the outside. I would guess that anything sized for the Scorpion would work.

Is this flashlight explosion proof? For environments where combustibles are present
It's weather proof and built to withstand high impact. I cannot confirm whether it's explosion proof though. Here's their product spec sheet for this item, but you may need to contact them directly for information regarding if they are explosion proof - http://www.streamlight.com/static/document/info_sheet_with_part_numbers/polytac_ss.pdf

Mounted to a rifle in 7.62x39mm, will this light hold up to the recoil? I've heard this gun works great on AR-15s, but that using it on other heavier-hitting guns with more recoil like a twelve gauge can make the flashight's spring warp with their recoil until the light no longer works. Anyone use this with an AK?
I have this light mounted on: AR-15, AK47, & Rem 870. I have not noticed any issues with activation switch spring, however there is less than 200 rounds total fired across all three weapons with light installed. I am a recreational shooter, and all lights at QD mount style-not all shooting is done with light mounted. The three polytechs I own have been flawless and serve duty beyond just a weapon light. Thanks GM

Does this light have two levels of output?
The new version of the light has three outputs. HIGH = 275 lumens, LOW = 14 lumens, and there is also a STROBE mode. The light is programmable, and allows you to set it up for HIGH only, or HIGH / STROBE / LOW, or LOW / HIGH. If you have the light set up for more than one output, you cycle through modes by hitting the switch within .4 seconds of the previous activation of the switch.
