    replacing my Streamlight SL-20L
Have always carried at least two duty lights since the early eighties, when only Maglite seemed to offer a durable bright for the time large D cell, then progressed to Streamlight's SL series to present. I know with many departments, you can't carry a large small baton sized light these days, but they still have their role, and Pelican was wise to seize upon Streamlight's lack of progress in this size duty light.
Pros-More comfortable grip in temperature extremes -better texture grip for all hands, especially smaller than XL hands -roughly twice the hot spot beam as the Streamlight SL-20L -programmable -can use common C cell batteries if the long lasting rechargeable dies -will fit traditional D ring holsters used for Mag, Streamlight, etc... -well balanced -non roll design
Cons-not nearly as chemical resistant as aluminum light -switch size barley good with gloves -switch engagement feel could use more distinction

    One Great Patrol light
Wish I would've had this at the beginning of my career. ONE BRIGHT LIGHT ! Was never a Mag-light guy, always preferred Streamlight. I would choose this any day over Streamlight. Now that I'm retired, I'm gonna buy a couple more and place them around the house for general usage.
ProsLove that you can use the supplied re-chargeable battery, OR some "c" size batteries and get the same brightness.
    ConsNone that I've noticed.

on/off switch works only half the time
The light is super bright and lightweight for it's size. However, the moment I took the brand new light out of the box, the on/off switch did NOT work. I took out the rechargeable battery and reinstalled it, but that was only a temporary fix. Pelican may need to look at this potential issue with the light as it may not work when you need the light the most. LA Police Gear has always been a good company to do business with and maybe the next light I get will work better.
Prossuper bright, duty size, strobe and flash mode
Conslight may have a glitch in the on/off switch

    Excellant
Have used this flashlight at work for about a week & its a great product. Much lighter & brighter than the rechargeable mag lite I was using. It fits well in my duty bag and in my hand during car stops.

    One Tough Flashlight!!
I have an older model 8060 (5 years old) that was thrown through a interior residential wall and exited the other side. The 8060 did show minor signs of trauma, but still functions 100% without ill effect... The only complaint about the 8060 is the light lens has looked scratch since I got it new.

    Brings back memories...
I used this item on the flightline when in the USAF, managed to find it today for the black friday parking lot sale. It works as good as I remember it. I just need more. Mire than enough light to find the dog on my property or perform maintenance.
    ProsRechargeable, brightness, grip, weight
ConsPolycarbonate lens is not chemical friendly, aluminum shroud can get toasty

    This light is Yuuuuge!!
Been using it for approximately 3 weeks. Big beefy light that worked great for an article search at a recent crime scene. Nice focused beam. As some has mentioned the rubber switch may seems a bit weak in comparison the to the rest of the body of the flashlight it's self. Not a deal breaker. The body is a tank, yet light enough to carry in the hand for long periods of time. The head does get a bit warm when the light is on for long periods of time, but that's what you great for a strong powerful beam of light that illuminates the places you need to see into. Get it already!
ProsSolidly built. Powerful beam of light. Lightweight for its size. Rechargeable!
ConsSwitch seems weak in comparison to its robust body.

    Great light. Plenty of power.
    ProsVery bright
ConsRed low power light comes on after about 1/2/ hour of use. Where the lens contacts with the battery, had to clean off. Seems to work now.

    Bright Flashlight
Overall I like this light. It is very bright and just the right size. The only issue I have with it is that once in awhile it will not turn on. I can be using it and shut if off for a second and then go to turn it back on and it will not turn on. I have to take the battery out and back in and that will usually fix the issue. Wish I knew why it was doing that. Otherwise it is a great flashlight.
ProsBright, Long range, comfortable size. Like that I can use C batteries if the battery goes dead.
ConsRandomly will not turn on after shut off until I take out and reinstall the battery.

I've searched Pelican's website and couldn't find answer. I've browsed several user/ owner forums. Most believe that this light is assembled in the US, which leads me to believe that the components are manufactured overseas.

    3 Answers
The only flashlight holder that we know will work with this is a D cell flashlight holder, we have a few options for that - http://www.lapolicegear.com/unclemikes-sentinel-flashlight-ring.html http://www.lapolicegear.com/hp-dcell-flashligh-holder.html http://www.lapolicegear.com/bi64flri.html I'll check with other customers to see if they know of an actual pouch that will work for you.

I dont carry this light on my gunbelt - its 13" long! I keep this flashlight in my patrol bag in the police car, and wear a Stre, light Strion on my gunbelt. I bought this flashlight because I needed a polycarbonate model over a metal/aluminum one because of how cold they get when they are left in the car all night. The metal in the other flashlights would get so cold you coldly physically hold them. This Pelican is very bright, almost too bright for car stops. I have noticed on a tinted window the flashlight reflects very strongly back into my eyes and distorts my vision. Be warned of that. Stay safe!
