Aimpoint has removed restrictions on the sale of the Patrol Rifle Optic and this product is now available to all customers (Domestic Shipments Only)!

Please Note: The battery and adjustment cap retainer straps are no longer included. Aimpoint has updated the caps so they no longer require the strap.

Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO) is designed with input from a distinguished group of current and former professionals, the Patrol Rifle Optic incorporates many never before seen features to maximize this sight's performance within the challenging conditions faced by modern law enforcement. A hard-anodized 30mm tube was utilized, enclosing a high efficiency circuit that allows the sight to be turned on and left on for up to three years using a single battery.

The front lens utilizes a unique band-pass coating, which allows the sight to be used with all generations of night vision devices. The modular QRP2 mount includes a removable spacer that indexes the sight at the optimal height for co-witness with the standard iron sights on AR15/M16/M4 Carbine style weapons. This spacer can be removed to enable the use of the sight on police shotguns or sub-machineguns. The QRP2 mount also incorporates a torque-limiting twist knob that provides the optimal level of pressure on the rail while completely eliminating the possibility of over-tightening. Both the front and rear lenses are recessed within the sight body to provide protection against impact damage, scratches, and fingerprints.

Flip covers are included to further protect the lenses, and a transparent rear lens cover is utilized allowing the user to engage a target with the lens covers closed in an emergency situation. A two Minute of Angle (2 MOA) red dot is utilized to allow maximum accuracy at all distances and under all environmental conditions.

Unique features for the Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic

  • Always ready - always on. Turn it on for up to 3 years using one single battery. No need to fumble with switches prior to use.
  • 2 minute of angle red dot for accurate target engagement at all distances.
  • In service date and battery change date reminders makes inventory tracking and maintenance easy.
  • Enhanced speed on target and increased first shot hit probability when compared to iron sights and magnified scopes.
  • Compatible with all generations of night vision devices and may be used with Aimpoint 3X Magnifier and Concealed Engagement unit.
  • Hard anodized aluminum alloy housing. Rugged enough for real world conditions and waterproof to 150 feet.
  • Threaded front lens opening allows use of screw-in anti-reflection device (ARD).
  • Front and rear flip covers keep lenses clean.
  • Transparent rear flip cover allows use of the sight (with both eyes open) even with both covers closed in an emergency.
  • Modular mount set up for use on flat-top AR15, M4 Carbine and M16 rifles. (Adapter available for carry handle mounting)
  • Removable spacer. Remove for use on shotguns and sub-guns.
  • QRP2 rail grabber mount. Snap knob three times for a perfect mount. Will not deform your rail like many other mounts.
  • Recessed lens openings helps prevent against impact damage, fingerprints and scratches.

    Superb Optic
Been eyeing this optic for a while and when LAPG offered 20 percent off all in stock items I jumped on it. Could not be more pleased with the optic. Simple setup, simple zeroing, and simple operation. Accuracy is spot on....and you can€™t beat a 3 year battery life.

    The best. Bar NONE.
After purchasing and testing many red dots I’ve come to the conclusion that these are the best CQB red dot on the market. Eotech is also good but way to $$$$. I have one and it says good just can’t soend that kind of $$ for a red dot. But I’m glad I have one. The trijicon MRO is awful. DO NOT buy that optic. I sent mine back. Anyways....this is the best optic. Clear true 1x glass w agreat viewing port. Awesome battery life. Just the best.
ProsGreat battery life. Great field of view. It is built like a tank. Night vision ready.
ConsMaybe the size. Alittle large but small price to pay for the functionality of the optic. That’s about all I have.

    Great product
Very easy to mount and adjust. I have one on my DPMS A-15 .223 and on a 6.8 SPC I had built for me, both flat tops. To be honest, both Aimpoint Pro's were almost already co-signed with my flip up sights. I still need range time with them. Cool Beans!
    ProsIdiot proof. Simple and easy
Cons4-5 clicks on the brightness adjustment dial before you actually see the red dot sight. I can live with that.

    Aimpoint PRO
I've only had the PRO for a couple of weeks. I have it attached to my patrol rifle. Zeroing was easy and quick. Easy to attach and remove. I have two issues with the device so far. One is after zeroing I placed in a soft case in the rear of my vehicle. After a week I pulled my rifle out and noticed the optic was loose. The tightening device is not ideal, I would prefer it to mount solid and stay in place. The good part was that after tightening the screw, the zero still held. It has many settings for brightness, but during the day you can only use the two highest settings. Time will tell as far as the tightening screwed goes. Overall a sold, yet big, optic at a great price.
ProsHolds zero and easy to use.
ConsTightening screwed works loose. Many brightness settings, however many wash out in regular daylight.

Great red dot scope for the money.
Aimpoint seems to be the best for my use. I have several of their scopes in T1/T2 and H1. Also other PROs. All work well and I'm pleased when mounted. I have a couple other brands and they are OK. Only the Primary Arms seems to be nearly as good - with way less price tag.

    Aimpoint quality/ruggedness/warranty!
Aimpoint makes solid stuff and the PRO is no exception. I looked for months to find another Comp ML3 but, they arent in stock (not produced anymore). I wasnt too keen on a used sight after getting a dud that only lasted about 2 months before the rheostat let go and the dot would just flicker. Decided to just go for a new red dot and once I saw the PRO pop up for sale on LAPoliceGear for $371.45, ready-to-mount mind you, to my door it was a no brainer. Aimpoint pretty much axed all the other versions of this 30mm RDS (Comp M3, ML3) and the PRO has taken the place of them. Uses the same ACET circuits as them but, the PRO does NOT have an off position. The 1/3N lasts like 3 ish years at setting 7. So theoretically it should last a good bit longer than that at the lowest setting.
ProsAimpoint, 30MM, FOV, Caps, Lower 1/3 or Absolute QRP2 Mount
ConsNot enough money to buy more

It fits a standard Picatinny rail. Fit my AR platform just fine first time. No issues at all. Zeroing was real easy. Works well with my back up Troy flip up sights. Im very happy with the purchase. Seems like acsolid product so far. This is the first full week of duty use riding around in the rack in the patrol car so we will see how well the mount holds up after 40+ hours this week.

Yes, it will work great, with the spacer taken out. I have mine on a M1A Scout Squad which has the rail as the SOCOM 16. It makes quick work of steel silhouettes at 75 meters and in. 200m shots are no problem either, which is as far out as I have shot it. It replaced and EOTech 512.

With the provided mount, it's an absolute co-witness. The mount does have a spacer in it that can be removed for a "closer to the bore axis" style mount, but this is the opposite of the 1/3 mount. If 1/3 co-witness is desired, a new mount must be purchased.

I removed the spacer and it provides an absolute co-witness with my irons. Im surprised with all these other folks comments about it not providing both lower 1/3 and absolute with and without the included spacer...

Are these optics optimized for 5.56 trajectory? Curious if one would be accurate and withstand recoil of an FAL or similar. I understand mounting would involve utilizing railed dust cover and co-witness most likely not possible.
    4 Answers
I've had mine on a 7.5" AR pistol, and an 11.5" 7.62x39 AR pistol. Holds zero perfectly. Even after getting tossed around the cab in a roll over crash. Picked it up, brushed it off, fired a mag in the ten ring at 50 yards.

In response to your question: I mounted my Aimpiont PRO on my short-barreled custom AR straight out of the box and it was dead-on target! I have a flat rail with MagPul back up sights and it co-witnessed perfectly. I've only had it for one week and have already put about 400 rounds through it without a hiccup. The mounting was as simple as you can imagine and the accuracy is impeccable! I've shot out to two hundred meters already without missing a shot. This is a must have for any serious gun fighter!

I do not know if the PRO will work only with the 5.56 round, but my assumption is that any red dot, including the PRO, will work with any round, provided that you know the zero and trajectory of your particular one. The Aimpoint product information page at does not specify the optic is for exclusive use with 5.56 and mentions it is for rifles, shotguns and submachine guns. I zeroed mine at 100 yards, so I know I have to compensate for the 5.56 trajectory at longer or shorter ranges. If you learn the trajectory of the 7.62 (.308), then you should be able to work with it in a similar fashion. Probably a good idea to call Aimpro and confirm it will work on FAL or AR-10 pattern rifle. My PRO is mounted on an LE6920 (I removed the carry handle). It co-witnesses perfectly with the standard front sight and a Magpul BUIS rear sight. I found it easy to shoot irons through the PRO, and actually used them as a guide to sight in the PRO initially. Since I knew my irons were sighted in for 100 yards, I simply adjusted the red dot to the top of the front sight as I viewed through the rear BUIS, and my first round was on paper near the bullseye. Also, just about every time I shoot, I remove the PRO from the flat top receiver and use a Nikon P-223 3-9x scope for longer range work as well as get in some iron sight practice. When I put the PRO back on, it has never failed to hold its zero. In my experience, the PRO has been a tremendous value for the money. Very high quality and durable, well worth saving up for. I am not LE or military and for my purposes I can't really see why anyone would pay hundreds more for the other Aimpoints, unless their agency is paying for it. Also, LAPG service and shipping is great, and with a coupon/promotion and/or free shipping it is possible to get the price under $400 (just have to be patient). Hope this helps.
    on December 3, 2013
    from Colorado
No, it is not optimized for any particular caliber. It's only going to give you a singe 2 MOA red dot, so just like iron sights, wherever you zero it will be your Point of Aim/Point of Impact. It comes ready to mount on a flattop AR platform, however you can take the spacer out and mount it lower for other platforms (AKs, Scout Rails, Shotguns, etc.). I have mine on a M1A Scout Squad and it has no problem holding zero with the recoil from the 7.62 NATO (.308) round.

    4 Answers
Yes, the Aimpoint Pro will mount to a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle. Although, it does not co-witness with the front sight. It seems a bit large and is mounted high for this rifle but it will work. It mounts directly to the Ruger Picitanny rail out of the box.

Yes, it will work perfect. If you remove the spacer, it will mount lower and be at a better height for this rifle. I have mine on a M1A Scout Squad, which puts it in the same location as the Ruger.

What in your opinion is the best aimpoint scope for a springfield M1A scout ? I will mount on the forward rail. will I need accessories?
    1 Answers
If you are looking for a sight, you can't go wrong with the Aimpoint PRO, especially for the price. If you are in fact looking for a scope, it all depends on what you are going to use it for. This Aimpoint sight mounts via standard Picatinny rails, so you will not need any accessories to attach it.
