Having preformed this procedure many times, I think the 10 gauge is a better choice, because frequently in blast or blunt trauma, it may require multiple 14 gauges to adequately relieve the tension. The video mentions, consider protecting or stabilize the hub protruding from the chest wall, as they are often snagged during transport or transfer of patient."
