If you don’t have it...maybe you should!
It’s everything you would come to expect in a knife. If you don’t have it, maybe you should think about committing to one. Enough said, just do it.

Great knife & Customer Service!
Thanks for giving me the best price! BK7 is an iconic knife. Sturdy and very sharp out of the box, just right when a larger chopper is just too big for finer tasks around camp. Buy it now, you will be glad you did! LA Police Gear has the best prices out there!
ProsRobust heavy and sharp
ConsGrips are too slick, replaced them with Micarta from Becker Ka-Bar. Sheath could use improvement.

Wow! What a knife!
If you are on the fence about getting this knife don't hesitate! Buy it now! You will not regret it. Once you hold it in your hand and can admire and appreciate the fit and finish and the way it locks into your hand you will know what I'm talking about. This is a do everything knife with tactical application as well It will last a lifetime with proper care. It came razor sharp out of the box and not a flaw to be found. Regarding the sheath it is heavy duty and made with quality components. I appreciate the fact that the company focused on making the highest quality knife they could. Sure they could have used higher end grips and a custom sheath but then again the cost would be twice as much. I found the grips and sheath to be functional and don't plan on replacing them. I've had a K-bar since I went into the service in 1979. It shall now be retired because I've found its replacement! I must also mention this was the first time I've ordered from LA Police gear and was extremely impressed with their low prices and fast shipping. First rate company and I will certainly be a life long customer with them now and in the future!
ProsDesign, quality, attention to detail. Made to last a lifetime. Feels like a custom made knife when you hold it in your hand.

Knife isn't worth the dangerous sheath
Most fives at this price are sturdy and sharp, as is this one. However the bottom line is... they went with a really cheap and dangerous sheath. "Unsafe at any speed"
ProsDon't buy this knife
ConsDon't buy this knife

ProsSilid construction and heft
ConsGrips a little slick will put som checkering in it

Prosrazor sharp made for business...not silliness feathering...no problem...chopping and batoning...even better...

The best deal on the best knife for the money.
This knife is a badass. Thick, heavy, holds a good edge, great finish..... It's everything you could possibly want in a service/survival/SHTF knife. Now for the bad. The sheath absolutely sucks. The handles are just some cheap feeling plastic, but did seem fairly durable. My solution was a custom kydex sheath and some custom G10 grip handles, both available on eBay. So essentially, what I paid $75 for was just the steel part of the knife itself. And now with the additional upgrades I mentioned, I own a knife that I am proud to carry and show off, and I have full confidence that this piece of hardware would survive a trip to hell and back and never let me down.
ProsTough as nails. Top quality steel. Excellent durable finish. Arrived razor sharp. Lifetime warranty. Excellent aftermarket upgrade parts and support.
ConsCheap sheath and grip handles.

Awsome knife!!!. Feels great in the hands, has a nice balance to it. Planning on modding it out first. Did a lot of research, and LAPG had the best price and lowest shipping that I could find.

Excellent quality tool, hefty but not heavy. Came part slicing sharp and only required Pioneer edge dressing to make it razor sharp. Sheath was less than impressive, not garbage, but not great either. But planned on getting a custom kydex anyway. 5-star knife, 3-star sheath. Also bought a bk10 crewman, also great blade but even cruddier sheath especially the plastic insert.
ProsGreat ergonomics, great edge retention, decent edge out of box, easily dressed to a razor. Took both out camping and ran them through their paces both did admirably the coating is superb if that's your thing can barely tell they,'ve been used.
ConsSheaths are poor, sloppy plastic inserts kydex would've been more befitting such a worthy blade especially one that can be worn scout fashion.

That's not a knife....THIS is a knife!
The Becker BK7 is an impeccable knife. It is expertly crafted and well made. It is full tang with a great handle, sturdy grip and rugged feel. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for the ultimate camping/hiking/BOB knife. It will serve any all all needs of a solid knife.

Best general knife period
Love this knife. Big enough to to do hard jobs like chopping and batoning but small enough to do finer jobs like feather stick and works well to start poilet hole for bow drills

On the Becker BK7, I see the steel is 0170-6c. I see in the description on Amazon, and theirs says it's 1095 cro-van. On your BK2 Companion, it says 1095. What is the difference?
I had to research this, and apparently they are the same thing - "If you look at the Chemical composition of 170-06, it is basically AISI 1095 with the addition of small amounts of Chrome, Vanadium, and smaller amounts of Nickel and Moly so the term 1095 Cro-Van is not off base. For many years we called Cro-Van just 1095 in our advertising literature, but went back to calling it 1095 Cro-Van as it is a better steel than just straight 1095, and we felt there were advantages to making the distinction. We did that in 2005. We make no attempt to hide the fact that it is 170-06. Nor do we make extravagant claims for the steel. 1095 Cro-Van is just the name we have always used." Hope that helps!

The original Ethan Becker BK aka BK&T series was made by Camillus in NY USA using a special steel known as CARBON V which was a partnership project between Cold Steel and Camillus. Camillus made knives from 1876 until 2007. If a blade was CARBON V it was stamped into the blade. CARBON V is really 0170-6 steel and nearly identical to 1095 Cro-Van. The new Camillus company has nothing to do with the original company and I wouldn't own one if my life depended on it. Ethan Becker partnered with Ka-Bar when Camillus bellied up. Ka-Bar has been making knives in the USA since 1923. For budget knives many major brand cutlery companies have some low end lines made in China but all the Beckers are USA made using 1095 CV and are top quality. I would trust my life to a Becker BK7, BK2 and BK9 either early Camillus or Ka-Bar made. You will not find a better price than LA Police Gear. Great folks and honest as the day is long.
