SureFire KX heads are extended-runtime LED heads with an aerospace-grade
aluminum bezel, a virtually indestructible light emitting diode, and a Total Internal
Reflection (TIR) lens that creates a bright, tightly focused central beam and enough
surround beam to accommodate peripheral vision. A KX head converts a SureFire
incandescent E1E, E2E, and E2D flashlight into a longer-running (and higher-output, in
the case of the E1E) LED flashlight. It also replaces the less efficient KL LED heads
used on older versions of the E1L and E2L Outdoorsman to enable these flashlights to
generate more output and significantly more runtime. Durable, O-ring-sealed KX heads
install in seconds—simply unscrew and remove the light’s existing head and screw on
the new KX head.
The maximum output of the KX2 is 45 lumens, used on the two-battery E2E, E2L, and E2D. The KX2 produces
useful light levels for up to 14 hours. And because KX heads are
weatherproof and solid state, with no filament to burn out or break, they don’t need to
be periodically replaced, like an incandescent lamp. KX2 is hard anodized in either olive drab green or black.
