I bought this to use as my daily duty bag. Works well has more size than I need. My only complaint is that the zippers are very stiff. Not sure if they will have a long life. It can make it difficult to unzip in a hurry. Besides that its great. I would buy one again.

I bought this bag to use as a 3 day bag for my disaster relief work. I haven't had to use it since I got it a few weeks ago, but I love the bag. It's nice and roomy and comfortable to wear. It holds all I need for 3 days in the field.

Im in the Army and Ive had this bag for over a year now living in the desert (vegas) and now in a forest area (WA) Ive taken this bag all over the place, hiking, biking, the gym, shooting at the range and outdoors, riding my harley, and putting my work gear in it. Its tough, has a good amount of room, he zippers are high quality, and is way cheaper than very similar blackhawk bags. Ive never has any problems with the bag. For 30 bucks you seriously cant go wrong but now I really want the LAPG operator bag!

So when I received my bag I did not expect it to be made of thick material. The material is nice and sturdy, the whole bag is well sewn together. The zippers that people are complaining about, well that problem is very easy to fix. All you do is fold the fabric "lip" back and it opens like any other zipper bag. I like the storage space available in the bag and I love the straps it is very comfortable.
    April 14, 2013

Bought this for a range bag. Something I could leave packed and just grab on my way out. However, I have used this bag a few times our in the desert while hunting and it it great for the price. Fabric seems really tough. The zippers are a little rough but I like that. If they are a little hard to open by hand, I know they won't open on their own whilst trouncing around the southwest.

I love this backpack. It is the best one that I have found for the price and size. I am on a Search and Rescue team for Civil Air Patrol and I am able to fit all of my gear plus some into this pack. I looked everywhere for a pack this size but most cost around $50. I found this one and I love it. Thank LA Police Gear!

Using this bag to carry my ancillary flight gear when I"m in the Bird. I would not rely on this pack for field missions, but for a garrison bag it works very well. For the price its a great bag.

    April 06, 2013

Bought this for a gym bag for my wife. The zipper pulls are a little catchy but works fine for what it's doing. I have a second black one I used to carry all my crap for EMT around. That was 38 lbs of stuff for 4 months. Same zipper experience but great for the money.

    April 05, 2013

I saw these on sale and picked up 2 for myself and one for my mom. I already have one bag in this style from Blackhawk. Visually and size wise they are identical. The differences down the line are as follows:
Lower quality zippers (but still tough on the LAPG)
No padded belt strap and no MOLLE on the belt.
Shoulder straps not quite as padded but still comfortable.
No ports for hydration on LAPG.
    No breathable backing on LAPG.

That said, these are still awesome backpacks and I would recommend them to anyone. For the sale price of 30 bucks compared to $170 for the Blackhawk I'm very pleased with the quality.

These look to be just as heavy duty and have the same capacity as the Blackhawk. I haven't had a chance to really give them a hard test but they are built well and I think they'd hold up just as well as my Blackhawk.

For the price you pay, you cannot beat this pack. Period. I bought the coyote tan version which seems to be as solid as any pack I have ever bought. I wanted something that will get me though nursing school (LOTS of HEAVY text books - all day, every day) and to use in the field hiking/camping. I did replaced the zipper pulls with some paracord. Other than that, as long as you treat it well, it looks and feels like it will go for a couple of years. I may even use it as my Search & Rescue pack when I graduate.

    March 19, 2013

This pack is actually pretty high quality. I own/owned packs by every hot-shit tactical company out there, and this bag holds it own. I got it in the mail Thursday, used it for a day hike on Friday, an all-nighter at REI Friday night, and then again for another romp through the woods on Saturday. With all of my usual outdoor gear, camera equipment, and basic survival gear, i was carrying around 45 pounds and it fit great and felt fine. Never-mind the nay-sayers, even my Black Hawk packs have tough zippers. The bag is well worth the 30 bucks and more. I'm really shocked and all my buddies at REI were really surprised, too. I'll update this if I have any issues later.

I purchased this backpack for my 16 year old son who plays airsoft. I haven't noticed any problem with the stitching, but the zippers, especially internal zippers, are a bit on the cheap side. that being said, for 30 dollars it does the job.

This is the best value backpack I've found. It is built very solid. Compression straps are awesome and with four if you have a zipper blow out you won't lose all your stuff. Lots of room with great load spreading straps and back support. Can't decide which color? Get one of each; at this price you can't beat it! Perfect for work, school, travel or BOB/GHB/GOOD bags.

    March 18, 2013

I have 2 of these. One from another company (bag is called Red Rock 3-day) and one from LAPG. I loved the design and the durability, I don't need 100 pockets so this was perfect. Then my son usurped it for use as his school bookbag. I spent months trying to find another, and finally found it here. I was dismayed when the day my new one came, my son came home and said his had ripped. The seam had come undone where the shoulder straps attach. I sewed it back together with some really tough thread, and he's been good to go for a few weeks. I inspected my new bag, and it is constructed differently. The first bag has the shoulder straps attached to the pack with the seam on the main back panel. On the new pacy, the shoulder straps go through the back panel and are sewn into a three-way "yoke" piece of strapping, with heavily repeated stitching at the stress points. I'm no tailor, but you can see this is a much more heavy-duty design. Also I should not that after 7 months of being dragged to middle school each day, my son's pack still looks great, no holes and no de-lamination of the fabric. Overall, and excellent pack for the money, roomy and tough. You'll want to look over the seams and if you have the straps installed like my first one, give those seams a going over with some heavier thread for good measure. I don't mind investing my time like this if I feel its a good product, and in this case, I believe it is. Still thinking of adding one more as a BoB. Oh, the 1st bag was coyote, the 2nd was OD, not sure of the design change has anything to do with color...
    LOVE IT!!

I bought this bag 4 years ago. the only complaint was the top of the bag, by the handle, the stiching came undone. I had it fixed and it has been great since. It has served me through 3 deployments and several friends have bought it too. they have had no complaints. am buying a second one now.

    March 16, 2013

I bought this to use as an emergency/bug out bag for my car. Holds all that I need with room to spare. Material and build quality seems pretty solid. I haven't loaded it to it's maximum capacity, but its doing pretty well with about 25lbs of gear. The insides look a bit "unfinished" and I wish the sternum strap could be adjusted to ride lower than it does when the bag is full, but it's not too bad as is. The price makes it worth while. I do feel I got more than what I paid for.

    March 16, 2013

The bag is sturdy with plenty of storage. I use it for an everyday bag and love it. The only issue is the zipper is a little tight and has to be broke in a bit but if you fold back the rain flap it's fine. But for the money it cannot be beat. I would recommend this bag to anyone. I gave it a 5 for price vs value even with the tight zipper.

I bought this for pt gear and book bag all in one. Needed something large. A police officer who carries a lot of stuff. I like the bag but wish it had an inner pocket or sleeve that would hold an 8x10 book etc. only inner compartment is a mesh pocket that is small. The two front pockets aren't large enough. The other thing and I may be squabbling here is the thing keeps tipping over forward when placed on floor. It's annoying. It does it when it's full and the majority of the weight is at the bottom. Hmm

    March 11, 2013

I am afraid this pack leaves me with mixed emotions. I bought one only two months ago for a carry on bag flying each week. The bag is nice looking and comfortable, but terribly cheap in construction as it is ripping apart in about two months. Upgrading to a different brand and higher price point. This is a great bag if it is to be packed away and used in an emergency only once or twice. Daily use is too much for this pack.
Seems like a bargain at first

    March 06, 2013

Price is right, and initial impression is that the material is rugged and sturdy, and it is. The stitching is the problem. I saw another reviewer mention that his pocket literally ripped off, so I pulled on outside upper pouch of the bag. I immediately heard a ripping sound, the pouch started to seperate from the bag! I'd challenge anyone who plans on using this for anything other than light use to try this with your bag. For $29, it's not worth the hassle of sending back, but it now just sits with no purpose.

Other side notes: the bag is HEAVY, and that's not a good thing. Back straps and waiste straps are ok, not great but not awful.

    February 02, 2013

I have had two of these packs now, both have ripped out or the seam unraveled. The first one ripped out at the bottom of the bag where the shoulder strap is sewn into the seam of the bag. I figured it was because I slung it on that shoulder the most and all of my gear being toted daily, which is quite heavy, must have done it.

The second one unraveled on the top pouch, which is where I keep my electronic gear. I can honestly say the same amount of gear was in both bags, the top pouch is RARELY used, I access only on occasion, every 2 months at best. It literally ripped away from the main bag for no reason. I'm disappointed but I am aware that you get what you pay for.

    San Jose. CA
    January 25, 2013

LAPG has a great pack with great features. The material is very sturdy and durable. The stitching is strong and will not come apart without some serious use and abuse. The pack is great to stray your first bug out bag. It will hold a lot of supplies and equipment. Great for a family day hike with kids to hold MREs drinks and gear. The molle is generous and standard for these packs. Straps are very comfortable and adjustable toft a variety of body shapes. This pack is comparable to the CamelBak Motherlode (Gen1) and can accomodate the hydration bladder and tubing. Great gear for the price. That being said be sure you pick the color you want. I ordered the coyote brown and it is different from what you see on the computer screen. The molle straps and seams are a darker dried blood brown color. It gives an accent sort of effect. They are not the same color as the main fabric. This was not a deal breaker as I bought it for the function not the fashion. Beware the LAPG bail out bag in coyote is also this strange color combo. If you want a more homogenous color stick to the olive or black packs. Didn't matter to me much but for you hunter/camo folks this maybe a reason to pick the other colors.

The only thing I dont like is even after alot of use and wear, the zippers are a little stiff

    January 09, 2013

I ordered this bag as a 'Get Home Bag' for my car trunk. As it was not intended as a long-term backpacker, I figured it looked about right for size and price. Was I surprised at how sturdy this is when it arrived! Wow! It is very heavy duty nylon, stitching is superb, reinforcements every place they might make a difference. My only gripe would be the zipper--would have preferred a YKK, but hey, for the money? This is hands down THE SINGLE BEST VALUE I have ever seen in a product like this. Be a little patient with the zipper don't force it heavily by pulling on the tabs, and this bag will last you several lifetimes. Great size for boots, extra clothes, water, fire starter, sidearm, a few tools and first aid kit. Just about the perfect GHB product, in my opinion. HIGHLY recommended!

I have just received this bag and so far so good. I haven't used it out in the rough yet, but plan to do so soon. The material is quite stiff, holding its shape even when empty. January 05, 2013

The size of the backpack is perfect. Its not overly big and not too small. THe amount of things you can put inside is phenomenal; however, I didn't like how rough the zippers were when opening and closing the back pack. I have a 5.11 backpack (72 hours) and the zippers on that is unbelievably smooth - pretty much no effort to open and close.
    Comparable to top brands

I have this bag and a 5.11 bag of the same size. I love them both. The 5.11 bag has more dividers inside each compartment, but the LAPG bag gives the feeling that it will be a far tougher, longer lasting bag. I'm very happy with my purchase and with the great price that comes with it.

I have been looking at backpacks for some time. In the stores I find hard core expedition type packs for crazy amount of money or wimpy packs for still high prices. This pack is perfect ! Tactical but not crazy military. The straps are wonderful and make the pack very stable. After a few minutes you almost forget it's on ! I gave one to my 12 years old grandson for Christmas (who also keeps looking at backpacks) He screamed when he seen it ! It made him so happy. It's a little on the big size for him but not bad ! LOOK AT THE PRICE ! WHAT A DEAL !

Great bags! I got one of these about a year ago and have had no issues. Excellent bag, I use it for all of my temp duties and deployments. Work well for military as well as police! I got a couple others for bail out bags as well. At the sale price, you can't beat the value. Good job LA

I bought the bag as an extra, the price was low enough to make it a good deal. Not fully sure of its construction. I still need to put it through some travel and carring a load. So far it seems to be working out. Not sure if it is better then the normal chinese construction standards which in my opinion is low.

As far as gear bags go, this one has fewer pouches and fiddly bits than other packs, but the pouches are large. The zippers are stiff when you first get them, and the covers bit that hides the zippers and keeps moisture out make the zippers hard to use at first.
When you put the bag on, it feels small compared to other rucks, and it's honestly disconcerting at first, but you get used to it. The waist strap isn't removable (which I find a bother) and I usually don't have the bag full enough to need to use it. I'd still like a MOAB 10 from 5.11, but this LAPoliceGear pack replaces other competitors equivalents (like, say, 5.11 and Maxpedition). One last point is that the sternum strap feels high, so if you have long ribcage and 42" or larger chest, the sternum-straps will tend to ride up almost to your throat - you can fix this by unlacing them and installing them one set of loops down.
4 instead of 5 stars for the zippers, lack of a dedicated hydration pouch and the waist straps being less than useful. A great bag to get - I have two.

    January 04, 2013

So far, I bought 3 of these backpacks. I like the fabric, the shoulder straps, the semi-rigid frame/pad, the waist belt. I have used the bags for international travel and weekend camping trips. With additional MOLLE attached, I've comfortably carried over 40 pounds of gear in or on the bag.

One issue I've had is when the bag was loaded and the weather got cold. As the fabric got cold, the stitching on an outer pocked ripped away from the zipper about 6" long. I was able to sew the zipper back on, and so far I've only seen this quality issue on one of the 3 bags I own.

For the money, you can't beat this bag. It is great for weekend trips or as an airline carry-on. If you were hiking for a week and could not afford an equipment failure, I would not choose this bag.

I have only used the bag a a carry-on for flights, but I have been pleased with the bag.
I particularly like the hydation pouch area in the back by the padding, it is useful for carrying thin books and documents without getting wrinkled.
The pouches are generous in size and the compression straps sure help make the bag noticbly thinner.
I do recommend this bag for people looking for a carry-on backpack.

Very tough material (stiff). I'm not worried about the bag ripping that's for sure. Zippers are slow to zip, but large and robust as as stated before. Lots of pockets and molle. Comparable to my 511 rush 12 but with a waist strap. Great deal for the money. I'm using mine for snowmobiling, the 511 for patrol. This bag could easily be used for patrol with no worries. Get the bag it's a great deal!

I bought this bag as a truck/Go/BOB bag to replace the one that I currently have. After receiving it, and looking through it,.. I kept the old bag and gave this one away... for the price there are others out there with more features and better stitching. The one plus is it did come with a web waist belt. If you are looking fora basic bag with no organizers etc. this will work, but if you want/need one that has more features, then you might want to look at another option.

I have several LAPG produced "OPERATOR" packs and they are first rate gear. The "3 DAY PACK" is kind of a "little brother" of the Operator and has really impressed me as far a quality build, value and flat out utility! This is a great 3 day pack especially for the low cost to get into it. You can spend a LOT more on other big tactical brands but I'm not sure that you really get any more that what you'd get with this one. Don't let the low price fool you, it is worth getting.

I have bought two of these bags. I used the first one for everything. Burned it on the ATV muffler 2 deer seasons ago. Finally, I didn't secure it properly on my motorcycle and is slid down and almost fell off the bike. The tire rubbed a large hole in it and I finally had to buy another one. I'm hard on stuff but this bag was tough and durable. It just didn't survive the fall from the motorcycle. Got a new one for Christmas. Great price.

I bought two of these. One as a range bag for an AR PISTOL. The other for a bail out bag.

The bag is mad out of extremely tough material; I'm not worried about anything breaking. Ever.

I am large (6'1" and 230 lbs) and the bag fits me perfectly. It is comfortable to wear when its full and you use the belt strap and chest strap. I imagine it would be no problem to hike for days w this if you need to.

There is ample room for storage, and the internal space has divisions w zippers, so you don't just have only a huge empty space; though, you could easily use it as a large empty space if you wished.

Overall, a great bag. When you factor in that its $30, it becomes an unbelievable bag!

The one negative is that, since the bag is so durable and rough, the zippers can he hard to initiate. So for somebody who needs lightning fast access, there may be better options.

    December 31, 2012

This is the 2nd LA Police Gear pack I have purchased and I am very pleased with the quality of the bag compared to the price. It is the best value I have found and is just as good as any 5.11 or Condor pack. You can buy 2 of these for what 5.11 charges for 1 of thiers.

This pack has MOLLE on the back and sides and strong big zippers. There are only three compartments but it holds a ton of gear. It has a water resistant interior but lacks a pouch for a water bladder, but you can rig one with some ingenuity.

I like the carry handle and the straps which support anything you stuff in there and keeps the load secure around your hips for long distance carrying.

Great pack, great value! Worth the money!

This bag exceeds expectations, especially for the price. This is not a "cheap bag", this is a GOOD bag for cheap. I don't know how they do it, really... it's a good size, very sturdy for the price, solid in every way... I liked the first one so much I bought another. Excellent for short bugout, camping, emergency gear for a vehicle, motorcycling, you name it... any place you need a solid, reliable bag. Buy it... you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I bought one of these in black to use for bug out but after feeling how heavy duty the fabric is and the immense amount of room and expand-ability it has, I use it everyday. I take my clothes to and from the gym, then pack it up for travel to and from work (internationally). There's almost nothing that I can't fit into this bag and it is extremely comfortable to wear through the airports. I would recommend this bag a few times over!

I've had the OD Green model for a couple of years now. I've used it to carry a lot of gear and clothes. Every time I pack it is to the max. The stitching and the zippers have held really well. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because of the size. For some reason I was expecting it to be a little bigger (I know it shows the dimensions under product description). But, dont let that discourage you from getting one. The bag still of a good size.

Can't believe I was going to spend $150plus on an EMERGENCY BOB. This bag does the trick. Only complaint.. Zipper is a little stiff on the top, but I am sure it will loosen up with time. I issue these bags to all of my employees that we deploy to War Zone areas. While it may not be as rugged as a SOC or some of the other comparable bags out there, the price truly cannot be beat. December 03, 2012

I bought this as a potential BOB but more for a specific trip I had to take where I needed more room. I will admit that the price is what got me to buy it. I own several Maxpedition bags that are much higher quality but I did not want to spend $200 on yet another bag. Bottom line: You cannot go wrong for $30 as long as you are realistic. By that I mean this bag is not something I would take on a deployment but for almost everyday use or travel, it is great. I just used it again for travel, throwing it around, stuffing it in and yanking it out of car trunks, aircraft, and airports, including tossing it around and through TSA security checks - all while loaded up with clothing, computer and various electronics and with a couple of additional pouches attached via MOLLE.

So far so good. If I wanted to have a more reliable bag for everyday or rough use, I would probably get something better but for occasional or limited use, it's a good bag.

    November 30, 2012

I would not use this for any kind of rough use or regular use. What I do use it for is my 72 hour disaster bug out bag. I have one under my work desk and one in my home closet - both full of essentials (as per Ready.gov or whatever) in case of a disaster and I've got to evacuate or get home. For EDC and outdoor adventure I get higher-end bags of course. I would be silly-headed to keep a $300 bag under my desk for emergencies only.

On receiving this pack I was amazed at the seemingly hi quality of it. The value for the price cannot be beaten. I used it to carry a uniform, water bottle and my sidearm to on on my Monday. Nothing more than that. After only a few months the stitching came out near the top. It was not an area crucial to the use of the pack so I did not worry about it. Now there is another area also unraveling. I am guessing this is an anomaly and not status quo as the pack and LAPG really seem to back this thing. Hopefully they will help me out and I will update this review accordingly.

Hopefully I am the anomally here seeing all the other great reviews. I bought two of these bags, one for, daily use a dmthe other as backup. After a couple of weeks the daily use bag started to fray. LAPG was kind enough to replace it. Then the replacement bag started to fray several months later. I'm using my backup bag now and keeping an eye on it. Hopefully it will hold, but I'm not inclined to buy another one of these.

Nearly all of our club member have a coyote bag, and I just want to say: This bag is awesome. The bag itself is large enough to handle both our daily use and outdoor activities, and beside this, it's tough and badass. All those MOLLEs are good for carrying extra gears. The only thing has to be careful about is that the stitching of right shoulder will come off a bit after rough use for a while, so some reinforcement is required. But this doesn't affect my overall rating at all.

I bought this bag about a year ago to carry my gear on SWAT calls and its awesome, especially for the price. The pockets are large and can fit a wide variety of items. I've got 2 of these bags, one in coyote and the other black. Couldn't be happier with the coyote pack, have used it extensively in and out of the field. Has held up great. The black one on the other hand is crap! Took it with me to training for 3 weeks, I only wore it on a daily basis mind you, no abuse of any kind! Only picked it up and put it on my back, after 3 weeks of this it came apart at the stitching on the very top of the main compartment! Was very disappointed by this as I now have a 4 inch hole in the top! Great pack though if you get the right one.

I thought this product was so good, I ordered another. One cannot go wrong for the price/quality. I have a black colored one and a green colored one. The black one holds my tactical vest and other related items, while the green is for vacation/holiday use. Zippers all work, thick material, overlaps on zippers to make it water resistant. Even my wife took a look and liked it.
