    Great boot
This is my 3rd pair of this particular boot! Very comfortable, great support, wear well! I do a lot of walking -- indoors & outdoors -- on my job. My feet stay dry, warm and comfortable in any weather Michigan's climate can throw at us! I highly recommend this boot.

    They Were Ok
These boots were ok but nothing special. Unfortunately this past winter showed their shortcomings as the waterproofing failed and my feet were constantly soaked in the snow and rain. They are a comfortable enough boot, but are somewhat on the heavy side for my taste, especially if they aren't going to stay waterproof. The other issue I had with them was the leather scuffed easily and turned bluish grey. I couldn't get them to hold a polish after that.

I really love these boots. It's been nothing but raining and so far my feet have stayed dried. Only downfall is a scuff mark/ leather tear on the toes from getting hit once. Other then that I love them. Best boots so far I've purchased.

Impossible to provide a review with any weight...I had a motorcycle/deer accident the same day that the shoes arrived. In my condition I haven't been able to even try them on. Having said that...they appear to be of very good construction, and I expect that I'll be very satisfied!

This is my 2nd pair. I got 4 years out of my last pair and wear them about 6 months of the year. My old ones are still fine, just cut up a bit but still stay dry and they'll become my "dirty" boots.

    Very comfortable
These are the most comfortable boots I've warn at work in the last 3 yrs. Better than Bates and Oakley without a doubt. Only thing I don't like is the side zip isn't enough to get boots off, also have to untie them. But the comfort is what is important.

Where are these boots manufactured ? I found that shoes made in China fit to USA shoe size but if they are made over in Vietnam they tend to run smaller.

I had these exact same boots almost five years ago, which I had bought about a half size larger "just in case." Well, those 11.5 wide fit perfectly (even though I thought I had 10.5 feet all my life). So, I just purchased these again, and am happy to report that the same 11.5 wide fits just like that of the five year old pair ago. But that's not to say that 511s are even across the board. Before reordering these, I had attempted to try a different 511 style (in size 12 even) but had to return them because they felt like they were almost TWO sizes too small. So one really has to be careful when ordering and be prepared to send things back. I think the new style were not of Chinese manufacture. Even as these were slightly more expensive, I rather have something that fits and wears well. I agree that the China sizes are persistent with previously ordered items and are almost the same as US sizes. However the ones from Vietnam or Bangladesh all seem to have sizing (running too small) issues.

I have a really wide foot. 10-1/2 EEE. Often I'll buy shoes in a 11 or 11-1/2. What would you suggest for these? Do your boots stretch some?
    2 Answers
I've been wearing these for years, and in my opinion they run true to size. Buy what you normally buy to solve your foot size situation. You'll love the boot... long wearing, comfortable, and very water resistant. I buy them again and again, year after year. They're my favorite boot of all time.

Gary, I really like these boots. I'm on my 2nd pair now. I still wear the first pair for extracurricular activities on the weekends, but I like the less rough look of the new ones for day to day. Mine have stretched some, but not much... but my feet aren't that wide. I typically buy 10 1/2 shoes, but my boots are 10s. Good luck in purchasing your boots.

Yes they will. I've had mine for three months and the shine that I've put on them has not only held, but increased as time went on (and I continued shining). Keep in mind, I polish about twice/three times per week. I'm slowly backing off as the shine that I want is holding

Brian, yes, the insoles can be removed to accommodate orthotics, which I have done. The boots themselves are comfortable, light, require no break-in time and I am on my 3rd pair. The only caveat I find is the durability of the soles. They don't last past 1.5 to 2 years. I sacrifice that for the positives I've mentions. If you order them, enjoy.

Yes, the insoles can be removed and replaced with custom or other, ie; Doctor Scholls inserts, which I have done. The 511 insoles are of good quality and may serve your needs without the expense of the custom made. I like the added cushion of the Dr Scholls in the 511 boots, and use the 511 liners in my cowboy boots, as they are thinner yet soft anf supporting. I and my sons have worn the 511s for years of good use. Stay safe and thanks for your service.

I just have a question about the sizing, I bought a pair of red wing boots over a year ago, and I needed 14, however in shoe I wear 15 wide. Would I follow the redwing sizing chart for these boots? Or my regular shoe size?
    1 Answers
I would have suggested just going with a 14 Wide, but unfortunately they don't come in that size. 5.11 has a comfort guarantee, so if you purchase the 14 and find that they do not fit to your liking, you can contact us here at CS@lapolicegear.com or give us a call at 866-793-1911 and we should be able to have a return label sent out to you and allow you to reorder a size up. Just make sure you wear the boots inside when test fitting, we can't accept boots that were obviously worn or have scuffs on them.
