Description
PLEASE NOTE: Out of stock sizes will not be available until November 2017. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The LA Police Gear Urban Recon Pants are made from 100% Cotton Duck Canvas (9.5 oz weight) fabric. This fabric has tons of uses, but as of yet has not been seen in a popular pair of tactical pants. After a thorough development process and testing phase, LAPG is proud to bring these pants to the market. During our testing, we found this fabric to be exceedingly comfortable and yet still cool and extremely tough. We are confident that if you give this pant a try, you will become a Duck Canvas fabric fan too.

Aside from the fabric, this pant features an elastic waistband, 7 pockets in total (including one slip pocket and two cargo pockets), a gusseted crotch, articulating knees, a brass tac-stud closure, and a brass locking YKK zipper. In short, we packed the pants with all the features you've come to expect from LA Police Gear pants.

Satisfaction Guarantee & Free Returns: If you aren't happy with these pants when you try them on, we will pay for you to send them back to us and we will give you a full refund on the pant! Pants must be unwashed with the original packaging and tags. Please email us at CS@LAPoliceGear.com and we will send you a return label.

Fit:
These pants have a similar fit to our LA Police Gear Urban Ops pant, which is to say that they are not quite as baggy as traditional tactical pants. These definitely aren't a skinny jean, but aren't typical "parachute" tactical pants either. Let's call it a happy medium.

    Owner's review
    October 26, 2015
This is Sean writing this review - I own LAPG. I decided to do the untraditional thing of writing a review for my own product because I like these pants so much. When I first heard the name of this fabric I immediately thought they would be uncomfortable. Boy was I wrong. This 100% cotton duck canvas is GREAT! It is more comfortable to me than poly-cotton rip-stop pants we have all been wearing for years now. I find it regulates body temperature very well. I have worn these pants in temperature ranging from 40 to 100 degrees. They feel good in all environments. They also do a lot better than poly-cottons in protecting my legs from sparks, fire, abrasions or other things that either burn holes in or rip my "rip-stop" pants. In short I LOVE THESE PANTS and they are my goto pants if they are in my closet. The fit is similar to the LAPG Urban Ops or VertX style pants. They are not too baggy and I don't have to wear a belt with them to keep them up. These pants don't look so cop-ish (shoot me first tuxedos) like other big name brands. Why did we call them Urban Recons? Shit, I don't know. Sounded good at the time. Bottom line is these are JUST GREAT PANTS for just about any activity. I can hunt, weld, hike, shoot, run a PT course, or go to dinner in these pants. I seriously have done all these things in these pants and they have felt great, looked great, and performed great. I hope you give them a try and like them as much as I do! Sean - President - LA Police Gear, Inc

    Horrible Fitting
    September 20, 2017
These are the worst fitting cargo pants I have ever ordered. Waist is true to size, but EXTREMELY baggy from thigh to ankle.

    LAPG Urban Recon Pant
    September 18, 2017
Very light weight which is great for hot days. Pretty touch considering how thin they are. Very similar to the Urban Ops Tactical pant (which is my favorite). They both fit the same as well. For me, the Urban Recon Pant legs seem to be more baggy and flappy (if that makes sense) from the knee down. Could be from the difference in material thickness but I'm not sure. I work for a commercial roof consultant and door inspections and minor repairs. I'm up and down ladders, on my knees quite often on different type of roof terrain. Just to give you an idea of what i put my pants through. I'm not mountain climbing or running the barb wire all day but im not just walking through the park either.
    Pros:
    Light weight/ Thin Durable/ Tough
    Cons:
pant legs from the knee down feel like extra wide boot cut

    The sizes are spot on
    September 17, 2017
The sizes are spot on, contoured to the body great looking pants.
    Pros:
Great pants for the price. The crotch and seat of the pants are non-binding, but good looking, no puckering, nice seams. Water resistant nice for when a waitress spills water on you. Not bad in the AZ heat, breathable fabric.
    Cons:
No mag pockets inside the cargo pockets on the sides.

    Almost great
    September 14, 2017
Really really good. Comfortable cut and material. Love the slant cut on the hand pockets. Love that the phone pocket actually fits my iPhone 6S+. That said, the cargo pockets are oddly small. Seriously, they're too small. The back pockets are a good size but set oddly low. Still, for the money I love these pants and will buy more (already have two pairs)
    Pros:
    Comfy Look good Price point
    Cons:
    Pocket design needs some work

    My favorite pants
    August 12, 2017
I'm between sizes, so ordered the size up. Fit perfect. Remember, they say 100% cotton! So plan for some shrinkage if you use a hot drier. I'll be getting another pair of these in another color.
    Pros:
    Comfortable, utilitarian, Mobile
    Cons:
    None yet

High Quality Pant for low price
    August 10, 2017
I ordered 2 pair of these and a fleece on closeout for my first order. I needed some pants that would stand up to some abuse, be comfortable in the summer and be affordable. While I haven't got to wear them out (just received them today) I can say I am shocked and thrilled. While I wear 29"x29" I ordered the 30"x30" as it was the closest I could get and the fit seemed longer than 30" and decently baggy. However I'm used to shrinking clothes so a hot wash and high heat dry put them right where I needed them for being 5'6". Constructed very well and extremely comfortable. While they are not a low bid style pant, I feel they do "blend in" better than some other brands out there. I look forward to putting these through the ringer and seeing just how far the $40 for 2 pair will take me. If they hold together long enough I will be ordering more along with some urban ops for the cooler months. My biggest complaint is shipping. Shipping cost was almost $11 dollars for 3 items and took awhile to be shipped. If there's anywhere that could be improved it would be either make shipping faster for the cost or cheaper for the wait. Make sure to plan ahead and order early enough or shipping will kill any sort of discount available.
    Pros:
Construction Comfort Higher Quality than price
    Cons:
Shipping cost is a bit much per weight unless you earn free shipping. Colors seem a bit off compared to the pictures but not too bad

    Please use better velcro!
    August 9, 2017
Love these pants, I have 7 pairs now. The cotton duck fabric is much better than any rip-stop nylon for comfortable every day wear. My biggest complaint is the cheap Velcro being placed on the cargo pockets. The hook side is holding up well but the loops are all but completely torn away. Now I am losing items from the cargo pockets when I sit.. Not what you want from the pockets I carry phones and wallets in..
    Pros:
    Great design and fabric
    Cons:
    Cheap Velcro closures

    great pants
    July 15, 2017
let me start by saying that the charcoal color should just be called black. That being said, they are very great and functional pants. Lightweight, durable, comfortable, tons of pockets. great range of movement in the pants. Very stylish.

Initially great pants, but they clearly changed!
    July 11, 2017
I purchased these pants over a year ago, and they were literally the best pants I've trained with. I've beat them up, and they handled the torture. I'm a firearms instructor, and have been doing Search & Rescue for many years, and I truly abuse my gear. I thought I found a pair of pants I wanted to buy 10 pairs of. My whole search team was interested in getting some until my 2nd order. I made my 2nd order about 3 months ago, for 3 pair. 2 for my wife, and 1 for me. Once we got them we were both immediately disappointed. They were HUGE! They were the same size and pants that I ordered a year ago, but this time they were totally different, from the way they fit, to the extreme bagginess in the thighs. EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality control thats going on. I've been shopping on this site for many years, and this is the first time I was so disappointed I was compelled to actually write a review.
    Pros:
Durability Fit Looks Perfect amount of pockets and space
    Cons:
Everything about whatever changes they've done to them in the last year.

    Terrible Fit
    July 9, 2017
The pant material seems durable and I was able to move freely, however, these have to be the worst fitting pair of tactical / duty pants I've ever purchased! I was extremely disappointed. They were very baggy in the thigh and the opening at the leg was very wide. They were also rather long. Needless to say, unless I pay to get them altered, they'll be pretty useless for work. Better luck next time.

Amazing for the price. Really, any price.

Here in AZ, good pants are hard to find- Synthetic fabrics sweat too much, and retain heat when wet. Great for northern states, but not for the high desert. The cotton duck these pants are made of breathe amazingly. I've been buying multiple pairs every time I have spare cash. They've become my normal daily wear pants. They don't look too tactical, and the range of pockets really make my EDC accessible. The AR mag pocket also easily swallows a good sized phone... Or an AR mag when on the range. All in all, a great deal for great pants.
    Pros:
Comfortable, breathe well, sized properly, many pockets.
    Cons:
cotton duck isn't as tear resistant as ripstop, but tears don't grow past the initial hole.

Good fit and quality, poor Velcro
    June 9, 2017
Fit is slimmer than the LAPG Op Tac pants I had before these. At first I didn't like them due to the tighter fit and slightly more restricted movement. After wearing them a while though, I've come to appreciate the slimmer fit and less tactical look from the smaller cargo pockets. The duck fabric is very comfortable and feels nicer against the skin than ripstop. The cargo pockets are smaller but I still very what I need. I wish it had 2 front phone pockets and D-rings like the OP pants. They do shrunk a bit in length, as did my Op pants, but not as bad as my Op pants. They fit great still. After about 9 months, all 4 of my Op pants have near useless Velcro. I'm starting to see that with these Urban Recon pants also. Unfortunately, LAPG uses the same low quality Velcro which wears out quickly. The only reason these have lasted longer (I've had them over a year now) is because I don't wear these as often as my Op pants. Overall I love these pants, but wish LAPG would improve the cheap Velcro they use.
    Pros:
Great fit Comfortable Great fabric Less tactical looking
    Cons:
Low quality Velcro, wears out quickly Length shrinkage No D-rings

    Replaced my jeans!
    June 8, 2017
Initially bought these for working it. I use two other versions that I enjoy, figured there wouldn't hurt to have also. Well, I can't use them for work, they don't stay as neat as the ripstop styles. However, I do use these instead of jeans now! I've hiked and camped in them, repaired my car several times and just throw them on when running around. I get them dirty! I just throw them in the wash and Poof, almost like new regardless of the amount of mud or grease on them!
    Pros:
    Tough fabric Cleans up nicely
    Cons:
Shrinkage - buy 1 size larger Wrinkles slightly
