Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack - CLOSEOUT
SKU #: CO-MaxP-0403
The Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack (#0403) is more than a durable, ergonomic shoulder sling pack; it is the state-of-the-art portable gear organizer that provides secured containment for and rapid accessibility of daily equipment. The versatile main compartment has a huge 156 cu. in. of space with a water-resistant storm collar that can be deployed by pulling a cord-locked drawstring. An array of integral fixed-position external pouches retains and indexes individual pieces of gear while two sets of nylon webbing anchors accommodate MAXPEDITION's modular expansion accessories such as the CP-L Radio Holster. It also has a 2" wide hook and loop patch on the front lid for attachment of ID patches. Each Fatboy comes with a tactile non-slip shoulder pad providing great comfort during extended use.
The Fatboy's rear slip compartment is now equipped with large loop hook and loop patches to accommodate our Hook & Loop Modular Accessories (e.g. #3501 Universal Modular Holster, sold separately). This allows the user to position their concealed carry firearm for a quick strong side draw or weak side cross draw.

Great overall bag
Great overall bag for EDC. Also have the Jumbo versipack, which was a little too big for my use. The Fatboy holds my essential gear without being overly bulky. Great job Maxpedition!

Ordering and shiping went fine. Arrived a day early. The bag is very well made, a bit bigger than planned, guess I need to buy more gear.
ProsWell made, good price.
ConsBit on the big side

Quality met price.
The bag seems to be high quality and the sale price was almost too good to pass up. It's a little smaller than I expected so it'll take a different role than intended but that's my fault.
ProsQuality construction and material.
ConsSize, won't replace my patrol bail out bag.

Great pack, limited abilities
First, this Versipack is constructed with awesome material, and it's seemingly bulletproof. It's sturdy and super comfortable to wear. However, I bought this item and went into it thinking it was going to be able to do more for me. The CCW compartment is TINY. I hope you have a sub compact handgun, because nothing else is fitting. I have a compact Glock 19, and it didn't fit. I was surprised... Then I quickly realized that is tiny all around. I put mini binoculars and a range finder in it, and it's too full to fit anything else. Kinda disappointing. But hey, if you know it's small before you buy it, and only want it to carry your wallet, small flashlight, and a handgun magazine. It's perfect for you!

Nice pack, just not right for me
I figured with the closeout price bringing it in line with other lines, why not? After getting it my hands, it is stiff, heavy duty, and well made. Love the padded shoulder strap it came with, as well as all the MOLLE straps to tuck odds and ends into. Two things I didn't like, 1) my iPhone 5 would not fit in the phone pocket. Maybe beating it on the rocks for a couple weeks would loosen it up enough, but don't think so. 2) The back 'carry' compartment is not lined (there's only enough loop material to stick a holster), and the rough material feels like sandpaper so I'm concerned about wear. My Condor EDC bag has a nylon lining on one side and the material isn't as rough, so I was rather surprised about that lack in the Fatboy. I could see from the images there was no water bottle holder, but I also found I really missed having a place for one. It's such a good price I hung it on a hook in my office for a week to stare at and ponder uses for it, to no avail; back it goes. Although it didn't work for me, it's an outstanding value right now.
ProsOutstanding quality Well-padded shoulder strap Lots of MOLLE for attaching things here and there. Closeout pricing
ConsPhone pouch is too small Carry pocket is not lined

Overall a very good every day carry bag. Enough room for a firearm, flashlight, two mags, tourniquet. Spot for wallet, identification. Comfortable and overall good fit for either left or right carry.
ProsEnough room for bug out bag or everyday carry. Comfortable, can use either right or left carry. Seems very durable, good closure snaps and zippers. Can fit a compact or subcompact firearm with two mags.
ConsNeed to buy Maxpedition Universal Pistol Wrap and Dual Mag Wrap to be able to fit any firearm and mags which cost another $29.0

Have always loved Maxpedition products and the Fatboy is a great addition. You can just see and feel the quality and attention to detail, definitely not an imitation like so many other products. Catching the closeout pricing before Christmas was the icing on the cake.

I am an aviation technician and this is a near perfect tool bag for a line terminal mechanic. Big enough to hold everything you need but not too heavy and cumbersome. The numerous pockets and slots allow for easy organization of your tools and accessories that snap in and out very easily. This is the BEST tool pouch I have ever owned.
ProsLots of pockets, light, plenty of color choices.
ConsSlots could be longer to more securely accommodate longer tools like screwdrivers and wrenches.

The Fatboy Versipack does have a chinch draw cord closure for the main compartment under the main flap. I have attached a photo showing the chinch closure

Yes, the flap covers the main compartment, which is why I bought it. It is light, comfortable, roomy for all my important gear and an excellent addition to my Search and Rescue kit.

You have to "unbuckle" the clip (look at photos) to access the main compartment. So the main compartment is covered. Is this a "storm flap"..I'll let you decide on the terminology, but it definitely adds a layer of protection.
