    Best Ever
    December 13, 2014
This is the brightest flashlight I have ever used. I've been hunting and farming for over 40 years and watched as lights got brighter and the size got smaller. This light throws a beam like a handheld spotlight of 10 years ago! Great Job Streamlight! Lead On!
    Pros:
Bright clean light over a long distance. Small enough to fit in my pocket. Great quality!
    Cons:
    None

    Really Bright!
    November 17, 2014
As noted in other reviews, this light is one hot number. Very bright and does get pretty warm if you use it for more than a few minutes. Not so hot that you have to drop it, but a little uncomfortable. It also blows through batteries quickly. The lists says it will last 90 minutes on high and that's about a max. It's also a bit hard to change the light settings. The "nine clicks and hold" is harder to do than you would think. On the upside, the listing doesn't mention it, but it has a strobe feature. Again, it's tough to make it work, but it is there for those who want to take the time to mess with it. I use it for night search and rescue and for this it works great. I just have to remember to take lots of extra batteries. Overall, one very bright and useful light.
    Pros:
    Exceedingly bright.
    Cons:
Hard on batteries. Hard to change light settings.

    Love it!

This is the brightest flashlight I have ever used, and I have a rechargeable Maglight with the LED head (much bigger and heavier than the HL3). This will be the one I carry in the truck.

Skip This One! Gets Too Hot to Hold After Three Minutes!
    September 4, 2014
It is a bright light but it gets too HOT TO HANDLE!! After a few minutes it is so hot that it will burn your hand. I am scared to leave it around the house because I am worried that my kid will find it and hurt himself. I contacted Streamlight about the issue and said something must be wrong for light to burn your hand when used as intended. A Streamlight customer service rep advised me to "run it on the low setting." Duh! The issue is that when used as intended on the regular setting the body of the light will BURN YOU. SKIP THIS ONE!
    Pros:
    Very Bright
    Cons:
Will blister your hand it gets so hot.

    Solid Brite Light
    August 26, 2014
This is by far the brightest light that I own. Used off and on quite a bit camping in Colorado last month. It will really light up the forest. Our black lab was barking one night, used the HL3 . Two green eyes about 50 yard off. Not sure what they were, but never came any closer. Seems very rugged. A little large for carry in pants pocket.

Amazing light for the price, better than my Surefire!
    August 19, 2014
I thought it was going to be too good to be true for a light to claim it's 1,100 Lumens for just $87.99 but when I got it I was amazed at the light output. The difference between it and the Surefire 800 Lumen light is that as with most Surefire's its a tighter beam as where this one is a little more open / flood but boy can this think throw a lot of light. For the price it's a give away. Glad I bought two!
    Pros:
Study design, LOTS OF LIGHT for a fraction of all the other alleged Pro Lights out there!
    Cons:
I noticed that added a disclaimer to the description of the light because I had the very same problem. When you get the light, just before shoving the batteries in, be sure to pull out the sticky label the put in the shaft of the light or you'll have to find something to get it out which will be difficult if it get stuck at the lamp end.

    SUPER BRIGHT!!!
    August 17, 2014
this light is CRAZY bright!! the only down side is switching modes is a little cumbersome with the single switch.
    Pros:
very bright and tough as hell
    Cons:
there should be 2 switches to work the various modes and it gets HOT during long term use.

    August 8, 2014
I may have a defective one it is tough to tell. I can push the on switch and nothing happens, I put it down and it comes on later. Actually burned several sets of batteries like this. I cannot trust it and am sending it back to company for diagnostics.
    Pros:
    Very bright
    Cons:
    not reliable

DOA on my birthday: going to buy new batteries
    July 28, 2014
Bday gift from the wife, I was allowed to pick out. Dropped in the batteries, and nothing. Confirmed battery directionality, no go. Really hoping it just needs new batts. REALLY bummed.
    Pros:
Good size and weight for a high power belt clipped light.
    Cons:
Arrived doa :( still recommend it , as it seems I'm a minority.
