I have tested this bag since 2008. It has traveled to Afghanistan, Peru and across the US, via tactical and commercial travel. CONCLUSIONS: EXCELLENT! Although it was pricey, this bag passed ! It beat down 511, Condor and BlackHawk. They just did not fit comfortably with a load.
Pros:The heavy construction, solid stitching has endured every test. A ruck run thru the hills, loaded with a full 100 oz bladder, 45 lbs of rocks did not break it. The internal compression straps are there for a reason, and they proved it by securing heavy and awkard internal loads. The shoulder straps are nicely padded to endure heavy loads. the waste belt has cinch straps to "fit" the bag's bottom to your lower back. This makes it very comfortable. the back panels allow air flow even in the SOCAL and AL heat. The zippers are super heavy duty. BONUS: there are FOUR zipper heads on the main compartment. I use the middle two for top loading, and leave one at the bottom on each side to access stuff in the bottom. The "admin" pouch for pens, notepads, phone is Camel Bak standard- practical and sufficient. There is a seperate pocket for the bladder with a loop to hang the bladder. The pocket has an independant zipper and tube access on each side (left and right). The waist belt is removable. If this bag is NOT packed full, it will fit as a carry on.
Cons:There needs to be molle loops on the sides, above the side pouches (to add a flashlight or mag pouch). I added two small (credit card size) mesh pockets on the sides, inside the main compartment. The external compression straps are insufficient. They allow too much movement inside and do not secure anything in the outer back & admin pouch. I moved the upper strap so it will compress the outer back pouch. I added a third strap between the upper and lower straps. Three straps secures and stabilizes the loads to my liking. I would like to see this pack with fit straps that run from the top across the shoulders onto the shoulder straps. I would also like to add some molle loops for lashing a bed roll to the bottom. I would like to see molle loops on the waist belt.

Is this the discontinued model of the BFM the newer one on the Camelbak http://shop.camelbak.com/Military-Tactical/bfm/d/1376_c_401_cl_6318#
I pulled the black one from our warehouse to take a look, and judging by the molle on the bag, it looks as though we have the old version of this particular bag.
