Description
PLEASE NOTE: Out of stock sizes will not be available until November 2017. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The LA Police Gear Urban Recon Pants are made from 100% Cotton Duck Canvas (9.5 oz weight) fabric. This fabric has tons of uses, but as of yet has not been seen in a popular pair of tactical pants. After a thorough development process and testing phase, LAPG is proud to bring these pants to the market. During our testing, we found this fabric to be exceedingly comfortable and yet still cool and extremely tough. We are confident that if you give this pant a try, you will become a Duck Canvas fabric fan too.

Aside from the fabric, this pant features an elastic waistband, 7 pockets in total (including one slip pocket and two cargo pockets), a gusseted crotch, articulating knees, a brass tac-stud closure, and a brass locking YKK zipper. In short, we packed the pants with all the features you've come to expect from LA Police Gear pants.

Satisfaction Guarantee & Free Returns: If you aren't happy with these pants when you try them on, we will pay for you to send them back to us and we will give you a full refund on the pant! Pants must be unwashed with the original packaging and tags. Please email us at CS@LAPoliceGear.com and we will send you a return label.

Fit:
These pants have a similar fit to our LA Police Gear Urban Ops pant, which is to say that they are not quite as baggy as traditional tactical pants. These definitely aren't a skinny jean, but aren't typical "parachute" tactical pants either. Let's call it a happy medium.

    Owner's review
    October 26, 2015
This is Sean writing this review - I own LAPG. I decided to do the untraditional thing of writing a review for my own product because I like these pants so much. When I first heard the name of this fabric I immediately thought they would be uncomfortable. Boy was I wrong. This 100% cotton duck canvas is GREAT! It is more comfortable to me than poly-cotton rip-stop pants we have all been wearing for years now. I find it regulates body temperature very well. I have worn these pants in temperature ranging from 40 to 100 degrees. They feel good in all environments. They also do a lot better than poly-cottons in protecting my legs from sparks, fire, abrasions or other things that either burn holes in or rip my "rip-stop" pants. In short I LOVE THESE PANTS and they are my goto pants if they are in my closet. The fit is similar to the LAPG Urban Ops or VertX style pants. They are not too baggy and I don't have to wear a belt with them to keep them up. These pants don't look so cop-ish (shoot me first tuxedos) like other big name brands. Why did we call them Urban Recons? Shit, I don't know. Sounded good at the time. Bottom line is these are JUST GREAT PANTS for just about any activity. I can hunt, weld, hike, shoot, run a PT course, or go to dinner in these pants. I seriously have done all these things in these pants and they have felt great, looked great, and performed great. I hope you give them a try and like them as much as I do! Sean - President - LA Police Gear, Inc

    great pants
    July 15, 2017
let me start by saying that the charcoal color should just be called black. That being said, they are very great and functional pants. Lightweight, durable, comfortable, tons of pockets. great range of movement in the pants. Very stylish.

Initially great pants, but they clearly changed!
    July 11, 2017
I purchased these pants over a year ago, and they were literally the best pants I've trained with. I've beat them up, and they handled the torture. I'm a firearms instructor, and have been doing Search & Rescue for many years, and I truly abuse my gear. I thought I found a pair of pants I wanted to buy 10 pairs of. My whole search team was interested in getting some until my 2nd order. I made my 2nd order about 3 months ago, for 3 pair. 2 for my wife, and 1 for me. Once we got them we were both immediately disappointed. They were HUGE! They were the same size and pants that I ordered a year ago, but this time they were totally different, from the way they fit, to the extreme bagginess in the thighs. EXTREMELY disappointed in the quality control thats going on. I've been shopping on this site for many years, and this is the first time I was so disappointed I was compelled to actually write a review.
    Pros:
Durability Fit Looks Perfect amount of pockets and space
    Cons:
Everything about whatever changes they've done to them in the last year.

    Terrible Fit
    July 9, 2017
The pant material seems durable and I was able to move freely, however, these have to be the worst fitting pair of tactical / duty pants I've ever purchased! I was extremely disappointed. They were very baggy in the thigh and the opening at the leg was very wide. They were also rather long. Needless to say, unless I pay to get them altered, they'll be pretty useless for work. Better luck next time.

Amazing for the price. Really, any price.

Here in AZ, good pants are hard to find- Synthetic fabrics sweat too much, and retain heat when wet. Great for northern states, but not for the high desert. The cotton duck these pants are made of breathe amazingly. I've been buying multiple pairs every time I have spare cash. They've become my normal daily wear pants. They don't look too tactical, and the range of pockets really make my EDC accessible. The AR mag pocket also easily swallows a good sized phone... Or an AR mag when on the range. All in all, a great deal for great pants.
    Pros:
Comfortable, breathe well, sized properly, many pockets.
    Cons:
cotton duck isn't as tear resistant as ripstop, but tears don't grow past the initial hole.

Good fit and quality, poor Velcro
    June 9, 2017
Fit is slimmer than the LAPG Op Tac pants I had before these. At first I didn't like them due to the tighter fit and slightly more restricted movement. After wearing them a while though, I've come to appreciate the slimmer fit and less tactical look from the smaller cargo pockets. The duck fabric is very comfortable and feels nicer against the skin than ripstop. The cargo pockets are smaller but I still very what I need. I wish it had 2 front phone pockets and D-rings like the OP pants. They do shrunk a bit in length, as did my Op pants, but not as bad as my Op pants. They fit great still. After about 9 months, all 4 of my Op pants have near useless Velcro. I'm starting to see that with these Urban Recon pants also. Unfortunately, LAPG uses the same low quality Velcro which wears out quickly. The only reason these have lasted longer (I've had them over a year now) is because I don't wear these as often as my Op pants. Overall I love these pants, but wish LAPG would improve the cheap Velcro they use.
    Pros:
Great fit Comfortable Great fabric Less tactical looking
    Cons:
Low quality Velcro, wears out quickly Length shrinkage No D-rings

    Replaced my jeans!
    June 8, 2017
Initially bought these for working it. I use two other versions that I enjoy, figured there wouldn't hurt to have also. Well, I can't use them for work, they don't stay as neat as the ripstop styles. However, I do use these instead of jeans now! I've hiked and camped in them, repaired my car several times and just throw them on when running around. I get them dirty! I just throw them in the wash and Poof, almost like new regardless of the amount of mud or grease on them!
    Pros:
    Tough fabric Cleans up nicely
    Cons:
Shrinkage - buy 1 size larger Wrinkles slightly

    Great Pant
    June 7, 2017
Excellent pant for the price. I am 6'7" and the 36 inseam works great. 3 days on the range, up/down, kneeling on gravel, squatting, they functioned great. Ease of movement was not restricted at all.
    Pros:
Ease of movement Great durability Excellent Pricing and range of sizes.
    Cons:
They will shrink if dried in dryer. Hang dry.

    Good Value
    June 7, 2017
So it been a year now since I bought my first pair of these and I am satisfied with them. I had 4 pairs and in the last month they have slowly been dying. I wear the pants at least twice a week and they have help up well to sharp objects trying to shred my pants. My complaints are that the two Coyote brown pairs shrank to the point where it was hard to wear them. I had the OD and Sierra colors and they have maintained the waist size. The button on three of my four pairs also broke, one button broke after the first day to work, but walmart buttons are a good replacement. I think these pants are a better buy than the original operator pants, if you are doing more than walking around. I wish the front slip was a little deeper and the Velcro on the cargo pockets isnt that great either. Also if you are looking for a larger cargo pocket these don't have it, the cargo pockets run on the small side. I've had a great experience with these pants overall and I am going to buy more.
    Pros:
Good value Better than rip stop
    Cons:
Button is cheap Zipper has room to improve Coyote Brown pants ran small

    Really comfortable pants! But...
    June 1, 2017
The Good: I've been wearing these for about 2 months now and they are really comfortable. I ended up replacing my work jeans for these. I work in construction (electrician,) so I need 100% cotton clothing. You can immediately tell the difference how much better these feel in hot temperatures compared to jeans. The Bad: As for the size and fit these run big. (At least for me anyways.) I'm 5'4" and 140lbs. (not a big guy) so I got 32x30. And man were these huge on me, length-wise. So I washed them in hopes of shrinkage like so many reviews have stated. After washing them in hot water they did shrink and fit me the way I wanted them to from the get go. So if you're a tall guy I would go up in size. They do fade after the first wash and gradually still does even in cold water and no dryer. So I can't really tell how long they will last. Even with all the negatives I would still recommend these pants. They are just that comfortable!
    Pros:
Really comfortable in all temperatures! Gusseted crotch, roomy pockets.
    Cons:
Run big, shrinkage, and fades after every wash.

    Wash it
    May 24, 2017
I bought these pants for work. They came in a little long in the leg. Once you wash/dry them, they fit perfect. The pocket in the front fits my iphone 6plus perfectly. I'm going to buy more of these pants.
    Pros:
    Great price and product.
    Cons:
    none

    Awesome Pants
    May 21, 2017
When I tried them on when I got them they were a perfect fit to my length and waist size. I love how the cargo pockets are flush to the pants and not bulky looking at all.
    Pros:
Cargo pockets are flush to the side, front pockets are deep . and the front pocket on the left side fits my cell phone perfectly
    Cons:
Wish the back pockets were able to close but will get used to them

    Nice pants for the money.
    May 16, 2017
Nice pants for the bucks that is for sure. Not pocketed the way you may want for work or rough play. Also think about going up on the waist size by one. If you wash them they tend to shrink a bit. And I miss the mag pouches in the cargo pocket that other pants have. But these are a lot cheaper though.
    Pros:
    Price, good color selection.
    Cons:
    May shrink a bit.

    Colors not as pictured
    April 22, 2017
The pants are great, I use them for my construction job but I also wear them in the woods while I'm hiking or bush crafting. They are very comfortable, although they are a little more baggy than I expected but I think this is what makes them so comfortable. They fit true to size and the elastic waist band is nice. The color though is not what I expected, the slate brown color looks grey brown in the picture but they are actually a light grey. Same with the sierra color, I thought I was getting brown like in the picture pants but I get a ugly dark grey. But I'm not returning them for a different color because it's not that big of a deal to me. Next time I'll buy the od green, that has to be true to color lol.
    Pros:
    Very comfortable, feel well made.
    Cons:
Baggier than I expected, colors are not the same as in the picture

Wanted to love them, but was disappointed
    April 20, 2017
I bought a pair of these a little over a year ago. They never get worn anymore. First off, they shrunk vertically after the first couple washes. I mean, it was significant, they are basically floods now; socks show when I am in a normal standing position. Secondly, the top button fell apart around the nine-month mark (the waist is not even very snug). Normally I would think that I ordered a size too small, but I bought the same size I wear all of my pants in, and none of them have shrunk or had hardware failures like this. I didn't even wear them very hard either. I wanted to like these pants, but I am disappointed that I can't wear them after less than a year under light use. I would order another pair again if I could and order one size longer and maybe hem them if I need to, and just hope the top button thing was a fluke.
    Pros:
Low-profile side pockets - it doesn't scream "tactical" Wide range of colors
    Cons:
Shrinks a ton Hardware failures (maybe just a fluke on my pair) Colors fade quickly
