    Runs extremely small
The leg openings are extremely small. I had to size up 2 sizes just to get them over my quads and glutes, which then leads to them falling off my waist. Even having done this, they are still so tight in those areas that I can't get my wallet in my back pocket, and instead have to keep it in one of the cargo pockets. The regular front pockets are deep, but not quite deep enough. While pocket carrying a Ruger LCR the bottom of the grip sticks out of the pocket opening. I have multiple pairs of shorts, jeans, and dress pants where this is not an issue. The shorts are also extremely thick, heavy, and do not breathe well. The 2 front quad pockets are awesome, and fit my S7 Edge perfectly, however if your phone is any bigger, it won't fit. I want to like these shorts, but until LA Police Gear makes them with larger leg holes, thus allowing them to fit guys who don't skip leg day, while actually allowing pockets to be accessible, I won't reccomend buying them.

My favorite shorts hands down !!
I first ordered the reg operator shorts and pants and loved them . Then I ruined them for myself like the time I ordered the 10 dollar caesars deep dish pizza . After buying the 5 dollar pizza for so long I could never go back after I tried the deep dish . So is it when it comes to the operator Elite pants and shorts . They bring a level of comfort and range of motion that are truly unsurpassed . My goto concealed carry garment for comfort during carry and pocket selection for EDC . Believe me when I say You Will Not Regret Purchasing the Operator Elite by LAPG .
ProsRange of motion whilst wearing . Plenty of carefully placed pockets for your extensive EDC daily carry Items . Price is unheard of affordable . Stylish and color selection is great in earthtones and blue . I could go on and on till the cows come home .
ConsI don't have enough of them !

    Very good at this price
I've only had these a week so I can't speak for long-term durability, but they appear to be very well constructed so I am not worried. I am a huge fan of 5.11 and these shorts remind me of my favorite 5.11 pants: tons of well-placed pockets, comfortable expanding waistband, heavy duty zipper, and double stitched everything. I really like the cut of these shorts...they have plenty of room for full range of motion, but have a more modern fit and avoid the frumpy, too-baggy look. The material is tough; no worry that it will tear easily, though that does mean they're not the coolest in hot weather. My new go-to short
ProsAll. The. Pockets. Expanding waistline Modern fit Solid construction Tough material
ConsNot the coolest in hot weather

    Great shorts
I purchased several pair of the Elite Operator shorts several months ago at the regular price, and when they recently came on sale I purchased several more. My only complaint is that Navy color shorts are not offered. Other than that the shorts fit well, are sturdy, sit well, and I have no doubt the shorts will last several years. There are many pockets in the shorts to suit most purposes. When the Navy color shorts are offered I will also purchase them.

    Lots of storage
I usually wear a 34" waist, but ordered 36" based on other reviews. They fit well, so I'm glad I did. Plenty of room to move, crouch, etc. The knife pocket is too shallow for my EDC knives, but would probably be fine for something with a 2.5-3" blade. These shorts are warmer than I expected, probably due to all the layers of pocket material.
    ProsLots of storage Seem durable
ConsA bit warm. Knife pocket too shallow for 4" blades.

I have so many questions...... Are the shorts only for "Elite Operators"? Do the shorts help you operate elitely? Are the shorts elite? Do the shorts make you "Elite Operators"? Operators wear shorts?
    1 Answers
Good questions. These are restricted to Elite Operators only, anything else would be as we say back home; “All hat, no cattle” so please only purchase if you are serious about your tactical apparel. For those at Elite Operator level these have been shown in double-blind studies to increase eliteness between 37-46% and attractiveness up to 78%. The shorts themselves are not Elite without the operator however there is an unconfirmed report of these shorts being awesome, causing your enemies to throw down their weapons, arrest themselves, and apologize sincerely for their misconduct. These cannot make you Elite. That comes with years of deliberate practice, loving freedom, and good genetics. However the range of motion you can achieve in these shorts will allow you to unleash powerful kicks and knees which may give you just the edge you need. Operators do indeed wear shorts on the weekends and the 4th of July. I hope this was helpful, if you have any other questions just ask and we will be happy to help.

The waist size is measured before you put them on and stretch them out, so the 38 I bought actually expands larger. My waist is a 38 and the 38 size shorts easily fit an IWB holster

I am about a 35inch waist and ordered these shorts in a 36. I conceal carry and the elastic waistband helps tremendously with comfort with these shorts. The 36" shorts are comfortable, but slightly loose for me. With a belt I don't notice it at all, but without a belt I can still wear them comfortably without fear of them falling down thanks to the elastic. The elastic is 'hidden' in the waistband, which is one of the reasons why I purchased these myself, and I feel the size 36 could still fit comfortably if I put on another inch or two in the waistline, if that makes sense. To answer your question bluntly, I am not sure if the measurements are taken with the elastic expanded or not, but if you order your regular waist size I don't think you'll have any problems. Hope this helps!

I bought the 34 inch waist shorts. As far as I can tell they are 34 inches. I have just purchased them and have not worn them yet but trying them on when they arrived, they fit well. Being short and husky, I wish you made them in a 7 inch inseam.

Can the back sap pockets carry ar mags?
    1 Answers
Yes, they fit gi mags, pmags, ets, and hexmags. Two pockets back of the thigh and two pockets front as well for four mags if you want. Also each side cargo pocket has two elastic loops inside to keep two more mags snug against your leg so if you want to you can carry 8 magazines total in one pair of shorts and still have plenty of room in the cargo pockets, as well as your two front, 2 back and a knife pocket free for your regular items. I wear these shorts or pants every day, I have 4 pairs, usually keep a 3c maglite in one of the back sap pockets. Favorite most comfortable shorts ever.

I have several pairs of LA Police Gear Operator Tactical shorts in size 34 which is about the right fit for my waist (perhaps a tad on the large size which is okay). I was going to order the Elite Operator Shorts in size 34, but several reviewers say that they run small and that the indicated size is only in the fully expanded position. One reviewer clearly states that he normally wears 34 but had to send the 34 Elite Operator Shorts back for a 36 because the 34 did not allow him to carry IWB concealed. Please address this issue and advise size. Don't want to pay for a return. Also is the front side pocket large and deep enough to carry pocket holster? Thanks.
    7 Answers
This isn't an easy question for me because every body is different and the shorts may fit you differently. For me, the waist size seems pretty much standard to the way my other pants fit. However, they seem a bit short waisted to me, so they ride slightly lower than my other pants do. Nothing major, they just feel a little different. And I am able to IWB carry with these shorts. I am satisfied with the way they fit me, but you could feel totally different. Short of trying them on, I think you're just going to have to risk it.

If your operators are a tad big you should be fine I'm a tad on the other side of 34 and should have gotten a 36 Carrry a glock 26 front right pocket pocket a bit shallow ( 1/2" deeper would be perfect) otherwise great pants Normally wear tru spec 24/7's and they are the next best thing!

Both sides of the safari pockets have double elastic wide elastic retainers sewed to the body side of the pocket to hold mags or in my case my Kahr 380 holster and pistol. Keeps it from rattling around and sagging the pocket. For IWB, unless 34 is loose I would go for 36. The sizing seems dead on. I run in the pocket or inside the belt but outside the waist ban so hard for me to say. Great shorts.

I have both the pants and shorts and feel they are of the same size. Although, I feel both do run smaller than normal and the waist is a little lower than normal. You already have the pants in size 34, so I would say the size 34 shorts should fit similarly. Haven't tried any front pocket holsters.

Yes and No, the inside pocket retention is elastic and will fit ok. However, the length is the issue. The pmag is longer than mil spec so you have to stretch the flap of the pocket to reach the Velcro which it seems to just barely reach. Now, depending on your definition of fit. It will work but not as well as a mil spec , the lancers fit better as they are in between the mil spec and pmag. YMMV, hope this helps.

(could also be used for knife) Side / hand pockets but are 6.5" at the widest point, 5.5" at the narrow point. They are 11.75" at the deepest point, 5.5" at the shallow point.

The side cargo pockets are 7" X 7". The cargo pockets have elastic sewn inside that would allow securing a magazine. The front knife/cell pockets are 3 3/4" wide by 6 1/2" deep. There is another small knife pocket on the right rear (just above the right rear cargo pocket flap) that is 2 1/4" wide and 3 7/8" deep. And the 2 rear flashlight/baton pockets are 3 1/4" wide and 9" deep.

    1 Answers
These are still pretty new, so they are probably still getting a feel for how well they will do before adding color options. I don't show any on order for the black color, so that's an indication that it would probably be longer than 6-8 months, and since it's more of a seasonal item, it would probably be longer. If you submit an email to newbrands@lapolicegear.com requesting alternate colors to be added for this particular item, than that might help expedite us having more colors added if we see that there is a demand. How true to size are these shorts running? Other LA Gear branded shorts seem to run small.
    1 Answers
These shorts run pretty true to size. However as with our other shorts, the size that you order is with the elastic fully stretched out. So if you like them to fit a little looser you would have to order the next size up.
