Description
Aimpoint has removed restrictions on the sale of the Patrol Rifle Optic and this product is now available to all customers (Domestic Shipments Only)!

Please Note: The battery and adjustment cap retainer straps are no longer included. Aimpoint has updated the caps so they no longer require the strap.

Aimpoint Patrol Rifle Optic (PRO) is designed with input from a distinguished group of current and former professionals, the Patrol Rifle Optic incorporates many never before seen features to maximize this sight's performance within the challenging conditions faced by modern law enforcement. A hard-anodized 30mm tube was utilized, enclosing a high efficiency circuit that allows the sight to be turned on and left on for up to three years using a single battery.

The front lens utilizes a unique band-pass coating, which allows the sight to be used with all generations of night vision devices. The modular QRP2 mount includes a removable spacer that indexes the sight at the optimal height for co-witness with the standard iron sights on AR15/M16/M4 Carbine style weapons. This spacer can be removed to enable the use of the sight on police shotguns or sub-machineguns. The QRP2 mount also incorporates a torque-limiting twist knob that provides the optimal level of pressure on the rail while completely eliminating the possibility of over-tightening. Both the front and rear lenses are recessed within the sight body to provide protection against impact damage, scratches, and fingerprints.

Flip covers are included to further protect the lenses, and a transparent rear lens cover is utilized allowing the user to engage a target with the lens covers closed in an emergency situation. A two Minute of Angle (2 MOA) red dot is utilized to allow maximum accuracy at all distances and under all environmental conditions.

Unique features for the Aimpoint PRO Patrol Rifle Optic

    Aimpoint PRO
    September 1, 2016
I was immediately impressed with the robust design of this optic. It has a solid feel so I expect it to withstand any field use. This is a replacement for an EOTech HWS that I hated parting with due to its red dot design but I took advantage of L3's return program due to issues with some of their sights. When I first turned on the PRO I was a bit disappointed with having to adjust to the Aimpoint red dot. Once I mounted it on my SIG 556 rifle and took it out to the range, that all changed. The sight was very easy to site in. I sited in the PRO 1.2 inches low at 25yards and it was spot on at 200 yards. Hitting a steel plate at the 200 yard range was effortless. Another concern I had with buying the PRO was whether I would be able to use my EOTech 3x magnifier thinking the height above the rail might be an issue. Turns out it was a match made in Heaven! All I can say is I love my new Aimpoint PRO and you will too!!!
    Pros:
I have other Aimpoints......Micro H1 and T1. Love those two sights and love the PRO! What can I say but the design, simplicity of use, and robust design of these Aimpoint sites will cause me to purchase more Aimpoint products in the future. The folks at LA Police Gear are second to none. My online purchase experience with them has always been very positive with quick delivery, excellent customer service, product availability, and very competitive prices. I will continue to use LA Police Gear for future purchases!!!
    Cons:
Battery model, availability, and cost. I immediately ordered some spare batteries for the PRO on Amazon Prime. A 3-pack of Duracells for about $10.

Aimpoint's entry-level optic is still pricy at ~ $420, but worth every penny. Solid optic with the base and lense covers included. Rear cover is clear so user can still see the dot with the covers closed and both eyes open. The only reason to go more expensive is lose weight/size.
    Pros:
3-year batter life Rugged Mount and lense covers included NV compatible Switch/adjustments solid with good feedback
    Cons:
A little big and heavier than other (much more expensive) options

Very easy setup and adjustments before first use. First time using Aimpoint, it's a replacement for an Eotech I've used for years so hope I get good mileage out of it.

Duty grade optic at an unbeatable price.
    August 14, 2016
I have a few Aimpoint Pros and they have never let me down. Zero issues. 100% reliability. At the sale price, there is nothing on the market that can touch this RDS. 2 MOA dot Night vision brightness settings Regular dot brightness settings that are powerful enough to allow the shooter to see the dot in daylight bright conditions. Front housing is threaded for mil-spec anti-reflective devices Battery and turret cap retainers (no keeping track of small parts) Makes an ideal Home Defense optic as you can turn it to your desired brightness setting and store for over 3 years. I make it a point to change batteries once a year (even though the optic is rated at 3.4 years). Uses the industry standard 30mm tube so you can easily upgrade the mount. Mounting/unmounting optic does not require tools Comes with lens covers that are designed in a manner where the optic can still be deployed in an emergency with the covers flipped down. The lens cover closest to your eyes has a clear lens while the rear (closest to the muzzle) cover is opaque. As long as the optic has been left in a turned-on state (which it should be), you can bring the rifle up and shoot it as long as you are using a "both eyes open" technique. Your default "shooting eye" will see the red dot superimposed against the closed forward lens cover while you weak eye will see everything else. Your brain will combine the images that both eyes see and (if properly zeroed) the gun will hit anything the red dot is covering. Finally, the included mount spacer can be configured to afford the shooter with two mounting heights. One is close to a traditional absolute co-witness (on a M4/AR15 platform), and the other is close to a lower 1/3 co-witness sight picture (on a M4/AR15 platform). Aimpoint makes optics that go overseas and get smashed against rocks for years at a time while at the same time maintaining 100% reliability. It's military pedigree is very comforting to a civilian end-user who desires a 100% reliable optic for use in a life or death home defense setup.

    A bit heavy
    July 17, 2016
This is my third red dot, my other are Vortex. The scope is a bit heavy. The dot is not the perfect circle I was expecting. Vortex provide the same dot for a lot less. If the zombies come, you are shit out of luck to find that battery.
    Pros:
The battery last 3 years. It survived anything
    Cons:
Heavy. Unusual and hard to find battery. Not impressed w/ the dot

    Great Optic
    July 3, 2016
This optic lived up to the expectations and description. For the price you cannot go wrong! It is perfect for CQ and using the front and rear sights as co-witness, gives the confidence. This sight is not meant for far distances, but proved to be effective at 50 yards at a local range. Zeroing in the sight was pretty easy and used a short flathead screwdriver. Awesome Optic for the price and battery is estimated to last about 3 years with minimal setting used. Optic is always on!
    Pros:
Price Ease of set up Always on Long battery life Adjustment screw covers nice and secure
    Cons:
Wish the diameter of sight was a little bigger Availability of green dot would be great

    Easy to Use Red Dot
    June 27, 2016
Bought this to replace an EOTech. Very happy with overall purchase. Easy to mount, easy to zero in. Battery life is excellent. No issues with scope coming loose during firing or while riding around in a patrol car mount.
    Pros:
Perfect for AR platforms. Fits Picatinny rail. Solid construction.
    Cons:
Red dot needs to be turned up in bright sunlight. Flip open dust covers could cause delay in critical situations.

    Pros:
Easy to mount. Easy to zero. Excellent target acquisition.
    Cons:
Searching deep here, the tightening knob sticks out a little far. Just takes some getting used to.

    Q&A
    Ask a Question
By John on January 20, 2013
What in your opinion is the best aimpoint scope for a springfield M1A scout ? I will mount on the forward rail. will I need accessories?
    on January 20, 2013

    Answer:
If you are looking for a sight, you can't go wrong with the Aimpoint PRO, especially for the price. If you are in fact looking for a scope, it all depends on what you are going to use it for. This Aimpoint sight mounts via standard Picatinny rails, so you will not need any accessories to attach it.
