This little light is tough, bright and reliable. It has a tail cap flash switch that can also be a constant on switch which is exactly what I'm trained to use. It fits in the back pocket of my jeans or dress pants next to my wallet for plainclothes use. Although AA batteries don't last long in it, they are far less expensive and more accessible than the CR123's.
    Pros:
Low price High quality Reliable Bright
    Cons:
    AA battery doesn't last long

    Excellent light with unique features

Most lights these days have push button/electrical controls. The problem with this is that some can be hard to master and navigate in an instant. The L-1A2 has a tail clickie but can be set to operate as twist on light with it's rotating power level bezel. In this mode you would have to cycle through strobe, low, med, high but it is possible. In clickie mode you can rotate the bezel and leave it on the power level you want to start with. By loosening the twist on head a bit you can put the light in lock-out travel mode. The light appears to be very solid and has a well recessed (protected) rubber clickie with plenty of lanyard/attachment capability. The light also has an beveled anti roll bezel and excellent no slip grip. What does not appear in the pictures I've seen of this light is the very nice pocket clip which is not built in but replaceable as it snaps around the neck of the light.
    Pros:
Extremely easy (intuitive) to operate Well built Anti roll design removable pocket clip seemingly a pretty scalable small light
    Cons:
Not particularly water resistant rotating power level bezel does not appear to be lubricate-able
