Maxpedition Hook & Loop Modular Universal CCW Holster 3501
SKU #: MaxP-3501
The Universal CCW Holster attaches with hook side velcro to loop velcro sewn in various Maxpedition packs. 2" retention strap can be adjusted for a snug fit to your weapon.
How To Use the #3501 Univ. CCW Holster:
#3501 Univ. CCW Holster is equipped with "hook" fasteners. Compatible packs have compartments equipped with "pile". First adjust the loop of the holster so it fits your firearm securely. To adhere the holster to the bag, simply press the "hook" side of the holster onto the "pile" field inside the pack. Position as desired to facilitate draw.
If your #3501 Univ. CCW Holster is delivered with the loop flipped backwards, simply reverse it. We do this to prevent the hook from abrading other items while in the factory.
Univ. CCW Holster can be positioned securely in a position best suited for user within the following Maxpedition products:

Maybe I just haven’t figured out how to use it yet, but so far I’m less than satisfied. There are a number of other awesome reviews of this product, which is one of the reason I went with it. The pictures don’t do it justice, though. It is essentially a T-shaped piece of nylon with Velcro on it. That’s all well and good, but the strap part that wraps around the gun is a little too short. Wrapping around my XD left the strap about half way attached to the back. That makes it sit crooked and leaves me feeling like it is just that much less secure. The inside of the strap has a rubbery kind of material on it. I imagine it’s to help retention, which it does, but it’s not spaced very well. Depending on how you have your gun placed, it either has a nice grip on the trigger guard, or the slide, but not both. When drawing from the holster, the gun kind of hangs and you don’t get an even draw. I would not recommend this product to a friend.
ProsFabulous quality material and stitching. The parts that stick stick well
ConsStrap too short, rubbery grip not spaced well.

Great for use inside bags
This holster is great for use in my go bag and back pack and would be great in any bag that has backing that can hold Velcro. The simplicity of it's design belies how well it works with almost any sidearm. The only limiting factor I have found so far is the size of the bag you have.
ProsStrong Velcro backing and adjustable "holster" band fits almost any sidearm.
ConsNo retention mechanism like a thumb break to hold the sidearm in place if your bag or pack is forcefully jostled or upended.

Does a decent job in my range bag
I picked this up along with an LA Police Gear Bail out Bag for use as a range bag. The modular holster seem to be holding the pistols in the bag without a problem.
ProsGood for a range bag or tactiacl rifle case for holding a pistol.

Can these be used to carry a standard AR15 magazine?
For that purpose I would look at these: http://www.lapolicegear.com/maxp-pt1069-hnl-carbine.html I hope this helps!

Yes, if you are careful about how you do it. If you keep them inside a compartment/pocket of some sort they will work just fine.
