This coat compares as an equal to the latest top of the line gear at my local outdoor store, but at 1/5 the price. I can find no difference in materials and construction. Nicely sized to be able to wear layers under it comfortably, but not swallow you up or become a sail if you don't. The hood adjusts 3 ways, making it actually fit regardless of your head shape or size, and the fleece lining at the collar makes it feel like I'm wearing my woobie. A great addition to my wardrobe.
    Pros:
    A solid piece of equipment
    Cons:
The internal layers made for it are no longer available at LAPG.

Wore it out on one of the coldest days we had, over just a polartec 100 fleece, it really kept the wind out. It is a bit big, but it's supposed to be, as it's the third in a three layer system. I'm vary happy with it, it's lite enough if you just need rain gear, or layer it up for cold weather.

Lightweight and compact. Good as a wind breaker or light rain coat. Packs in luggage easy for travel. For cold weather I recommend purchase of the liner.
    Pros:
Good gear. Lots of pockets and a pop up hood. Lined collar prevents neck scratches.
    Cons:
    None so far.

I bought this jacket to replace my old underarmour rain jacket because this one has a hood and wow its better then what I expected well worth the closeout sale price i wish i would have seen this sale earlier i wouldve ordered more in different colors and sizes. Normally i wear 2xl but i read the older reviews so i ordered it one size "smaller" (xl) and it fits me perfect i cant wait to try it out in the rain and see how it performs compared to my UA goretex jacket . thanks lapg your service was really good and fast shipment i will definetly be ordering more and more stuff soon.
    Pros:
Price Really good materials and well made Nice fit Detachable hood Side zipper vents Extra pocket on arm Inside material feels good
    Cons:
Runs a little big bit thats not an issue since this is an outer layer/shell jacket i just ordered one size smaller.

Decent jacket - worth the sale price
    February 19, 2017
This jacket is well worth the sale price. The original price is way out of line. Definitely NOT a $300 jacket. But at the $40 range I give it a good review. If I paid $300 I would have been angry. It's made in China. I got this as a back up rain jacket. For all appearances it seems it will do a good job though Inhavent been able to put it thru any tough tests yet. I am normally between a L and XL depending on company and I got the XL here to be able to have layers on underneath. Still seems a bit big and if I did it again I would have gone L.
    Pros:
Good sale price. Decent rain jacket.
    Cons:
    Made in China

Great jacket with one minor issue
    February 17, 2017
I am very happy with this jacket. The only knock against it is with the Velcro closures on the zipper storm flap. The hook side is on the right side of the jacket as you wear it rather thuan being on the underside of the storm flap on the left. The result is the loop Velcro on the right sleeve cuff is constantly catching the exposed hook strips for that storm flap. So for me, I'm going to remove those lower 2 or 3 storm flap hook side strips.
    Pros:
Very well sealed zippers. Well sealed jacket and seams.
    Cons:
Would prefer the storm flap to have a different closure or its hook and loop strips positions to be swapped.

Does anyone have any actual experiences with the "Breathability" of this jacket? On the tag it just says 100% Nylon for all 3 of the shell layers but also says it is a "Waterproof, windproof, breathable three-layer laminate".

I had this jacket for about 3 month. I written it here in California in since really strong down pours an it has kept me completely dry amazing how it keeps beading the water an dies not need to be constantly retreated an it had kept the wind out. I have a few gore-tex Jackets that our a little bit more breathable an abit lighter but not by much my military gore text Jackets our heavier because of how thick they make them so they can take abnormal abuse. This is a quality made jacket with a very useful design features At this price it's a steal at its regular price it still would still be a good buy.

I ordered and received mine after the heavy rains in So Cal and haven't gotten to see how well it does. I would say stay away if looking for an everyday jacket in a non wet environment, and I say that only because of the construction materials used. That being said I really hope next year is wet so I can enjoy it. For the price you can't go wrong, even if you have to wait 8 months to enjoy it. My wife was even thinking of stealing it from me

The Blackhawk fleece liner I purchased a while back (from another site) was designed to perfectly work with this. It zips into the jacket and has loops on the sleeves and back that attach the soft shell jacket perfectly. I also have a Blackhawk vest that has the rear loop to attach to this jacket for warmer days that don't require the fleece. I would look for any of their "Warrior Wear" line that has the loops on the sleeves and high centered on the back to use as a liner for this jacket.

Milspec Monkey did a review on the 3 piece jacket, use the link below. Since LPAG has a close-out on the outer Shell-Jac, I assume the 2 inner layers are discontinued, I could not find them on the Blackhawk website. Buy a zip-up fleese jacket to put under the shell-jac and you have the system. for the price LAPG was selling the shell-jac for, I was satisfied having a rain coat or windbreaker and using existing layers for colder weather. https://www.milspecmonkey.com/index.php/weargear/clothing/173-blackhawk-warrior-wear-3-layer-jacket-system TCM

I know you are selling just the shell only. I asked if the $300MSRP was for the shell only, or all three layers. If the $300MSRP is for the entire jacket system, then you are using deceptive advertising by quoting a price reduction from $300MSRP.

What is the name of the waterproofing material/fabric used in this jacket??
    3 Answers
The waterproofing material/fabric is a heavy nylon weave that would seem to stand up to any conditions I can imagine. The waterproofing is enhanced by a rubberized coating over the zipper areas and secure flaps up the front zipper area and around the neck. I love the OD green color that I chose and feel confident about wearing it in a casual setting or in the woods or in a dressier environment. It will keep me warm and dry under any conditions.

Do not hesitate to purchase this jacket; I used it in the remnants of Hurricane Matthew, several days of rain, and did not disappoint...sure wish the old standard issue woodland Gortex had been this AWESOME, I may have worn it while out in the elements more often (I grab sniffle gear every chance I get now...don't judge me!).

No idea but I'm six foot. And 170 pounds usually take 35- 36 sleeve length I bought XL. And I swim in it sleeves 2 inches to long I should have bought the large but I'm still happy with purchase once I put liner in and when wearing a sweater it will be perfect

I'll answer it like this... I'm a 5'11" athletic (38.5" chest with 30.5" waist). I bought two of these in Medium because I'm usually medium for falls/winter jackets made by 5.11 or Blackhawk. You need some air inside to keep you warm. Smalls are usually quite form fitting to me and may look good but are less comfortable and feel colder. So I bought two mediums. I actually got two other Medium jackets from Blackhawk in soft shell and they fit well. When I received them I realized that they were too large. THEY RUN LARGER THAN AVERAGE JACKET MEDIUM AND EVEN LARGER THAN BLACKHAWK SOFT SHELL JACKET MEDIUM! So I returned them for SMALL and now they fit absolutely perfectly but still have plenty of air to keep me comfy and warm. so in summary, your height doesnt matter that much, the sleeves are long and the jacket is rather long too. its all about your shoulders and chest and waist. In my opinion if your waist is 30-32" and chest 36"-39" maybe even 40", you can go with small. If you are bigger get a medium but I advise you to get 1 size smaller than your regular jackets. It worked for me.

Great fit. I am 6'1" and 190#. Fit is slightly loose and sleeves are slightly long. However, this is a perfect fit when worn over the other jacket (#2 layer). If worn alone in the summer in a rain you don't want the jacket tight. You can tighten the fit with internal draw cords.

I am 200lbs ,athletic build at 5'9". I have only had the jacket on with a short sleeve shirt and it fits a little loose. This jacket will fit good once I get the level 2 jacket to zip inside and am wearing winter layers. the fit could've been a bit smaller, but I do not believe I would have been satisfied with a Medium.

I typically buy size large in most things however with this jacket (based on a couple reviews) I bought a MED. It turned out to be fine. the jacket does appear to run a bit large so sizing down is ok and still leaves room for extra layers without causing the jacket to be too restrictive.

I'm not sure about exact measurements but I purchased the XL and it fits great. I'm 6-2 about 230 and there is room enough for me to wear a pretty heavy sweatshirt under the shell. As for completely waterproof... I haven't stood under a garden hose but I've stayed pretty dry in some decent rain events. Hope that helps.

No pockets inside. 2 larger pockets on outside (for hands, etc), one smaller pocket on each shoulder (for phone, notes, etc), and one vent zipper under each armpit (long and can double as an inside access point so you don't have to unzip the front during inclement weather). Also, a zippered collar compartment to store the hood. All zippers are water proof

4 pockets and all are zippered with waterproof seams. Two slant pockets at your torso (one on the left and one on the right) and two on the upper arms (one on the left and one on the right). There are no inside pockets as this jacket was designed to be the outer waterproof layer and worn in conjuction with the other base layer jackets that Blackhawk makes/made.

There are 2 pockets on the front and one on the left and right arm (bicep). The jacket feels very sturdy and unlike other reviews, I would argue that it would work well to protect from the wind. However, I was very skeptical that a $300 jacket was now $54. The description states that it is a 3 piece jacket system. I assumed only the shell would come and not the liner for that price. I was correct, it was only the shell, the liner did not come with it.
