Description
Aimpoint has removed restrictions on the sale of the Patrol Rifle Optic and this product is now available to all customers (Domestic Shipments Only)!

Please Note: The battery and adjustment cap retainer straps are no longer included. Aimpoint has updated the caps so they no longer require the strap.

Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO) is designed with input from a distinguished group of current and former professionals, the Patrol Rifle Optic incorporates many never before seen features to maximize this sight's performance within the challenging conditions faced by modern law enforcement. A hard-anodized 30mm tube was utilized, enclosing a high efficiency circuit that allows the sight to be turned on and left on for up to three years using a single battery.

The front lens utilizes a unique band-pass coating, which allows the sight to be used with all generations of night vision devices. The modular QRP2 mount includes a removable spacer that indexes the sight at the optimal height for co-witness with the standard iron sights on AR15/M16/M4 Carbine style weapons. This spacer can be removed to enable the use of the sight on police shotguns or sub-machineguns. The QRP2 mount also incorporates a torque-limiting twist knob that provides the optimal level of pressure on the rail while completely eliminating the possibility of over-tightening. Both the front and rear lenses are recessed within the sight body to provide protection against impact damage, scratches, and fingerprints.

Flip covers are included to further protect the lenses, and a transparent rear lens cover is utilized allowing the user to engage a target with the lens covers closed in an emergency situation. A two Minute of Angle (2 MOA) red dot is utilized to allow maximum accuracy at all distances and under all environmental conditions.

Unique features for the Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic

  • Always ready - always on. Turn it on for up to 3 years using one single battery. No need to fumble with switches prior to use.
  • 2 minute of angle red dot for accurate target engagement at all distances.
  • In service date and battery change date reminders makes inventory tracking and maintenance easy.
  • Enhanced speed on target and increased first shot hit probability when compared to iron sights and magnified scopes.
  • Compatible with all generations of night vision devices and may be used with Aimpoint 3X Magnifier and Concealed Engagement unit.
  • Hard anodized aluminum alloy housing. Rugged enough for real world conditions and waterproof to 150 feet.
  • Threaded front lens opening allows use of screw-in anti-reflection device (ARD).
  • Front and rear flip covers keep lenses clean.
  • Transparent rear flip cover allows use of the sight (with both eyes open) even with both covers closed in an emergency.
  • Modular mount set up for use on flat-top AR15, M4 Carbine and M16 rifles. (Adapter available for carry handle mounting)
  • Removable spacer. Remove for use on shotguns and sub-guns.
  • QRP2 rail grabber mount. Snap knob three times for a perfect mount. Will not deform your rail like many other mounts.
  • Recessed lens openings helps prevent against impact damage, fingerprints and scratches.

  • Applications: Law Enforcement carbines, rifles, shotguns and submachineguns

Great red dot scope for the money.
Aimpoint seems to be the best for my use. I have several of their scopes in T1/T2 and H1. Also other PROs. All work well and I'm pleased when mounted. I have a couple other brands and they are OK. Only the Primary Arms seems to be nearly as good - with way less price tag.

    Aimpoint quality/ruggedness/warranty!
Aimpoint makes solid stuff and the PRO is no exception. I looked for months to find another Comp ML3 but, they arent in stock (not produced anymore). I wasnt too keen on a used sight after getting a dud that only lasted about 2 months before the rheostat let go and the dot would just flicker. Decided to just go for a new red dot and once I saw the PRO pop up for sale on LAPoliceGear for $371.45, ready-to-mount mind you, to my door it was a no brainer. Aimpoint pretty much axed all the other versions of this 30mm RDS (Comp M3, ML3) and the PRO has taken the place of them. Uses the same ACET circuits as them but, the PRO does NOT have an off position. The 1/3N lasts like 3 ish years at setting 7. So theoretically it should last a good bit longer than that at the lowest setting.

    Tight optic
This red dot seems like it should cost more. It's super solid and the quick detach and mount are extremely well built and it's amazing that they are included at this price point. If you're considering this sight know that it is well worth the price, especially considering how well aimpoint stands behind their optics.

    Good Optic
I had this optic for a little over a year now. I put the battery in and turned it on and it has stayed on since. The dot has not dimmed at all. I bought some new batteries just in case but I think it will stay on for the full 30,000 hours as advertised. Although the other day my rifle suffered a 3 foot drop onto the concrete as I was grabbing gear from the trunk of my car. I was dissapointed to notice a shift in zero. I was able to see that it had shifted since it was cowittnessed with my iron sights. I took it to the range and at 50 yards I noticed that it had shifted 2.5 inches left and 3 inches low from the point of impact. That would of been a huge difference at 100 yards. Luckily it was easy to re-zero and I could fit all the rounds into a quarter at 50 yards which is where I zero my AR15. The only reason I was disappointed is you hear all the abuse these aimpoint optics go through and they hold zero. Mine suffered one accidental drop and lost zero. Just remember nothing is unfallible and if you take care of it, it will take care of you. I mounted this on my patrol rifle and have shot it frequently. Through normal use it has held up great. It is a red dot, it's quick for close quarters and with its long battery life I can keep it on and ready. I myself have noticed the the mount comes loose on me after a hundred rounds or so and always needs retightened. But this can be fixed with a different mount. If you work or operate (I use operate loosely) in an area that is wide open ranges I would opt for a magnified optic like a 1 to 4 power. But this suits my needs well. As mentioned before I used this on my patrol rifle. Last winter I saw temperatures below 0. Pulling my rifle in and out of the warm vehicle did not cause my optic to fog up which was a concern for me. I also take my rifle to the mountains with me when I'm riding my ATV. The rifle with optic is mounted on a rifle mount on the front of the ATV. Through the vibration ofor the motor and all the bumps and one time it was put in the ditch the optic has held zero just fine. It's been made to sit in the rain, been snowed on, and even had I've frozen to it and it works great still. Sorry to make this so long I was just trying to make sure I touched all the bases. Overall I like the optic alot. Through normal use it has held zero well. It losing zero when dropped may have been a fluke it landed right on the optic. I'm glad it still works and all it needed was re-zeroed. It has been on a little over a year now so the battery rocks.
ProsEasy to mount and zero. Super long battery life and does not fog when going to and from hot and cold temperatures. Definitely weather proof.
ConsMount loosens on me after higher round counts and needs to be retightened every so often. The dot works but is not excellent for engaging further targets although can be done pretty easily out to 300 yards. Past 300 yards the dot starts to take up the target even when turned down.

    Aimpoint PRO
I was immediately impressed with the robust design of this optic. It has a solid feel so I expect it to withstand any field use. This is a replacement for an EOTech HWS that I hated parting with due to its red dot design but I took advantage of L3's return program due to issues with some of their sights. When I first turned on the PRO I was a bit disappointed with having to adjust to the Aimpoint red dot. Once I mounted it on my SIG 556 rifle and took it out to the range, that all changed. The sight was very easy to site in. I sited in the PRO 1.2 inches low at 25yards and it was spot on at 200 yards. Hitting a steel plate at the 200 yard range was effortless. Another concern I had with buying the PRO was whether I would be able to use my EOTech 3x magnifier thinking the height above the rail might be an issue. Turns out it was a match made in Heaven! All I can say is I love my new Aimpoint PRO and you will too!!!
ProsI have other Aimpoints......Micro H1 and T1. Love those two sights and love the PRO! What can I say but the design, simplicity of use, and robust design of these Aimpoint sites will cause me to purchase more Aimpoint products in the future. The folks at LA Police Gear are second to none. My online purchase experience with them has always been very positive with quick delivery, excellent customer service, product availability, and very competitive prices. I will continue to use LA Police Gear for future purchases!!!
ConsBattery model, availability, and cost. I immediately ordered some spare batteries for the PRO on Amazon Prime. A 3-pack of Duracells for about $10.

It fits a standard Picatinny rail. Fit my AR platform just fine first time. No issues at all. Zeroing was real easy. Works well with my back up Troy flip up sights. Im very happy with the purchase. Seems like acsolid product so far. This is the first full week of duty use riding around in the rack in the patrol car so we will see how well the mount holds up after 40+ hours this week.

With the provided mount, it's an absolute co-witness. The mount does have a spacer in it that can be removed for a "closer to the bore axis" style mount, but this is the opposite of the 1/3 mount. If 1/3 co-witness is desired, a new mount must be purchased.

Are these optics optimized for 5.56 trajectory? Curious if one would be accurate and withstand recoil of an FAL or similar. I understand mounting would involve utilizing railed dust cover and co-witness most likely not possible.

I've had mine on a 7.5" AR pistol, and an 11.5" 7.62x39 AR pistol. Holds zero perfectly. Even after getting tossed around the cab in a roll over crash. Picked it up, brushed it off, fired a mag in the ten ring at 50 yards.

In response to your question: I mounted my Aimpiont PRO on my short-barreled custom AR straight out of the box and it was dead-on target! I have a flat rail with MagPul back up sights and it co-witnessed perfectly. I've only had it for one week and have already put about 400 rounds through it without a hiccup. The mounting was as simple as you can imagine and the accuracy is impeccable! I've shot out to two hundred meters already without missing a shot. This is a must have for any serious gun fighter!

I do not know if the PRO will work only with the 5.56 round, but my assumption is that any red dot, including the PRO, will work with any round, provided that you know the zero and trajectory of your particular one. The Aimpoint product information page at http://www.aimpoint.com/us/products/all-products/product-singleview/product/PRO/?cHash=f371b4ba82ae4db4d02e8f347efeab07 does not specify the optic is for exclusive use with 5.56 and mentions it is for rifles, shotguns and submachine guns. I zeroed mine at 100 yards, so I know I have to compensate for the 5.56 trajectory at longer or shorter ranges. If you learn the trajectory of the 7.62 (.308), then you should be able to work with it in a similar fashion. Probably a good idea to call Aimpro and confirm it will work on FAL or AR-10 pattern rifle. My PRO is mounted on an LE6920 (I removed the carry handle). It co-witnesses perfectly with the standard front sight and a Magpul BUIS rear sight. I found it easy to shoot irons through the PRO, and actually used them as a guide to sight in the PRO initially. Since I knew my irons were sighted in for 100 yards, I simply adjusted the red dot to the top of the front sight as I viewed through the rear BUIS, and my first round was on paper near the bullseye. Also, just about every time I shoot, I remove the PRO from the flat top receiver and use a Nikon P-223 3-9x scope for longer range work as well as get in some iron sight practice. When I put the PRO back on, it has never failed to hold its zero. In my experience, the PRO has been a tremendous value for the money. Very high quality and durable, well worth saving up for. I am not LE or military and for my purposes I can't really see why anyone would pay hundreds more for the other Aimpoints, unless their agency is paying for it. Also, LAPG service and shipping is great, and with a coupon/promotion and/or free shipping it is possible to get the price under $400 (just have to be patient). Hope this helps.

No, it is not optimized for any particular caliber. It's only going to give you a singe 2 MOA red dot, so just like iron sights, wherever you zero it will be your Point of Aim/Point of Impact. It comes ready to mount on a flattop AR platform, however you can take the spacer out and mount it lower for other platforms (AKs, Scout Rails, Shotguns, etc.). I have mine on a M1A Scout Squad and it has no problem holding zero with the recoil from the 7.62 NATO (.308) round.

Yes, the Aimpoint Pro will mount to a Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle. Although, it does not co-witness with the front sight. It seems a bit large and is mounted high for this rifle but it will work. It mounts directly to the Ruger Picitanny rail out of the box.

Yes, it will mount perfectly. Might be a little big/awkward compared to traditional scout scopes, but it will function very well at that location.

Yes, it will work perfect. If you remove the spacer, it will mount lower and be at a better height for this rifle. I have mine on a M1A Scout Squad, which puts it in the same location as the Ruger.

What in your opinion is the best aimpoint scope for a springfield M1A scout ? I will mount on the forward rail. will I need accessories?

If you are looking for a sight, you can't go wrong with the Aimpoint PRO, especially for the price. If you are in fact looking for a scope, it all depends on what you are going to use it for. This Aimpoint sight mounts via standard Picatinny rails, so you will not need any accessories to attach it.
