COMPACT RAIL MOUNTED TACTICAL LIGHT

Note from LAPG Staff - We have played with this light and we can tell you it is very bright for it's size. It is lightweight and easy to use. It was designed for small frame guns but will work on full size frames as well. We are looking forward to getting these on our personal guns.

Lightweight rail-mounted light, constructed of an impact-resistant polymer, is designed to fit compact and sub-compact handguns. It also fits most full-sized handguns with rails on the market. Now shining brighter at 125 lumens!

Features:

  • C4 LED delivers 5300 candela peak beam intensity; 125 lumens
  • Runs 1.5 continuous hours to the 10% output level
  • Textured parabolic reflector produces a concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination; optimized electronics provide regulated intensity
  • Compact - Weighs 2.32 ounces (65.8 grams) with included battery; 2.71 in. (6.88 cm)
  • Key kit included for mounting to a variety of weapons (H&K USP models do not include key kit)
  • Rail clamp designed to rapidly attach/detach from side of weapon. One handed snap-on and tighten interface keeps hands away from muzzle when attaching/detaching
  • Ambidextrous momentary/steady On-Off switch
  • Uses one 3V CR2 lithium battery (included)
  • Impact-resistant Engineering polymer construction with durable anodized aluminum facecap
  • Borofloat high temperature glass lens
  • IPX7 waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes
  • Operating temperature: -40F to +120F.
  • Serialized for positive identification
  • Models also available for H&K USP Compact frame and H&K USP Full Size frame

    Mixed bag.
    October 26, 2014
Having owned a TLR 1 for some time I had high hopes for this TLR 3 compact light. Its substantially smaller than the TLR 1 but there are too many downsides to its compactness. Tried to put this on a XD45 and noticed the toggle switch would not actuate, the trigger guard of the XD was too thick to allow the paddle to move all the way. Comparing the two lights the TLR 3 has a narrower paddle switch, which limits it to guns with a thin enough trigger guard to move the switch to on position. It would not work with a Taurus either. Then tried it on a Glock 17 and it fit fine, due to the narrower triggerguard, HOWEVER the paddle switch took so much effort to move to steady on that I had to use my left hand and twist it, fingertip pressure from the right hand was not enough. Maybe my particular light isnt broken in enough, but this light takes substantially more effort to turn ON than the TLR 1 which has a very smooth and positive paddle switch. Comparing brightness between the two, the TLR 3 has a bit more bluish tint than my older TLR 1, but they were both about the same brightness which is very bright. Because of the clunky paddle switch and limited application because of triggerguard size I relegated this light to the rail on a rifle where the extra pressure to turn the switch is not an issue. Buyer beware, these plastic body lights are nowhere near the quality of an aluminum body TLR 1. I would spend extra on the slightly bigger and more versatile TLR1 style lights had I known these limitations.
    Pros:
    Bright, compact.
    Cons:
Paddle switch is too narrow and requires too much fingertip pressure.

    Compact decent light
    August 13, 2014
Small but bright enough for my safe gun. Have a couple of TRL1's on other guns but wanted a smaller light for my Glock 23. This fit the bill. Good quality, easy install and at $72 a decent light.
    Pros:
    Good light, good price

    Great Compact Light
    May 17, 2014
The Streamlight TLR3 is a great compact light. It is surprisingly bright for only using one small camera battery (NOT a CR123). It comes with the necessary parts to attach to a variety of firearms. It fits everything I own with rails from Glocks to Kel Tec PMR30 to Walther TP22. Great price on sale at almost half off.

    Excellent handgun light!!
    January 23, 2014
This light is everything that Streamlight promises it will be! The amount of light it produces is definitely adequate for most low light situations, however it is noticeably less light than a traditional TLR-1 (2 battery model) light puts out. I recommend it for smaller pistols geared for concealed carry (I have it on a Glock 30). There are several different kydex holster options both OWB and IWB that will accommodate the setup I have. I would not recommend it for larger pistols, long guns, or anything that will be used for tactical purposes, simply because the TLR-1 is a much better option. Overall, this is a good light, and if you're buying to put on a concealed carry weapon, you will not be let down. Please note: It takes one CR2 battery, not a CR123A battery. This is a different battery than most other flashlights.
    Pros:
Small size, and many different newer kydex holster options that will accommodate this light on your weapon. Great for concealed carry.
    Cons:
Not quite as much light as the TLR-1, which is to be expected due to the TLR-3 only using one battery. The battery it uses is a CR2, and not a CR123A. CR2 batteries are harder to find, more expensive, and not used by any other flashlights.

    Good light for sub-compacts
    January 3, 2014
Bought this for a Taurus Millenium Pro. Of the handful of sub-compact weapon lights that I found, this one had the best value and is made by a company that I am familiar with. Mounted on my pistol right out of the box and the controls are easily accessible at the front of the trigger guard. For the size of the light, it has a very bright and focused beam.
    Pros:
    Good value and construction
    Cons:
Would like to have had a strobe

    Excellent weapon light
    December 10, 2013
This is my second tlr-3 that I've bought. The first one was mounted on my G23 and this most recent purchase was mounted to my G19. What sold me on the tlr 3 is the weight and price. Very comfortable and easy to manipulate when mounted to the pistol. I've bought both from LA Police and received excellent customer service both times. I've actually done some night time shooting with some friends and a class I did a few months back. Worked great. Highly recommend the tlr 3.

    Affordable Option
    November 14, 2013
Excellent weapons mounted light at an affordable price. The LED output seems just as bright and intense as the full size TLR-1. It comes with a set of letter marked adapters and instructions to configure it correctly to fit most popular pistols. The only drawback is that not many companies have started manufacturing holsters to fit this particular light.

I have several Stream lights. I put them on all my Carbines. I got this one because it is small and fit the only place it could go on my Mossberg shotgun. Teh feature I like best about these lights is the treadle bar switch. it is easy to operate in a variety of ways.. Here's the bottom line,,, You can't go wrong with this product! Randy

    April 7, 2013
I've had a TLR-3 on my duty weapon (Glock 22) for a couple years now. I've never had any problems or concerns with it. Its not the brightest of the gun lights, but it gets the job done. A big plus for me is that my light doesn't extend past the barrel like some of the others do. If I was going to buy another light, I'd buy this one again.

what holsters do u suggest for a glock 21s/f and this light
    on June 28, 2013

    Answer:
We do not carry any holsters made specifically for a Glock 21SF with a TLR-3. You will most likely need to either purchase a universal holster or have one custom made.

Will this light fit a H&K rail system...since H&K decided to make up thier own design different from everyone elses?
    on July 25, 2013

    Answer:
The Streamlight TLR Weapon Lights will not fit on H&K rails. To get the TLR-3 to work on your H&K you will need a rail adapter. If you have a full sized USP you will want this adapter: http://www.lapolicegear.com/st-69085-hk-adapter.html, or if you have a compact USP you will want this one: http://www.lapolicegear.com/st-69091-hk-mount.html
