    Blackhawk SpecOps II stock
    August 27, 2014
As usual LA Police Gear shipped me this item very quickly for a low rate, that alone gets them a few stars. The stock was failrly easy to install with the exception that an allen wrench to attach the actual shotgun to the grip was missing. Blackhawks fault not LA Police Gear. There were two allen wrenches in the package for smaller attachements just not the primary one. The stock seems solid and yet not as heavy as some other brands I have tried. I have not shot the weapon yet with the new stock. Overall it is a good product and I would recomend it.
    Pros:
Easy to install, Light weight with good fit and function (minus the actual live fire). Quality material.
    Cons:
Missing larger allen wrench for the stock bolt plus I have not fired it yet and that is why it is only four stars.

    Temper your expectations
    April 5, 2014
I'm going to preface this review by saying that this is merely my personal experience, as with all products of this nature, your mileage may vary. In terms of installation, I am relatively new to firearms in general, this did take me about an hour and a half to install on my Mossberg 500 Persuader. Could it be done faster, sure as long you are knowledgeable and experienced with this type of thing. To me it felt pretty secure once it was installed, I didn't feel worried about it just falling off or anything like that. While at the range with a friend we both found the adjustable stock very handy, since we're both very different in both shape and size. We used a variety of shotshells to really put this thing through its paces. We started off with some of the standard brown box military grade 00 buckshot (1325fps) by Olin Corp., the felt recoil was not bad at all, however, the cheek slap problem that is the main criticism of this product did occur. Afterward we loaded up some Remington Slugger Rifled Slugs (1560fps) and let loose with that. Again the felt recoil was not bad at all, but the cheek slap was more pronounced. We decided to go the other way and load up some of the Federal Premium Law Enforcement Ammunition TACTICAL LE13200 (1145fps) and of course the recoil was the easiest to manage while the cheek slap was the most minimal we had observed so far. At this point our conclusion seemed pretty obvious, if you use high fps shotshells (1500-1600fps and beyond) we definitely got cheek slapped, however we did notice the felt recoil was manageable. Use standard fps shotshells (1300fps give or take) and you will feel a slight cheek slap but the felt recoil is subdued. It seemed that this stock worked best with the low recoil shotshells (anything less than 1300fps), the felt recoil was slight and the cheek slap was minimal. Just to make sure none of these were flukes we used different brands of shells as well: Hornady Zombie Max 00 buckshot (1600fps), Hornady Critical Defense 00 buckshot(1600fps), Federal Premium Vital Shok Tru-Ball rifled slug (both the 1300fps and 1600fps), Federal Power Shok 00 buckshot (both 1140fps and 1325fps), Remington Managed Recoil Slugger rifled slugs (1200fps), Winchester Super X rifled slug (1600fps), Fiocchi Exacta Aero Slug (1150fps), and Rio Royal Brenneke rifled slug (1410fps). They all behaved the same way as before, i.e. the felt recoil/cheek slap is dependent on the fps of the shells you are firing. Before buying this product, really think this through, what are you going to really want to use this for? Do that and temper your expectations, it is not wise to take all advertising/marketing at its word, this stock will obviously not be all things to all people. As for me, I am a novice shooter that is more comfortable with the lower recoil/standard recoil shotshells, so for me this product does help a lot with felt recoil, I just mind how close my cheek is to the stock before I start shooting the higher fps shotshells.
    Pros:
-Construction seemed sturdy, I'm not worried about this thing falling apart under normal use. -Adjustable stock makes it easier for shooters of different shapes and sizes to fire whatever it is attached to. -The attached Limbsaver pad did a good job of dealing with the felt recoil, its only slightly less effective than using a regular slip on or screw on pad.
    Cons:
-You will feel the much maligned cheek slap, however this is only with high fps (1500-1600fps and greater) shotshells, anything lower than that and you will be able to shoot all day with this thing. If you are able to aim your shotgun without your cheek hugging the stock, you may not even get cheek slapped, but if you are used to aiming it like a rifle you will undoubtedly feel it in varying degrees based on what kind of shotshell you use.

    Excellent product
    January 1, 2014
Was hesitent at first on this purchase due to earlier reviews but made contact with both L A Police Gear and Knoxx who gave me updated info regarding newly designed upgrades to this product. The item was very easy to order, very economical in comparison to other stocks on the market (through L A Police Gear and delivery was in a very timely manner. Very easy to install with clear directions, looks good and meets all my needs.
    Pros:
    Cost and design features.

    Did Not Perform As Advertised
    October 11, 2013
I purchased the Gen 1 stock several years ago through LAPG. Although I received the usual great level of service from LAPG, I cannot say the same about Blackhawk. First of all the unit did not nearly reduce the recoil as advertised and kicked like a mule. I had thought I was doing something wrong until I asked a LEO friend and a 3-gun competitor to try it out and he came to the same conclusion... it simply didn't as advertised and made you wonder what they did in order to film the product videos showing the "soft, reduced recoil" action. I contacted Blackhawk several times without a response then later saw on their website that the unit was no longer being offered (which in a round about way, indicated to me that the unit just didn't perform as advertised and they dropped it from their line). Now maybe this was at a time when Blackhawk was moving into their new factory, but it is no excuse for not answering emails or for providing such a low level of customer service. I was severely disappointed in the company, product and response and felt that for a company, whose motto is "Honor, as a way of life", with this product, they failed miserably.

    Broken, poor manufacture customer service
    September 14, 2013
I have the Gen 1 stock which worked great with over 500 rounds buckshot, slugs, bird etc. and I saw this Gen 2 with better ergonomics and design so I gave it a try. With proper installation I fired weak Bird shots less than 100 rounds. The stock recoil absorbing spring system broke. The pin retaining the spring ripped through the mounting points rending the system useless. I contacted Black Hawk and said they would send an RMA number. After two weeks of contacting them I have gotten nothing resolved except unanswered emails. I am glad I did not rely on this stock when my life was in danger. Very disappointing, great concept and features but poorly executed, looks like they went cheap on the polymer material and the design where the pin sits is very weak. So far a wasted $100+ stock system
    Pros:
    ergonomics and design
    Cons:
Poor material, weak pin supporting design. Poor customer service and support.

    Fore end did not fit
    December 8, 2012
I purchased this item for the mossberg 500. When I received the stock I made sure that it was for my weapon. When I put it together the fore end did not fit. It did not even come close. It took about an hour and a half for me to modify the fore end to fit.

what is the biggest difference between the original k04100-c model and he ops 2 ko7100-c model?
    on January 5, 2013

    Answer:
The biggest difference between the two was that the Gen II was made to correct the issue with the cam spring jumping the cam. This was caused by shooters failing to keep their left arm loose to allow the stock to cam back. By fighting the stock the jerking motion caused the failure.
