Excellent pant for the sale price
After one week I'm really liking these pants, with the exception of running just a bit bigger than I had expected (mostly didn't account for the elastic in waistband), they are very comfortable, versatile pants. They are easy to wash/dry and keep their shape. Very happy with my purchase.

    Solid pant
Lots of storage and fit pretty well. On me they are a little tight around the butt. Although I've always had to buy relaxed fit style jeans normally to have enough room,so it may just be my body type. Still a great pant not only for training, but as a dad it is also great to keep kids things close at hand.

    Great pants for the price
Great pants fit really well. Make sure you know your waist size. On these unlike other LAPG pants they have a more true fit so order in your actual waist size. These also have the stretch in the waist.
    ProsStretch in the waist.
ConsWould be nice if there was stretch in all the pant to allow for better mobility.

    A good replacement for Stryke's
Love the Stryke pants from 5.11, hate the price. These pants are very similar and I hope that they have the same durability.
ProsFit as expected in waist and length.

    Tight, but great material
Pants are great quality, and .stretchy material. plenty of useable pockets. Cargo pockets have 2 elastic bands in each to allow carry of rifle magazines. unfortunately I was unaware of the leg size. They feel like skinny pants. I do not have large legs, so when pants feel tight on my thighs, they are definitely narrow in the thigh.
ProsMaterial seems sturdy, wearable, and washable. plenty of usable pockets. length and waste are on point for measurements
ConsTight thighs (wish there was a way to tell prior to spending money on them). Purchase other LAPG pants if you prefer baggier legs.

    I love these pants
This is the first item I have purchased LAPG. I am so delighted with them, they fit great, they are not too baggie, they were not sliding down all day as some of the other brands have done. They have plenty of usable pockets. I have yet to see how they do in the wash, but so far they're great.

    Great pants
These pants are better than I expected. The fit is excellent and I like the material used as it stretched a little. My only complaint is it may have to many pockets but I am not using these pants in a work environment where I would need them as some may. I like to design of the cargo pockets on these pant. With the elastic band inside the cargo pocket I'm able to use it like a built in holster for my ccw.

Easy ordering and quick delivery. The pants are true to size, very comfortable and look great. I'm a military contractor and tactical pants are a must, the magazine holder in the cargo pockets are just right. I'll be ordering more.

    Good for the price
I like all of the pockets..... the cargo pockets with the magazine loops are perfect for my smartphone. Also like the separate knife pocket. BUT, the pants fitting is OK and seems a little short waist-ed... not sure if that's a design thing or a construction error.... I have the long pants and shorts (same type)... overall very good... would be great in other colors, OD green, brown, etc
ProsLots of specialized pockets Fit well good price fast shipping
Consshort waist-ed need more colors, a green and maybe a darker brown

The pant has a short crotch area. The legs are tighter than I expected so a size up may help. It appears they have tried to go skinny with these pants. If you like the skinny fit you will love these.

The Operator pants have elastic throughout the waist, so they will be looser than some of the other tactical pants so you may not want to order a size larger like you should with some of the other tactical pants. They are roomy in the right spots and have great pockets (with elastic to hold items). the fabric is cool and comfortable too.

I'm a big guy, I wear a 40 or 42 waist in every brand and style of pants I buy from shorts to slacks and jeans; 40s are usually snug and 42s have plenty of room. I bought the 42 waist and they fit perfectly with a little room to spare (perfect for IWB handgun carry). In my case, these pants fit like just about all the other brands and styles of pants I buy.

When will LAPG restock the full range of sizes this pant had on its debut? I'd buy these, even in the limited color selection, again right now, but 32Wx30L has been out a while, and I'd rather not buy the 32Wx36" or 30Wx36" just to get them re-hemmed. Also, need more colors - Black, OD Green, Grey, Blue - basically, the same range of colors as many other LAPG pants.

I washed mine only once in cold water and dried them on the gentle cycle. After washing I I found that the 34 waist was on the somewhat relaxed side. In other words I would not have felt comfortable wearing them without a belt. That's the best answer I can give you.

I purchased these pants in 34X30 and even after washing then drying the pants, they're still one of the most comfortable pants I have. The don't feel tight, the elastic waist keeps the pant fit at the waist very consistent weather sitting or standing in my opinion. I ordered another pair in gray and went with a 32 inseam this time because the 30, though perfect standing, is just a tad too short when I sit down. Hope this helps.

I bought these after reading all the reviews on LAPG's pants. I was looking for then a pair that wasn't as baggy as other name brand tac pants. These are way less baggy, not tight on me but just right. I describe them as just enough fabric around your legs. The waist is elastic stretch type. If you have bigger thighs I would recommend getting one size up in the waist. I normally wear a 32x32 in Levi jeans, I recently wear 34x32 in Levi's due to conceal carrying. So I bought a 34x32 in these LAPG pants and they are perfect. I really like the lightweight and less baggy feel to them. So far so good!

As a stagehand (theatre & production lighting), I have to say the Elite pants are nicely designed for work pants. By default, most of our gear is black - so I'll echo the refrain for more colours in this design. I note that you suggest looking at the 'Operator pants w/ lower leg pockets' as a very similar design in more colours - which I may try out - but one of the nice features of the Elite is the low-profile cut, without the external gusseting of the other version (LAPG-PT-TOP1003EWB), and a black, client-ready cut of the Elite would be great! I do have one question, in all of the various pockets - the large side pockets have a very curious hemmed opening in the top edge. I've been unable to determine the design rationale behind this, and would love to find out! Cheers - AC

I have purchased these pants and have worn them for work several xs now. They are NOT loose like the original operator pants and seem to hang a bit low. In regards to the "pockets" I carry concealed so i keep a spare magazine, knife, light in the pockets and they do hold well. I know there are only 2 colors available and i purchased the coyote which i like very much. The rationale of the design seems to be convenience which they do provide that in abundance. i would purchase again-just keeping in mind they are cut tighter than the originals-so maybe order one size up if carrying concealed.

Their video says the pass thru's are for knives, pens, flashlights, etc that you want to clip to the top of the pocket and have quick access to. I would also love some other colors! These pants are amazing besides lack of color choice!

I often see this style of pocket construction on pants with the sliding/tunnel waistband that these have. Since the pocket is attached to both sides of the waist expansion section, it needs a way to let the two sides of the pocket slide past each other slightly as the waist expands and contracts, else the pocket will twist inside the pant. That open gusset lets the two sides of the pocket slide past each other as needed, and, as noted, provides a nice place to clip some tools. The holdover hemming keep the raw edge from fraying and provides reinforcement against wear and tear when using it to clip tools.

I have already purchased the two colors but want other color options. I prefer these pants to 5.11 Stryke Tactical for bot fit and price. When will you finally make these in black or other colors?!!! You have enough people interested... That is obvious. Just do it or I will purchase 5.11 Stryke pants on a different web site.

First, I have to say that these are my favorite pair of tactical pants besides my 5.11 Stryke pants. The material is a little better and thicker than that of lapg operator pants with elastic waist band. But I would say that lapg tactical operator pants 21.99 are your best bet. I use 30x30 in 5.11 Strike pants. How does your Elite pants compare in fit?
    5 Answers
The LA Police Gear Elite pants are sized quite small, so order a size up. I am usually a 32x36, but I ordered a 34x36 because of some other reviews, the waist was sized right at 34, but the thighs are about 2 sizes too small. Now I do have unusually large thighs compared to my waist size, but I have tried many other tactical pants which were a 32 in the waist and they all had a baggier cut. So even with a 34x36 it still feels a bit tight. So I would recommend getting 1-2 sizes larger in the waist, depending on if you have small legs or big legs. I find the length runs about true to size. With the sizing issue out of the way, the rest of the pants are very good, I would give a 4 star rating. The pocket layout is good, I really like the internal organizers in the cargo pocket. I like to clip all of my EDC items inside of the cargo pockets and the elastic organizers keep everything in place against the side wall instead of bunching up at the bottom of the pocket where they all scratch each other and chafe your leg. Also, the elastic organizers are sized for AR-15 magazines, so if you wanted to you could carry 4 concealed magazines in the cargo pockets. However, I like this size of organizer because it is just the right size for a pistol holster. I can just barely fit a Glock 17 into the pocket with 2 spare pistol magazine, all in the same cargo pocket. Mind you the pocket will get quite heavy at that point, so I would only recommend carrying a smaller pistol there such as a Glock 26 or smaller. The utility knife pocket on the right side is well placed, however it is a little short. I have about a 3.5 inch spyderco and it does poke out the top of the pocket a little too much for comfort, so if you are carrying a knife about 3 inches in blade length, then it should fit perfect. Front pockets are standard with a slanted bottom for a clipped knife, nothing wrong with them and nothing faulty with them, just regular tactical pockets. Back pockets again are just standard back pockets with a flap secured by hook and loop (non-brand named velcro). Again, nothing wrong with these pockets just regular pockets. There are also 2 back "sap" pockets are the rear of each thigh. They are sized for a baton or a large flashlight. I also find that they are the perfect size to swallow up an 30 round AR-15 magazine. Perfect width, and long enough to completely cover the magazine, but shallow enough to be able to grab the magazine out without having to fish around the pocket for the magazine. It will fit a Glock 33 round 9mm magazine but just barely, you can sort of see the top of the magazine if you are looking straight down into the pocket. The front smart phone pockets work well, I keep a rite-in-the-rain pad in one, and a pocket bible in the other, I am not a smart phone guy but I find the pockets are still quite useful. One other problem I did have with the pants is the from D-rings on the front belt loops. They are made of fabric and not plastic or metal. The front left one did break on me after 2 weeks. However the right side one works, plus I never use it anyhow so I do not consider it a deal breaker for me. I find that the 2% spandex does offer a 2-way stretch, (side to side), but not a 4-way stretch (up and down). The teflon coating does work. The material of the pants does seem a little thinner than some other brands, so not meant for rain pants by any means, I did have them getting wet while in some moderate rain the other day. I find the the knee pads are a little high on the pants, again probably because of my oddly big legs, but I would like to see them lowered about 2 inches. The cargo pockets I find are at a mid hight, not super low or super high. I also would like to see the cargo pockets raised about 2 inches. I find that cargo pockets work better when they are higher up, the weight is more controlled. On some pants the cargo pockets are down by the knees which makes then swing like a pendulum when they are fully loaded. On a personal note, I really like the coyote color they offer, I think it looks good. However, it is a few shade off from the LA Police Gear boots which are also labeled as coyote, so now I have pants and boots that are both made by the same company and offered in the same color, yet a few shades off so they clash. Overall, these are the best tactical pants you can find for $30. I have tried many and most are not as good as these pants (at least how I prefer my pants to be). I would put these pants in the top 3 tactical pants that I use, even when compared to my 5.11 pants (but I do not have the strike model). I do think that they are more towards the lower profile look than the outlandish tactical look. I like this because it looks almost like normal cargo pocket pants, it does not look overly tactical so I use them for everyday wear. PS, make sure to use a discount code when getting anything from LA Police Gear, they are constantly tossing out discount codes and so getting 5-10% off is easy. NRA member? 5% with code, or just leave the item in your cart for a week or two, they will often send you a discount code for 5%, 7% or maybe 10% off just to buy the items. I am a Gold status customer (1000$ spent) so I will get 12% off on my next purchase. This is one reason why I keep coming back to LA Police Gear. Their prices are competitive with other websites, including amazon, yet they let you use a discount code on top of that. Then just wait for a holiday and they sometimes offer free shipping. They let you combine all of the savings at once and save a ton. Make sure to checkout the LA Police Gear closeout locker, lots of great stuff. Make sure to look at the Blackhawk lightweight tactical pants, 75% off (plus discount code, plus free shipping if you order during a special). These pants are another one of those top 3 pants that I use, however most sizes are sold out, so the LA Police Gear Elite Pants are in my opinion the best alternative for in-stock items.

Get 1 size bigger. I use a 34x30 in the 5.11 strike pant and ordered the same size in the LAPG elite operator pant. They were too small. I ended up ordering the 36x30 and have not received them yet. I will let you know they work out.

I have never wore the strike pants. I can say these fit pretty true at the waist. They seem to be a little short in the legs though. I usually wear a 31 length. I ordered the 30 X 32. I'm glad I did. They fit like a glove. My normal 5.11 pants are long at 32's. I really like these pants so far. A word of warning though, they are slim cut.

I have never worn the 5.11 strykers, but I can Teel you that the elites fit wonderfully. ...not to baggy and not restricting at 30x30''s were true to size and require no alterations.

I wear 31x30 Stryke pants on duty. From the recommendations above, I ordered a pair in each color in the 32x30 Elites. The fit in the waist was perfect on both pairs. Both pairs were different lengths by about an inch or so. One pair is true to length, while the other is going to have to be hemmed. So i would order up one size in the waist and order your normal length. Worst case scenario, you'll have to get them hemmed, but better too long than too short. My Stryke pants are also not consistent in the length, must be difficult to read a tape in Bangladesh or wherever they make tactical pants now.

I'm looking for a pair of pants to do a Goruck Tough challenge in. Do these or any other of your pants dry quickly if gotten wet? Looking for a nylon/spandex ripstop blend. Would these fit the bill?
    1 Answers
These are a Polyester/Cotton blend so not as light as the Nylon/Spandex blend that you are looking for. These do dry fairly quick but may not make the cut for what you exactly need.

Is coyote brown similar to dark tan or silver tan? Also, what is the best way to determine the correct size? I currently wear a size 34 in Blaur pants which is bit big in the waist. A 32 in that brand of pants would be sufficient. Thank you
    1 Answers
I'm not sure how Blauer sizes their pants in comparison to ours. Typically ours can extend up to one size larger than the size you order, so if you were to order a 32", than you would have no problem if you fluctuated between the sizes. However, i know some tactical companies use quite a lot of elastic, and i'm not sure if Blauer is one of those. My suggestion would be to measure your waist with a cloth tape measure if possible to be sure, because ours our definitely to size. As far as the colors go, Silver Tan is more of a Khaki color, whereas Coyote Brown is a darker tan, but not quite completely brown. The 3rd picture over is the Coyote color, so you can see the difference between the shades of tan.

    1 Answers
They don't currently have plans for additional colors from what I can tell. Normally if that were the case than I would see them on order. These are still pretty new, and they've released a lot of different style of pants recently so i expect that they are waiting to see what kind of feedback they receive for these before moving forward with other colors. Please email your request though to <= That's where we take product suggestions for the time being and if they receive enough demand for more colors, than they'll move forward with having them made. Even if they decided tomorrow that they wanted more colors, it would still take 6-8 months to receive from the factory. So it wouldn't be any time soon. Thank you for your kind words though, it's always great to have good feedback on our items. 08/19/2015

I work in the Pacific Northwest and we get over 100 inches of rain per year, we are constantly looking for more comfortable clothing for wet weather. How long does the teflon coating last? Also I need them in Black, when do you anticipate getting other colors?
    1 Answers
There's no real way to test how long the Teflon coating will last on the pants as it depends on the conditions that they are exposed to and whether the customer follows the care instructions correctly. As for the other colors, we are currently only producing them in Khaki and Coyote Brown.
