    Excellent value for the money.
For less than $1000 you get a solid Swiss made watch with H3 illumination and a dependable ETA 2824 automatic movement. If you want a flashy watch, the GSAR isn't for you. If you want a dependable workhorse, look no further.

    Just received
Just received my GSAR after several years of wanting badly. LAPoliceGear had an issue with the shipping and without my having to ask, bumped it from first class mail to two day, and I had it within my original window! Very smooth process with their customer support. As for the watch, it is everything I was hoping for. The build is incredibly solid feeling, and the attention to detail is incredible. I have only had it for 2 days, so I cannot speak to the accuracy as of yet, but will provide an update after several weeks of wear. I see myself wearing this watch for years and years to come.
ProsTritium tubes are incredibly bright and perfectly visible sweep second hand it smooth and beautiful bezel is rock solid as is the crown look and feel of this watch makes it just as comfortable with a wetsuit as with a 3-piece suit
Consthe face feels smaller in person than the videos and pics I had seen online. I believe the deepness of the well boxes in the face a little. I own narrower watches that 'wear' a little wider the arrow on the bezel doesn't seem to align perfectly with the tritium tube on the 12 position, but this again may be the well deepness throwing my eye off

    Great first automatic
I ordered this watch with the sterile dial in late November. It was on backorder for about a month, but shipped quickly once it was in stock. Thank you, LAPG! This is my first automatic watch. My other watch is a Traser Commander 100 Force, which is quartz and titanium cased with a titanium bracelet. Very lightweight and has a low profile. In comparison, the Marathon GSAR is taller and heavier due to its chunky bezel and stainless steel case, yet wears comfortably on a single-piece watch strap. I mostly wear mine on a Zulu strap, but I also use either a single-piece vulcanized rubber strap or a single-piece perlon strap. I don't intend on acquiring the stainless steel bracelet for this watch, though I have read they're pretty awesome. While the stock two-piece vulcanized rubber strap is nice, I wish the single-piece strap came stock. The tritium has a constant brightness in the dark, but I wish the 12 o'clock pip on the bezel was also tritium instead of maraglo. The bezel cleanly rotates counter clockwise 120 clicks and is not difficult to rotate. The crown is a 3 position screw down crown which allows you to wind the watch, set the date, and stop the second hand to set/synchronize time. The watch I received has been very accurate straight out of the box. After a couple weeks since setting it, it's only running a few seconds faster than the time it was set at. All in all, I love this watch as much as I love my titanium Traser.
ProsSolidly built 2824-2 Swiss auto movement Sapphire crystal watch face Tritium illumination
ConsNo option to choose single-piece strap instead of two-piece strap.

Awesome Watch at an Awesome Price
This is an absolute tank of a watch. It is a "tool" diving watch and LAPG has it priced well below what other major online stores offer it for. Plus, if you get one when LAPG runs a store discount, you will be getting an even bigger deal! The watch case is rugged stainless steel construction and the unidirectional bezel performs flawlessly. I ordered the Marathon stainless steel strap for it and changed out the rubber one. It really transforms the watch to a classic look. So far it seems to keep very good time for an automatic movement and has a good reserve time too. It's size is a bit deceiving. Although its bezel diameter is around 41 mm, it wears like its even smaller. I can't find any faults with this watch at the price level and I'm sure it will last for years after I abuse it on the firing range and out in the field. Keep in mind its a rather tall watch on the wrist so I can see it take an unintentional hit or two once in awhile. Get one! Even if you find you don't like it after a few months or so, you will be able to sell it on the market and get your money back. You can't go wrong here.
Pros- Built like a tank - Excellent bezel - Tritium dial - Keeps good time and good reserve power - Has its own beautiful and unique look - Great overall quality at a super price
Cons- Maybe a cluttered dial with too much info on it?? Maybe not... - Maybe a little to tall on your wrist??? Maybe not...

    Caveat Emptor
Slow, did not keep correct time, eventually stopped. Reset it, somehow lost an entire day. Have placed said watch in the Lessons Learned file.

Great watch, just what I was looking for!
i haven't taken the watch off since I received it several weeks ago. I hand wound it to start it off and haven't had to do that since. The self winding function of this watch is great and truly lives up to the reputation of a tried and true Swis movement. I really like the obvious ruggedness an high quality. It is a little slow at about 7 seconds per day but within expected accuracy from the factory, although this movement is,probably capable of greater accuracy. Nevertheless, I'm a little obsessive about accuracy but for most of us, there won't be a need to reset the watch more than once a week or so. LA Police Gear shipped it to me and it arrived in good order within the specified shipping time. This is now my best watch. Great product and excellent service.

    excellent tool watch
Rugged and accurate... Mine keeps time to within 5 seconds a day. I'm not worried about damaging it, because it's tough as nails. The sapphire crystal is nearly impossible to scratch. Great watch, and the best price is right here.
ProsDurable, accurate, easy to read day or night.
ConsThe supplied strap isn't very comfortable, I upgraded to the stainless bracelet. Had to go elsewhere to order that.

    Terrific watch
I've had this watch for about two years. I don't dive anymore, but love automatic dive watches. The Marathon GSAR keeps excellent time (the best of all my automatice).
ProsAccurate. cool looking, reasonable price for the quality.
ConsThick, it doesn't "ware" as well as some of my Seikos.

    RUGGED QUALITY TIMEPIECE
I have been wearing this watch for 3 weeks now. I am very pleased with the way it's built, it keeps great time for an automatic movement. More accurate than my beloved Rolex GMT Master. I am so pleased with this watch, I purchased another for my Brother-in-law. I am very hard to please ( I always look for quality. and I am very critical) Believe me when I tell you. BUY THIS WATCH ! LAPG has a good price and their service was good. The tritium dial and hands are very bright and readable at night. The bezel turns with a "Quality Feel" and is easy to grip. Being a die-hard watch nut- this watch rules.
    ProsBig,Robust,Rugged,easy to read
ConsCrown would have looked better had it been made just a little bit shorter.

    Great watch for the money
Very heavy, so if you like beefy watches this might be for you. The tritium really makes it glow so is this is an easy read at night. Keeps good time so far. Only complaint: dial is very busy with all of the subchapter marks and 24 hour numbers. Having been in the military, it's pretty easy to manage a 24 hour clock with a 12 hour watch - we all get used to it so it's really not necessary and just clutters up the dial making quick acquisition of the hour/min hands just a little tougher than it should be. One great edition: add a GMT hand that keeps 24 hr time instead of the sub numbering - this is great for travel too if it is independently adjustable.
ProsBeefy, great visibility at night, automatic, attractive price point for what you get.
ConsDial could be a little cluttered for quicker acquisition of the hour/min hands. Recommend the steel bracelet

    BUY THIS!
I have been looking for a nice Automatic Diver and my buddy pointed me to Marathon saying that it fits what I like and its a well made watch. Been eyeing this watch for months and finally pulled trig on it and man do i love this thing! I bought it on LA Police Gear because it was cheaper than any other website and I know this site has good security and a good reputation, so why not save $30. Plus i used that money to buy a few nice nylon Zulu straps (not a fan of the standard rubber). Overall I LOVE this watch and get compliments wherever I wear it. Not too big, not too bulky, great durability, and can easily be dressed up with a blazer or worn to the pool with a tank. If you're in doubt, don't be.

    Great Mil-Spec Watch
I was issued a Marathon watch while in the Army and it has gone through just about everything and still works great, when I saw the price on them at LAPolice gear I grabbed it immediately, they have the best price you can find.

    Good Looking Tool Watch
Overall rock solid watch. The picture is the latest version. Note, the second hand is no longer Maraglo, it is also Tritium. Very solid service from LA Police Gear, timely responsiveness & rapid delivery.
ProsKeeps good time. High quality for the money. Built to take a beating. Nice looking watch.
ConsI actually wish the second hand was the former Maraglo version, but this has nothing to do with either LA Police Gear, or the functionality of the watch, just a different direction Marathon opted to go.

That shouldn't affect the warranty on the watch at all, warranties are typically from the time you purchased the item.
