    Stitching: below standards.
    July 28, 2017
After a few months of use, the stitching of the top strap was starting break. I did not overload the bag, nor did i use the top strap as often as the actual shoulder straps. I thought it was a fluke because it was only a few months of use and it alrteady starting showing signs of stitching degradation/loosening. I was able to replace it, free of charge. Thank you LAPG. Unfortunately, after a month of use, the top strap AGAIN started to show signs of breaking. I did not overload, and even lightened the already minimal load. The stitching is just BAD.
    Pros:
    Multiple pockets. Decent size.
    Cons:
Not really worth the money spent, to only be disappointed with its quality of stitching. You can have all the zippers, all the pockets, all the purpose. But its all useless, if it cant be held together.

    Not for hard use

The carry strap broke after about a month of not so hard use. The stitching on the stress points needs to be better and would definitely improve the bag. A little disappointed.
    Pros:
    Design, rip-stop material.
    Cons:
    STITCHING is WEAK...

    Not worth the price.

I've owned/used my Vertx Gamut EDC Pack for about 9 months now. I whole-heartedly agree w/the other reviewer about the dimensions. The pack is awkwardly laid out so the pack is limited in function. But what disappointed me the most was the lack of industry standard, construction techniques that should have been used at a pack at this price point. The shoulder straps aren't BarTacked. The zipper ends aren't bar tacked. And vulnerable seams aren't double stitched properly or double stitched at all. I used to work for an outdoor goods manufacturing GIANT where we made/designed packs, tents, sleeping bags, etc. This bag's construction would never had made the cut. Especially with a MSRP as high as this one demands. There are some redeeming qualities though. Despite the awkward space layout, Vertx does always have new and innovative designs. Although I find I can't fit a whole lot in the pack, the stuff I have in there is very well organized. Bottom line, this pack makes for a good EDC bag if you a) Carry a firearm off-body b) use this bag as an office bag and don't have a need to carry a lot of volume. c) Have a lot of $$ so you can get another bag for the field.
    Pros:
Good for use as organizing office/laptop bag. Many small-med sized pockets to organize pens, change, etc.
    Cons:
Cost. Awkward volume spacing....can't really pack a bunch of stuff into it. Poor construction technology...not up to industry standards.

Great concept, but not very practical. For a 28L backpack the space is limited. The main compartment is tall, but very narrow. I found myself constantly having to remove multiple items just to get to items in the inner pockets or items that due to design were all the way at the bottom. As mentioned the inner pockets and the laptop compartment all take away from the overall size of the main compartment. This a 1/2 day pack at the most, I would honestly classify this as a computer bag. It is great just for carrying your laptop and very few items. For the price I would not recommend you buy this bag.
    Pros:
Good name behind it, good construction, great concept. Great for a computer bag, but that is it. This not close to a day pack at all. The 5.11 Rush 12 is smaller, more practical, and you can fit more gear overall.
    Cons:
Awkwardly tall, too narrow, inner pockets are useless if you have any gear in the main compartment.

    Exremely functional and well designed

It retains the rugged function of a tactical/military ruck while maintaining a discrete appearance. Build quality is very good. Works great as EDC and Laptop pack. Get the Gamut Plus if you want to use it as a weekender. Check out the videos online for a good summary on the features.
    Pros:
High quality materials and construction. The stitching and assembly are very well done. I expect the pack to last for a long time. Extremely functional with storage options and built in keepers for having excess straps nice and tidy. All straps are adjustable or removable depending on use. Carry and access of a pistol is effective and efficient. MOLLE webbing easily exposed/concealed.
    Cons:
Some are disappointed by the limited color options
