Great Fit and excellent utility!!
Very comfortable, lots of loop velcro for patches, brim snaps heavy duty and hold under heavy wind. Quick release Chin strap is Bitchin' !!!!
ConsNo headband tightening strap or string like other boonies I have.

Sun hat, not rain hat
Just finished two weeks of rain and wind. It was *supposed* to be hot and sunny, so this was one of the hats I packed. Then it rained for two weeks, with an hour of sun here and there. It worked fine as a sun hat, but in hard rain it soaked through quickly. Probably a spray coat of Thompson's Water Seal would have made it into a reasonable rain hat. The hidden pocket inside held a Coleman mosquito head net which would fit nicely over all. But instead, it kept my skull from crushing when the jeep bounced on a pothole. Nice. I kept changing the morale patches on my hat to keep my team amused. Overall, very happy, but if you need to pack a rain hat - think twice.

These sizes do not fit sizes of any other hat i have seen, and couldnt find a size chart for comparison. I have a 23 and one quarter inch head, which size do i need?
Your Hat size is 7 1/8" and the closest size that this comes to for you would be the 7.25" size.

I have boonie hat that shows a size of 7 5/8. Which size should I order? The 7.5 or 7.75?
we would recommend going with the 7.75 size as this would be the best fit option.

am I correct in assuming those are buttons on the side so you can snap them in for a folded look?
yes the rim of the hat can be folded up and snapped into place.
