    Almost perfect

I have to say, once again LAPG hits the nail on the head when it comes to giving you a fantastic product at an amazing cost. But as with anything else, these have both their pros and cons.

    Pros:

*GIANT pockets, as you've seen before if you've ever bought LAPG tactical pants, you know the cargo pockets are absolutely enormous and you can pretty much carry everything but the kitchen sink in them.
*Lower leg pockets are both large as well as discreet. I wear these all the time at work, and I am also a smoker. I usually keep a pack of cigarettes and a lighter in one of them, the pocket is big enough as to not print the pack, but small and discreet enough to where people probably won't even notice it's there.
*Extra padding where you need it. I practice tactical drills all the time with both pistol and rifle, so that means a lot of running and diving for cover on what is sometimes less than forgiving terrain. The extra padding on the seat and knees has yet to fail me despite the heavy use and abuse. I would also like to note the extra layers in the knees are quite large and cover a significant portion of the mid-leg.
*D-Rings are all in the same place as seen in other LAPG tactical pants models. For those who don't know, they are on the front two belt loops as well as in each of the cargo pockets. The cargo pockets keep my keys in place and quiet, and I use one of the ones on the belt loops to hold my badge (I think it looks more tactical and a little sharper to be hanging from a d-ring rather than simply clipped on my belt, I keep my badge on a standard leather belt clip, which fits the ring PERFECTLY and I have absolute faith it won't come loose.
*Belt loops have changed in this model from their standard tactical pants. They are no longer the flimsy 1/4 inch piece of nothing you could find on anything mil-spec but are actually a lot wider and similar to the loops you would find on a pair of 5.11 tactical pants.
*The tactical pockets on the front of the legs are just as good as always and they are the same size as previous LAPG tactical pants models. Very discreet and perfect size for carrying smaller items (pocket note pad, pens, credit card, ID, cell phone, etc)

    Cons:

*My number one con with these pants would be the stitching in the extra pockets hidden in the cargo pockets. I carry a backup gun (Kel-Tec PF9 fits the larger pocket like a glove) in the larger interior pocket every day. I've noticed over time, the stitching has worn down and what was the most useful new addition to the tactical pants is now simply a flapping piece of fabric in my cargo pocket. The stitching on the hook side velcro is also wearing down faster than I would like to admit.
*I will agree with 85% of the gripes in the review section here and say the zipper is not much to speak of being made of plastic as opposed to metal, but I don't think it's as bad as you are all making it out to be. My gripe with it is simply that it "feels" cheap, however I have no complaints about its performance.
*I am still waiting for LAPG to integrate the second fastener into their pants like you see in 5.11 as well as PROPPER, both of which have a button/snap combination that works out famously.
*Sizing runs a little small in the waist, but this an issue resolved simply by ordering a size up.

    THE BOTTOM LINE

These pants are a fantastic quality for the money no matter what. They have some minor hangups as a lot of products do, but I believe LAPG will take strides to correct these issues with their next model of tactical pants.

For the price these are hard to beat. Length is spot on but waist seems to run just a bit small and the elastic waist band does not expand very much so keep that in mind when ordering. The material is just about the right weight - not as heavy as some but not as light and cheap as many. Because the blend is more cotton than poly they tend to pull up just a touch after washing but they also become softer and more flexible. Hard to believe LAPG can sell these quality pants at such a cheap price. For me the fit is not perfect as they sag a bit in the crotch but hey I'm not wearing them for a fashion statement! The extra room in the seat is appreciated when needed. Pockets are large, well placed and well thought out for organization. For me there's no need to wear a utility belt anymore as I can get all my gear in the pockets. My only gripe is the rear pockets. They secure with 2 buttons instead of velcro or snaps. A little hard to get into and secure but just a small issue. These are very popular (for good reason) so get 'em when they have your size in stock 'cause they sell out often!
    Bad Zippers

    May 09, 2013

I purchased two pair of these and both had bad zippers. The zippers just wouldn't stay up on either pair. I tried the key ring over the button trick for a while, but the zipper on one pair finally broke entirely. I have since had both zippers replaced and it cost me almost as much as the pants did originally. I love the pants other than that and hope that this issue gets resolved.

Gals and Guys, I have been on tactical teams for the past twenty four (24) years! I have worn all matter of uniforms, from "boots and uts" to todays BIG name gear. These are the highest quality pants, bar none! I have them in several colors but wear the Navy Blue daily! I highly recommend these! I recomend them over Brand-X and Brand-Y! Additionally with a cover garment, they blend in to off-duty wear just like cargo pants from todays top fashion lines.

Love these pants, especially the cargo pocket dividers. The only drawback is the zipper fly which tends to migrate south on its own. I've got 5 pair and two have bad zippers.

    Better then BDU's
    Caseyville IL
    April 25, 2013

Use to wear BDU's. I switched to this style because of the pockets. With cell phone, note pad, pens, flashlight, keys, knife you run out of pockets with BDU's. With these pants, I can carry more items and not have it all jammed together in two leg cargo pockets. I do agree you need to buy a size bigger. No issues with the zipper yet. Great buy, good deal.

I really like the pants but there is a issue of the sizing, I bought the right size there way to tight for the size and there was not much stretch in the elastic. Other then that the pants are awesome!
    Zipper Issue
    TX
    April 24, 2013

I like the pants a lot, but the plastic zippers don't stay up, I have bought 6 pair so far and 4 have zipper problems. For some reason the zippers keep riding down on me. I've had to take a key ring and attach it to the zipper and hang it over the button before buttoning up the pants. Also size is a little small, get a size bigger if you're pushing the size limit. But all in all they are comfortable and I love the pockets. The only thing I would change about these is the zipper or go to a button fly.

    April 22, 2013

I like them for the price but they are a bit scratchy and maybe not quite as baggy as Woolrich or 5.11 but still too baggy for my taste - unless you're into that ever stylish 'diaper full' look.

    April 18, 2013

These pants are great! Im on a local Search and Rescue team and I wear these pants as part of my uniform. They are styled like the ACU army pants and they don't look militant on the street. There are a few cons with them as well. The quality is not up to standard as the ACU or 5.11 pants. The lower leg pockets do not work well if you are blousing your pants into your boots. And in my opinion the frontal thigh pockets are a little to wide for a cell phone or a spare magazine so the item tilts inside and is hard to exstract the item. Overall I would recomend these pants to anyone with an outdoor style. They may not last as long as the other brands but for the price you cant beat them.

    April 04, 2013

all i got to say is wow. I ordered these pants in hopes they were what people were saying.

These are the most comfortable pants ive ever wore in a very long time.

I would 100% recommend buying a bigger size. i take a 40 in jeans and got these in a 42. a little bit of slack in the wist, but its prefect. not to tight and not too loose.

I love all the pockets for storage. I carry a flashlight, knife, multitool, wallet and iPhone 4 everyday and the way the pockets are laid out its a good fit.

I bought three of these pants for uniform wear. They are so comfortable, i wear them around the house like pajamas. I love the front top pockets too, great for cell phones and such. But definitely get a size bigger than your normal waist size. I wear 30 and the 32 fit perfectly.

    March 26, 2013

I just got 3 pairs of these on the closeout deal.

I almost always take a 32x32 in any pants so that's what I ordered. I see what some people say about considering going up a size. I might get a few more pairs in a size up - it'd be a no brainer if they came in odd sizes (33-35-37 waist etc). That or make sure I don't gain any more inches around the belly ;-)

I haven't had a chance to give them a field test, but so far I really like them! -I tested the front "phone" pockets with an otterbox equipped iphone and it is a great design. I even tried bending down on one knee to see if it binds into my hip - it doesn't. very good. Pretty easy to retrieve the phone in these pants, unlike trying to wrestle it out of other clothes like leather jackets or jeans where the otterbox gets all sticky on them.

From what I can gather, these are basically the same quality pants as the LA Police Gear RipStop Mil-Spec BDU Pants - of which I bought a pair 3 months ago and really like those too.

I wasn't sure about the side tab adjustments on the other pants as a superior design, but now after wearing both, I see that it is the better way to go than elastic.
Two drawbacks for elastic in my book - one, is it tends to fail over time and loose its elasticity and two, it reminds me of fat guy pants.

I hope that LAPG is going to bring these pants back with side tabs instead of elastic and keep all the extra pockets - that would be perfect!

As far as button verses zipper fly, well, I'm cool with either one. It's like stick or automatic?
For those who complain about the button flys - hey, they are waaaay easier to fix yourself unless you are a tailor or seamstress. If you are about to wet yourself, maybe you shouldn't wait so long to go pee :-D

I've bought fives pants (the price is so small) for a SSO formation in Houston. The size is good for me and the quality is here. Tested in a swiming pool for make a life of fortune, it's ok but better if the tissu was denser. I think the elastic at the ankles would be better. no hesitation !

    March 07, 2013

I bought a pair of these pants late last year and I gotta say that they're freaking amazing! Amazing value for the price!
I just have one small issue... you see, when I was in the military, I learned to go 'commando' style on two occasions: in the field and at the bar. Both to facilitate peeing quickly and easily.
Now, I havent had occasion to wear these pants in the field, but I imagine they'd hold up just fine. It's my outings at the local beer dispensary that have caused me some pain.
Without boxers, the zipper tends to catch the flesh of my little dude; quite painful indeed.
It happens probably once every three visits to the urination station... just something to be aware of if you like to freeball in the bars.

I just received a pair of these in kaki color yesterday and am very impressed with the look and fit of these pants. Lots of pockets and very comfortable. Very roomy also I have a 36 waist and bought a pair of 38x30's and have lots or room without them being to baggy. I have purchased other brands for work but I am very pleased with these as an everyday pair to do what ever. I mostly bought these to wear while training and am excited to see how these hold up. I pretty sure I won't be disappointed. For the price vs quality it's a good buy. I'll be looking at buying another pair in the future.

I ordered these pants after a friend recommended them to me, I have a pair of 5.11 pants that I rarely ever wear now that I have my LAPG pants. The front cell phone pocket will hold an iPhone with an otterbox on it, where as the 5.11 pants will not. I did order 1 size bigger than what I normally wear, and they fit me perfect! Thanks LAPG!
Great pants with lots of storage
    Tx
    February 22, 2013

The family and I picked up 4 pairs of the regular and 3 pairs of the lower leg pocket pants. Size is accurate but you have to consider that the elastic stretched out to the max is the size of the pants. If you want some extra room for IWB order up. I wear a 36x32 but went with the 38x32 for IWB. Fits perfect with or without the weapon due to the elastic. The Mrs. followed suite and also agrees with the next size up for IWB carry.

Cargo pocket organizer is nice - keeps my flashlight in place without rolling or laying down odd when sitting. D-Ring in pockets keeps keys handy. Carrying a Ruger LCR in the cargo pocket is easy with plenty of room for easy draw. I have found the organizer also allows for easy and comfortable spare magazine carry. These pockets are deep - I can easily carry extra pistol mags, a light, wallet, keys, and as mentioned above a Ruger LCR.

Regardless of which ones you pick up (regular or with lower pockets) these are great pants. Happy with the purchase feel that they are worth every penny spent.

Side note - I like the cell phone pockets in front. At first I was resistant to using them but now I can not imagine not having the pocket there. Drops the phone low enough to not need a button or flap but not too deep to struggle to fish the phone out.

    February 13, 2013

I'm a fire safety director for NYC and needed new work pants for my job. I usually go with the 5.11 brand until I stumbled upon these pants on here. Not only are they around half the price of any 5.11 brand pant, I prefer the pocket arrangement in these LA Police Gear pants. The front slit pockets are a lot larger and deeper than the 5.11 slit pocket, and there are 2 of them with also two D rings. As soon as I tried these on I fell in love and will definately be buying more in the future. Even though there was issues with shipping in the warhouse, after a few calls with customer service, they made everything right and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. LA Police gear earned a new loyal customer!

    January 23, 2013

For their price these pants are a decent buy.
Their overall design with all the pockets are excellent!
I would love to have a pair of these pants with a heavier stitching, reinforced knees and butt.
These are a GREAT RANGE pant due to the extra pockets that can carry a 30 rnd mag quite well.

D rings are platic and will not hold a lot of weight.

Waste snap is lightweight and will easily come unsnapped. A button and zipper or snap with Velcro flap would be much better.

Again.. YOu get what you pay for!

These pants will NOT hold up to heavy use, they will tear/rip easier than other, more expensive pants.

Not a bad summer pant. They are light in weight and fairly thin.

I do recommend these pants mostly due to the price and their oveall design.

I am on my second year of wearing these pants for work as a paramedic. I have recently purchased my second set of three pairs. I love all the pockets, and pockets inside of pockets. Every single pocket has a use for me and the construction of these pants is very solid. Zippers, Velcro, double seems, double layers where needed, all very durable for the price.
I have become so accustomed to these pants I recently had to change into extra uniform at work due to getting blood on the ones I was wearing, my backup pair was an older pair of much more expensive pants that were only slightly faded. I couldn't stand them I immediately washed dried and changed back! Then ordered a few more pairs!

These pants are great for a multitude of applications. I particularly like them for air travel. When seated in a Coach Class airline seat there are times when the only pockets available and within easy reach are the lower leg pockets. Easy access to iPod, cell phone, even a great place for a wallet. Only issue I have is with the elastic waist. There was an earlier version of these pants that had a velcro cinch tab sililar to a pair of BDUs. Much better fit. With this elastic style, the quality of the pants themselves out last the life of the elastic. After a dozen or so washings the waist becomes stretched out. That is the reason for the 4 stars. Bring back the older version (as an option) and they get the 5

I recently wore these during a trip out to Lost Maples. We hiked ~11 miles in the hills and camped out overnight. The pants held up well; they are made out of a good sturdy material that didn't snag at all. All the pockets were great for distributing items around and the top opening slit in the cargo pockets was great for holding a flashlight. The internal dividers kept everything from knocking into each other or bouncing around. The calf pockets are a plus. They are decent sized and well located. I carried my first aid kit in one comfortably. The weather ranged from the low 60s to mid 70s and the pants were comfortable throughout. The only downside to the pants was that the cargo pocket weight wasn't well carried by the pants. It pulled them tight in a line along the top of the pocket.

Excellent pants. Having to always modify my 511 cargo pockets with D rings it's nice to already be there. Works great with my Maxpedition Tactical Gear Retractor.I prefer the front D rings were closer to the hand pockets but the belt loop is good position for S or caribiner. These pants are about 1/2 the weight of the 511. Sizing is very good. The sierra color very close to olive drab, we kept them because the return shipping from Florida to California and back would have been the cost of the pants. Remember to clean out leg pockets before washing. I will be looking for the shorts early next year. 4.9 stars

I have worn these downrange during two AFG tours, and still wear them for working around my property. Comfortable, quick-drying, and inexpensive.

Great pants! I have worn them every day for a couple years now. The get 3 stars only because the zipper is horrible. Out of 10 + pair i have NONE, including the pair that is just a month old have a functional zipper.

These are a really great item, they're holding up better than other brands that cost twice as much. Worth every cent.

I have been wearing these pants for a while now and love them so much I bought several more pairs. They are light wight, extremely durable and have 10 pockets. If you run out of places to put things in these pants you should probably be carrying an assault pack. I prefer these over 5.11 and Blackhawk anyday and at half the price of those brands you cant beat them.

    The best tactical pant value
    Around the world

I have been wearing these pants for over a year, and I can honestly say they are the best tactical style pants I have ever owned. I really abuse my pants. I install and work on large satellite antennas around the world, so I am constantly climbing, kneeling, and crawling around. I rely on my gear to hold up. The only reason that I found them is because I was pissed off over the price and quality of the very popular "numbered" brand of tactical pants I wore. The quality of the LAPG operator pants is superior, the design and features are superior, and at half the price. Here are a few pros and cons about the LAPG operator pants:

    Pros:

    1)quality

2)overall design - these are so well thought out, one of my favorite features is buttoned back pockets instead of velcro.

3)They do not seem to fade out as quickly as others

4)slanted and leg pockets. Great when you are travelling

Cons - I am really stretching to find anything wrong:

    1) lots of loose threads that need to be trimmed (lol, big deal)

    2) LAPG tends to run out of them and they go on backorder. (I really want to buy some of the shorts, but they are backordered! )

    3) multicam would be cool (now I am just making $h17 up)

I could go on and on about the pros. The bottom line is: If you need tactical style pants and you don't try at least on pair of LAPG operator pants, you are just screwing yourself.
Question: How much bigger does the elastic waist stretch. For example---does a 32'' waist stretch to 33'', 34'', etc?
Answer: These pants measure at the listed size when the elastic is fully stretched out. You should order one waist size larger than you usually wear.

Question: I have a couple different versions of your great cargo pants. Seems the older version, which had the wide back pockets that dipped way down to connect with front pockets, also had a wide cargo pocket. This was great, as it fits an iPad! Does the new style fit an iPad in the cargo pocket? Thanks!
Answer: The cargo pocket will not fit a full sized iPad, but it will fit an iPad Mini if desired.

Question: Are these pants at all flame retardant for tactical operations involving flash diversionary devices? I see they are 60 cotton 40 polyester. Have they been tested at alll?
Answer: These Operator Pants have not been tested for flame resistance, so we are unaware to what extent, if any, they are flame resistance.

Question: What color is "Sierra"? No pics. Looking for color closest to brown (Sheriff's brown) - thanks
Answer: If you view this page, you will see a good representation of what the Sierra color looks like: http://www.lapolicegear.com/tac1-lapg-bo1003ewb.html

Question: If I purchased two pair of two different waist sizes to try ? If I fit in a 30X32 or a 32X32, can I return the item that does not fit, and buy two to three more pair of the size that does fit? I wear 30X32 in the 511 taclite brand.
Answer: Yes, if you purchase a size that does not fit, you can exchange them for a size that does.

Question: Will there be a MultiCam option available? If not why?
Answer: We have thought about making these pants in a Multicam pattern, but not in the near future. We have not made them yet because the demand for these pants in Multicam is not very high.
