Description

The new LA Police Gear Operator L2 Flashlight brings new meaning to bang for your buck. Your initial reaction to this flashlight might be skepticism because of the insanely low price - but don't doubt the quality and brightness of this flashlight. This thing packs a high mode of a scorching 730 lumens and also has a Medium, Low, and Strobe setting. Now typically such a bright light would not last long at that level, but this light can run for 2.3 hours on its high mode and 70 hours on its low mode. Combine that with the unique "twist to program" capability, and you have an amazing flashlight at an amazing price backed by LAPG, the best in the industry. If that wasn't enough, this flashlight also includes (2) CR123 batteries and a nylon belt/molle holster.

Try it out, we know you'll love it as much as we do!

Totally Predictable Tactical Mode
In tactical situations it is extremely important that an officer know exactly how his light is going to perform before it is activated. To this end, both of the LA Police Gear Operator Flashlights operate exactly the same way. In the “Tactical Mode” there are two outputs, Strobe and High Output. Switching between the two outputs requires only a “tap” of the tail switch. To put either light into the “Tactical Mode” requires that the officer simply tighten the head of the flashlight. The flashlights have been programmed to start in the High output whenever the light is started or switched to the Tactical mode. In a critical situation the officer knows with complete confidence that if he tightens the head of either light, it will start out in the High output when activated. A simple tap of the tail switch changes to the Strobe output continuous beam. Another tap returns to the High output.

Non-Tactical Working Mode
This mode of operation is accessed by loosening the head of either light a few degrees. In this mode the light has three outputs. High, Medium and Low accessed in that order through tail switch taps. When in the Non-Tactical Mode, the flashlight has a memory that start the light out in the last used output level. When in this mode, tightening the head immediately returns the light to the Tactical Mode - High/Strobe Output.

The LA Police Gear Operator Flashlights have two outputs, High and Medium for normal searching and other investigative work. The Low output is designed to be comfortable for activities like report writing.

Features:

  • LED: Cree XM-L
  • High Output: 730 Lumens (2.3 Hours)

    Best flashlight yet!
This is the best, brightest, sturdiest, no-frills flashlight I have found on the market for this good of a price. Not only is it the best thing since sliced bread, but it also comes with spare O-rings and a spare rubber switch cover. I recommend every one in the world to have this flashlight. I have bought three of them. Just buy the flashlight..... Even if you can't afford it. Just do it. Stop reading.... No, seriously, just hit the "add to cart" button and save yourself some time. And if you can't afford it, file bankruptcy and buy it. Wait, its only $40?!?!?!?!?! Like I said, its the best. If you need a flashlight, this is the one.

    Excellent purchase
The light is great and the other reviews hit the high notes. My only real complaint is that you cannot set it to high output only. If you are doing quick light checks, the strobe comes on when not wanted.

Great light a big improvement over the 330 lumen/1xCR123 model
I had the 330 lumen version of this light and it was defective. I rolled the dice a second time and bought this one based on the positive reviews. It's been my nightly EDC ever since I got it. The light is bright with a great throw to it. After about three days of wearing it I realized I could switch it over to a second set of functions - high/medium/low from high/strobe. This is the only part I dislike. The instructions seem overly vague to me and the light seems finicky about the second set of functions - e.g. I would swear that I've had it switch from high to medium on me without me touching the tail cap. But so far, this hasn't been any kind of the deal-breaker. The 330 lumen light had a mind of its own, switching modes without warning. It couldn't even use it. In contrast, I use this regularly around the house - running out to my car to grab something at night, working in the basement, looking under couches, etc. Overall, I am happy with this light. I will note that it heats up quick. It's not what I call "Coast light" hot but you can tell if you have used it for five minutes or more. It gets notably warm around the lamp. It's putting out a lot of light from a small package. Can't say I'm distressed or surprised by the warmth but it was unexpected the first time I used it for more than a momentary blink at the high (730 lumen) output. Still and all, this is a keeper and LAPG has another winning product on its hand. This is a lot of light and capability for an affordable package. It isn't going to replace their 2XAA flashlight as my favorite go-to light but it's a close second.
ProsLots of functionality Light weight Comfortable grip Lots of SWAG come with it - o-rings, lanyard, etc. Bright - in the "what-is-that-why-is-it-so-bright-turn-it-off" category with my family
ConsSome might not like the heat build-up The switch-over from one set of modes to the other seems like it could be better explained.

    Nice light
Just bought two of these lights on a recommendation from a friend. So far these seem to be great lights and I am impressed. The light appears to be well made including the switch. And at 730 lumens, the light is very bright of course. Will have to see how the light holds up over time but we are off to a good start.

    Great light for the money!
I have been looking at and comparing a lot of flashlights over the past couple of months and had narrowed a list down to about three or four lights, but I could not justify some of the light costs such as MSRP or the battery costs such as the CR123a. One flashlight that I wanted was the Strion DS HL, but then I came across the LAPG Operator L2. I could not pass on purchasing the L2 due to the price being one third of the Strion, it is brighter (only by 30 lumens), has a longer run time and accepts the 18650 batteries. I already own 4, 18650 batteries, so the purchase of the L2 was unquestionable. I work in the county jail, so it does not get used a ton while I'm on duty, but when I do use it, I am extremely glad that I have such a bright and reliable light.

Very good flashlight for the money
This is a good flashlight I work as a correctional officer and have to do bed checks at night. The lower setting is bright enough to see without waking him up, the highest setting allows you to see everything you would need to see in any other situation. Very good flashlight for the money.

    Great Hand Held Light
This is the second batch I have purchased of the L2. I have replaced my Maglights with these amazing lights. They are obviously smaller and much brighter. I carry one in my pack when I travel (was stuck in dark hotel once after a California minor earthquake so that taught me that). Every night stand has one and I have one handy for doing the odd job around the house that needs a light. These lights use batteries that are easy to find and last fairly long during long use. But best of all you can't beat the price for the quality. The only con I have is the cycling of the light between on and strobe cant be over rid but I still rate it 5 star overall

    Does not consistently work
I primarily use the light in the non tactical mode. The light worked OK for the first few times. Then it would start changing modes soon after I turned it on. I thought the batteries were bad so I replaced them. No change. When I switch the light on in high or medium mode, after a few seconds it will Switch to low mode or turn off. If it switched to low mode, shaking the light would sometimes change the light back to high or medium mode for a few seconds, then back to low or off. Very disappointed in this light. I have purchased numerous LAPG items and have been well satisfied with them, but not this light.

    Great value!
Not a professional, but dedicated amateur who wanted a high value compact light. Incredible value for the price. A lot of light in a compact efficient package. Only two weeks of use and it has already proved it's worth in the dark. Easy to use with a pistol in hand and lights "target" area as well as illuminating my sights.
ProsBright, clear light. All functions transition smoothly. The extras ("O" Ring, button cover, etc.) that come with it are a huge plus as well. I will just need to remember where I put them.

I love this flashlight. It is bright and easy to use. I like the way you can easily shift from tactical to non-tactical modes. It does get warm during prolonged use, but so does every other tactical flashlight I've used.

    EDC favorite
This light haa outstanding features and functions at an amazing price! The Operator L2 flashlight is my all-day, everyday carry light, replacing my (really old) Surefire G2Z. I carry with the lamp head screwed down so it automatically comes on at the highest setting for emergency application, and REALLY like that, for typical needs, I just unscrew the lamp head 1/4-turn, activate the switch, and it automatically "remembers" to come on at the lowest power level. I will definitely recommend this light to friends, acquaintances, and all the students in our tactical firearms classes.
ProsSlim form factor easily fits the accessory pocket of 5.11 TacLite pants. Dual modes (emergency/casual) with a quarter turn. Remembers the last setting, no need to cycle thru. Everything included... Case, clip, lanyard, even batteries. Carrying case design... Belt loop, Molle attach, and D-ring, covers every mounting need.
ConsPocket clip is bright stainless steel instead of black to match light body.

    Awesome EDC light
Little bit of a learning curve for figuring out what does what, but a little time on YouTube tells you everything you need to know in order to use this as an effective EDC light. I wear pretty slim jeans and it fits in the pocket with ease and I have no worry that I'll accidentally hit the button. Already dropped it a few times in mud and on concrete and after cleaning it up there were barely a few scratches. Battery life is pretty solid with stock batteries and even if they die on you, they're easy to come across. Overall very good experience.
ProsBattery life Brightness Range Durability Size
ConsEase of use Strike bezel is insignificant at best

I am not sure since I don't use either of those. However, the measurements might help. It has a 1" shank which seems to be common in tactical lights. It has two modes for simplicity. I bought it for my wife to walk the dogs after dark on the plantation, I set the mode for non-tactical use for simplicity. She loves it because it has enough power ti really light up the pasture, and it is so compact and light. The lifetime warranty is a great plus, too.

When the battery is low, it will blink to let you know that's you should change them soon. If you did change the batteries with fresh ones and it is still doing that, than it could be the contacts need cleaning and we recommend using an alcohol soaked cotton swab to clean the contact points. If you are still not having success with it working properly, than please refer to the warranty because it could be that you received a defective product.

Hello, I was curious on how to replace the tailcap button boot, my old one came off and the new one doesn't seem to fit.
    1 Answers
Take off the tailcap. Beside the spring is a disk of metal with two holes in it. This is called the retaining ring. If you stick something into these two holes (needle nose pliers, nails, splitring pliers, etc), you can unscrew that ring clockwise. Once out, take careful note of the order that the switch components come out. It's probably something like: ring, PCB with spring and switch soldered onto opposite sides, plastic and/or metal washer, rubber boot. Replace the desired components, and carefully reassemble in reverse order.

If you're looking for a good holster to fit this light, I purchased an UltraFire brand holster off of eBay for really cheap that holds it really well with the removable belt clip attached to the flashlight that it comes with. The holster itself was around $5 if my memory serves me correctly, and is an open top holster that swivels so you can keep the light in the holster and point it in any direction you need to. It also just clips right on to my duty belt or you can clip it onto your personal belt or even your waist band. I know LAPG doesn't carry it, however, it's a great alternative to the holster it comes with. Good luck.

depending on the light that is ordered yes we do sell a few different styles. for example if the L1 is ordered you can order the Bianchi 7326 AccuMold Compact Light Holder in size one and this would fit our L1 flashlight.

    2 Answers
at this time this light Does not operate with all RCR123A's. We recommend 3.7 volt protected against overcharge, over discharge, over current and short-circuit. some RCR123a's did have an issue due to voltage drops from the battery.

    1 Answers
our light just has a standard 1 inch o-ring. your light should have come with spare parts such as two o-rings in the box that the light comes in. usually the spare parts are located inside the holster in the package. if you can not locate these spare parts please contact our customer service center.

I am not sure on a leather case. However, the case that is provided with the flashlight has held up well on my tactical belt thus far. I have already put it through a 3 day field exercise that included rappelling, move and shoot, room clearing, live fire exercises that included running, crawling, sliding, etc. I'm not sure how the case would per say look on a duty belt but I imagine the leather would look more official. But, as for the usability it is great!
