Description

The LA Police Gear Urban Recon Pants are made from 100% Cotton Duck Canvas (9.5 oz weight) fabric. This fabric has tons of uses, but as of yet has not been seen in a popular pair of tactical pants. After a thorough development process and testing phase, LAPG is proud to bring these pants to the market. During our testing, we found this fabric to be exceedingly comfortable and yet still cool and extremely tough. We are confident that if you give this pant a try, you will become a Duck Canvas fabric fan too.

Aside from the fabric, this pant features an elastic waistband, 7 pockets in total (including one slip pocket and two cargo pockets), a gusseted crotch, articulating knees, a brass tac-stud closure, and a brass locking YKK zipper. In short, we packed the pants with all the features you've come to expect from LA Police Gear pants.

Satisfaction Guarantee & Free Returns: If you aren't happy with these pants when you try them on, we will pay for you to send them back to us and we will give you a full refund on the pant! Pants must be unwashed with the original packaging and tags. Please email us at CS@LAPoliceGear.com and we will send you a return label.

Fit:
These pants have a similar fit to our LA Police Gear Urban Ops pant, which is to say that they are not quite as baggy as traditional tactical pants. These definitely aren't a skinny jean, but aren't typical "parachute" tactical pants either. Let's call it a happy medium.

    Owner's review
    October 26, 2015
This is Sean writing this review - I own LAPG. I decided to do the untraditional thing of writing a review for my own product because I like these pants so much. When I first heard the name of this fabric I immediately thought they would be uncomfortable. Boy was I wrong. This 100% cotton duck canvas is GREAT! It is more comfortable to me than poly-cotton rip-stop pants we have all been wearing for years now. I find it regulates body temperature very well. I have worn these pants in temperature ranging from 40 to 100 degrees. They feel good in all environments. They also do a lot better than poly-cottons in protecting my legs from sparks, fire, abrasions or other things that either burn holes in or rip my "rip-stop" pants. In short I LOVE THESE PANTS and they are my goto pants if they are in my closet. The fit is similar to the LAPG Urban Ops or VertX style pants. They are not too baggy and I don't have to wear a belt with them to keep them up. These pants don't look so cop-ish (shoot me first tuxedos) like other big name brands. Why did we call them Urban Recons? Shit, I don't know. Sounded good at the time. Bottom line is these are JUST GREAT PANTS for just about any activity. I can hunt, weld, hike, shoot, run a PT course, or go to dinner in these pants. I seriously have done all these things in these pants and they have felt great, looked great, and performed great. I hope you give them a try and like them as much as I do! Sean - President - LA Police Gear, Inc

    Damn good for any occupation
    March 18, 2017
I'm in facilities maintenance and management, so I wanted a decent looking cargo oant that I could go to meetings in, but also didn't have to worry about getting dirty or ruined if I was working hard. Ordered two pair to start, and now came back to order four more. Especially for the sale price. I absolutely love these pants. Hell, I love LAPG overall. What a great company and product.
    Pros:
    Comfortable, durable, multi-use
    Cons:
Only wish the back pockets had fasteners of some sort. Barely an issue though

    Great pants
    March 2, 2017
I use these pants for work, I have a pair that I have used for "tactical' stuff in the past and they work great as training pants (So long as "Training" isn't a popularity in clothes contest). I love them. Do what I need them to do and look good doing it. I don't work in an office, I'm in the field and they look fine. Take an iron to them every so often and you will be ok. Did rip the shit out of a pair on a peeled door, do not do body work on a car with a radio clipped to a belt loop :)
    Pros:
great layout, great fabric, great feel.
    Cons:
will shrink and fade as cotton does, side pockets are a tad shallow

I liked these before... now I REALLY like them
    February 28, 2017
I just finished a weekend workshop; I was (correctly) anticipating being all over the floor in some pretty interesting positions. I wore the Urban Recon pants for the drive, and had some shorts and sweats along for the workshop. Well, I just took the stuff out of my pockets and the pants worked out great except for the mat stains on my knees. If I had been wearing the black ones, I wouldn't even have noticed. I don't know how you got something that looks so normal to be so comfortable at this price. Thank you!
    Pros:
    Comfort and mobility
    Cons:
The fabric isn't quite as nice as my old Patagonias. But Patagonia doesn't make those pants any more and they cost a lot more even back then, so I'm not really complaining.

    Baggy
    February 28, 2017
Just like everyone says, order the next waist size up. Quality seems great, colors are great. The picture looks like the legs are slimmer than they are. They really are too baggy and the cargo pockets are too small. I would have returned them but shipping is on you and it isn't cheap. I'm trying the operator next.
    Pros:
    Material colors price super comfy
    Cons:
Too baggy, cargo pockets are too small. My Note 5 won't even fit.

    Great for the money
    January 26, 2017
Quality materials and construction. They put some thought into this pant that is apparent when you notice things like the gusseted crouch, the notch in the front pocket for knives pens and the like, the cell phone pocket. I really like the material. It's comfortable but still durable. Not as thick as carharts, but better than a lot of others. Sizing is accurate. My only gripe is the cut seems a bit baggy... I'd say similar to a loose jean cut. My preference would be something not as baggy. I have worn these pants several times and washed them several. They shrank only slightly, I wash cold and hang dry them. Overall, great pant! Good for work, hiking or anything else you want!
    Pros:
Notched front pockets. Comfortable and durable. Cell phone pocket is kind of handy. Deep front pockets. Good stitching. Price.
    Cons:
    A little baggy.

Excellent pants, great to have them in 100% cotton!
    January 26, 2017
I really hope these pants are not discontinued, as having this style available in a 100% cotton instead of a ripstop blend is wonderful. Once you get the correct size, the fit is extremely comfortable. Unless you are a very trim figure, order up AT LEAST one size over what you normally wear. For a looser fit around the legs, or more room for a IWB holster, go up two sizes. They will also shrink a little bit, so consider that as well. I'm just thrilled to have finally found pants with features I want with a fit and style I can wear every day.
    Pros:
    100% cotton material, comfortable fit
    Cons:
Seem to run small. Need to go up a size or two, also to account for shrinkage

    Length Shrinks Significantly After Washing
    January 22, 2017
I am 6'0", 190 lbs, and wear 36-32 in jeans, dress pants, etc. The 36/32 in slate brown here fit well when new, but after washing in warm water and drying on low - the waist shrunk ever so slightly, but the length shrunk significantly - to where they are basically highwaters now. I found the waist is slightly tighter than the Urban Ops I ordered at the same time, but comfortably wearable. I like the construction, the material, everything - but have to knock a few stars off because again, I've never had pants shrink in length as much as these. I will order 34 inseam next time.
    Pros:
    Durable, comfortable, good looks
    Cons:
Unacceptable length shrinkage - be sure to order the next longest length than what you usually wear, or after washing you will be disappointed too.

    Don't dis-continue!!!
    January 17, 2017
Of course everyone has they're opinions! and we know the saying about that but, I LOVE these pants. do they shrink? of course guys look at what they're made of. Order appropriately! Other than that they are GREAT pants! And they're just that pants, they fit like pants or JEANS! Some of us like 'em snug around the boys! that long crotch makes them feel like parachute pants! Nobody wants that. I WANT these pants!!! if your discontinuing these, make me deal on your old stock!!!!
    Pros:
    they fit like normal pants!
    Cons:
    your discontinuing them!!!

    Great pants for the price
    January 16, 2017
I like the material of the pants compared to other LAPG tactical pants. I did find them to be somewhat baggy in the legs. I wish the elastic in the waist was a little more stretchy. The elastic doesn't really serve a purpose. I also found that they did shrink a little with the first wash. I returned the first pair to exhange for one size longer in the legs. Overall I am happy with them.
    Pros:
    Material Price
    Cons:
    Baggy Elastic Does not stretch

Don't wear a knife in your back pocket.
    January 16, 2017
I have three pairs of these pants(coyote, sierra and charcoal). All have a hole in the back poket from wearing a knife after about two months of rotation. I carry a spyderco Manix 2 lightweight. I have cotton ripstop wranglers that are 5 years old with no hole. All of the book and loop closures are coming off. The sewing has given up. This all happened in the first couple of months and I'm not hard using this stuff. I'm a electrician at a steel mill. So I wear these to work change into a uniform, work, shower and wear these home. Now that being said these are comfortable, but order a size larger than what you wear. The size marked is with the elastic fully stretched out. I carry iwb and need to order 2 sizes larger.
    Pros:
    Great pockets. Comfortable.
    Cons:
Fabric is not very resistant to abrasion from normal wear. Hook and loop sucks, need to use buttons.

    Replacing my jeans with these
    January 15, 2017
These are some of the most comfortable pants I've had on for a while. Going to start using these instead of jeans. I'm a professional driver and these are very comfortable when sitting for long periods. For the money you can't beat them. Love the duck cotton, water does not want to soak into these pants, most of it will bead off Vs a standard cotton pant that will soak it up right away. As stated in another review, warm when cool, cool when warm. While they don't have a ton of pockets like a 5.11 covert cargo, they have enough for everyday use. Tried one pair to see if I liked, just bought three more to replace some jeans.
    Pros:
Very comfortable. Water repellant. Price point.
    Cons:
Could use a couple more pockets (internal mostly). Don't really like the deep back pockets, but that's a personal preference as I don't like having to sit on my wallet when way down inside. Have to pull it out most of the time when driving.
