Lightweight, some button issues, cheaper than Streamlight DS
First impressions: Decent light. Nice and lightweight for the size. Regardless of what the description says, the top switch at the head is NOT momentary. Only the tailcap button is momentary, and it takes a lot of practise to be consistent with getting the momentary flash just right if you are using this for clearing rooms or quick peeks of a burst of light. It is too squishy. You have to play around with your thumb to get the feel just right without going to far and switching it to constant on. The length will take getting used to if you are resting your gun on top of the hand holding the light, as you try to operate the tail switch. My other light was much shorter and felt more comfortable when shooting/searching. At 9 1/2 inches, It is long enough to be comfortable under the arm for writing. To get the beam to switch from high to low, you have to hold the button down and let it cycle. A double tap turns on the strobe (like the Streamlight I hear). This is a problem as my other light you had to depress the switch to get it to cycle, so I find myself accidentally turning on the strobe when I want to cycle to a lower level of light. It is also easy to confuse the flood switch and the main switch as they are so close to each other. The flood beam could be useful for say changing a tire when you want both hands free if you don't mind standing the light upright, or for lighting a room like a lantern. The high beam is good, nice side flood with a good center beam. The low beam looks like it will work for writing in the field without flooding the documents, but I havent used this "real world" yet. If you want to have the light fully covered on your belt by a flashlight holder/holster, good luck. The largest flap covered holder I could find was the Bianchi Accumold 7911 Size 4. They claim a 9 1/2" flashlight will fit, but this light does not. The flap is about an inch too short and won't snap down. I had to order a custom real leather one from Tex Shoemaker for $60. With 2x the light output and an hour extra of runtime, this is about the same price as the Streamlight Polystinger DS if you get it with both AC/DC chargers. I like the switches on the Streamlight better, so there are your trade offs.
ProsLightweight, Low cost, features, well made, looks good, 2x brighter and extra hour longer battery life than the Streamlight poly DS for same price.
ConsLearning curve on switches, flood switch too close to main head switch, tailcap switch is funky/too squishy for momentary flash/use
