    Desalts Gunhide Apache Ankle Rig
The Desantis Apache Ankle Rig works great for my Glock 42. From the 1st day of using this holster, I can say there was no break-in period. I feel less conscious with my ankle rig than I did my IWB holsters. I realize there are pros & cons for any holster. The Sheep-skin lining is sewn in very well and the product appears very well designed.
ProsVery well made.....USA! No break-in period!

    A great fit and comfortable
This holster can hold my compact 1911 .45, my S&W Shield 9mm, or my Bersa Thunder without a problem and they all stay secure while moving or jogging. Even without a calf strap it remains in place if I set it up low enough to not sag while running. The material is soft and the edges don't itch so it isn't uncomfortable to wear. It is a great a design and get the job done.

    Ankle Rig for P238
This is a great ankle rig. Its very comfortable and you almost forget you have it on, once you get used to it. I had some concerns about the thumb strap after reading the reviews here, however, after some adjustment (a couple of minutes at most), I was able to get the thumb strap to where it is secure, yet easy to release. A tool is included with the holster to make any needed adjustments.
    ProsSecure and comfortable.
ConsThumb strap needs to be adjusted.

    Comfortable and Secure Holster
I bought this holster on sale and it's much more comfortable than my previous holster, which I paid more money for. My Glock draws fast and easy...but it's slow to re-holster because the thumb snap is set in the middle rather than being more adjustable to fit each weapon type more appropriately.

Exactly what I hoped for and very comfortable
Just wanted to let you know that the holster is a perfect fit. Thank you for sending it to me so speedily. Being a volunteer EMT in Wyoming, we can be called to many different types of situations and sometimes some pretty wild and rugged terrain. I had a few concerns on wearing an akle rig as my leg sometimes aches, swells a bit and has quite a few varicose veins. However, I have comfortably worn this holster for up to 14 hours at a time without any issues or problems. In fact, my leg actually felt better! Being a woman, not many holsters are comfortably conducive to the type of work I do, but this ankle rig is perfect. God bless. DP Debi

All in all the holster is well made considering material and craftmanship, however i was disappointed in the thumb snap. It is nearly impossible to unsnap with one hand fast. As of right now i feel it to be a saftey issue and decided not to wear it until i work on the snap some.

DeSantis Apache Ankle Rig for Glock 27
This is the 2nd ankle holster that I've ordered from DeSantis. The last one lasted about 10 years before the elastic became too loose. It is of great quality and a great holster to carry off duty or as a back up.
    ProsFirm and durable.

    Best ankle rig
I've been using this rig for over twenty years I think. It's the best I have found. The very wide elastic strap is the difference. I use this daily on patrol carrying a Glock 27. Every 3-5 years I have to order a new one when the elastic stretches.
ProsVery wide elastic band and padding.

    Replaced a "Renegade" ankle rig
I've owned two "Renegade" ankle holsters over the past 20+ years. They have been worn no less than 5 days a week and often more than that. Renegade was a small company in the Phoenix, AZ area as I recall. Both holsters performed admirably and served me well. However, over time the elastic simply wore out. Last time I checked, the company could not be found and is likely no longer in business. I found this DeSantis Gunhide rig and decided to give it a try. I've had it for several months now and I am very pleased with it. The thumb snap is sturdy, my Glock 26 is tucked in and secure, and I hardly even know it's there. I've also noticed this holster does not generate the "dent" in my leg I used to experience at the end of a long day. I don't know how long this holster will last, but it has become an integral part of my daily kit and will remain so as long I continue to carry a back-up on my ankle. Quality, performance, and a fair price add up to a great deal. I highly recommend this holster.

    Great buy
The ankle holster came promptly, is extremely comfortable and fits well under a pair of relaxed fit straight leg jeans. The sheepskin lining fits snugly above the ankle and after about 20 minutes I forgot I was wearing it. I ordered it for my Taurus millinium 9mm but it also holds my Doubletap 9mm well. I like it. Thanks for the prompt processing.
ProsComfortable, well made BD easy to wear.

A little unsure how well this ankle holster will work with full size Glock 21 (Gen. 1 non drop free mags, 14 shot) I have intentions of wearing on left side of ankle/calf, right leg + would like to invert pistol with magazine removed to conserve weight and safety. Loaded magazine on right side ankle of left leg. Will the holster have to be modified to work how I want it? Factory modification? Local shoe repair modification? Thanks, Ed

Hi Ed. I've carried an ankle rig for 15+ years, and currently use this rig for an M&P Shield 9mm (compact). Even with a small 9mm single stack, pant selection is important - getting the leg opening over the pistol and ensuring quick access. If you wear super baggy pants in the leg or suit pants, you could conceivable pull off ankle carry of a full size. If it's available for your model no modification should be needed - you'll just flip it upside down as you see fit.

I got the Apache ankle rig for a Taurus Millennium Pro 9 MM that has a double mag. I found that it needed the support strap that I ordered later and holds it in place above the ankle. I wear the rig on my outside left leg. I have also placed it on my right leg inside but my preference is on my left leg outside. Not sure what you mean by inverting the pistol If you mean having the barrel pointing up it probably requires extensive modification since the support strap loops on the top of the ankle rig. The Rig should hold your Glock well and the strap over the handle is very secure. I don't think the ankle rig will be comfortable without the support strap on a full size Glock. Hope that helps.

PS - these rigs have an extended, hard thumb break. Carrying upside down may result in it digging into your ankle bone(s)

I've worn this ankle rig or a very similar one for the past 20+ years. When my previous Renegade ankle holster began to show major wear, I purchased this one and have been very pleased with the quality, fit, and comfort. I carry a Glock 26 loaded with a Glock 19 magazine and I hardly know it's there. I carried a Glock 21 for the same period of time until I recently upgraded to the G-41. I would not recommend ankle carry for a Glock 21 as it is heavy and quite bulky compared to a compact or sub-compact pistol. Carrying an unloaded handgun for self-defense is also not something I would recommend, no matter how close at hand you have a loaded magazine. Your question indicated you want to carry "inverted." If you mean muzzle up rather than down, my only comment would be "Why?" If you mean reversed with the butt forward for a right hand grab from the inside of your right ankle, I suppose that would work. However, the holster does have a slight forward cant. As far as value goes, I a very satisfied with this holster. I hope this helps.

sorry i cant answer your specific question, I can attest to the quality and comfort of this holster, i wear it daily with a glock 42 on the inside of my right ankle over a lace up duty boot. and dont even realize i have it on. Great made holster and comfortable. Just a personal opinion i cant imagine a glock 21 could be carried comfortably with any ankle holster, but to each his own.

I have a Doubletap defense 2 shot and also a Taurus millennium 9mm PT111. Which ankle holster would best best for each gun. I am looking to wear on my left ankle. Thanks.
    1 Answers
We have the Taurus PT111 listed as a fit for your weapon, but it is for the Gen 2, so i'm not completely sure if the difference between the two would cause an issue, but the here's the model number for that #062BBE1Z0 <= That should be the left handed one. Desantis doesn't have a specific fit for the double tap, so you would have to find a weapon that's close to the same size if you wanted to use this holster for it.
