Customer reviews for the 5.11 Tactical EMS Women's Pant:

Best EMS pants on the market!

"I recently ordered a pair of the 5.11 EMS pants. All I can say is WOW! Lots of pockets, external stowage for my EMS shears, roll of tape, spare O2 wrench, pens, etc. After over 20 years in EMS, and countless pairs of various styles of EMS pant, Cargo Pants, I have finally found the EMS pants that beat everything hands down. All EMS professionals know that we tend to spend a lot of time kneeling, on floors, ground, back of the ambulance, crash scenes etc, and it's hard and many times very painful to the knees. I LOVE the built in knee pads. First shift I wore them, first call, I was kneeling on the side of a gravel road. During the call as I was reaching for some equipment I realized that for the first time in my life I wasn't shifting my body to relieve pressure off of my knees. I didn't feel the gravel grinding painfully on my kneecaps. The lower leg pockets are perfect for my field guide, spare gloves, and even in a kneeling postion easy to access those pockets. I tend to put my radio in my back pocket, where sometime it falls out. No longer will my radio fall out, deep back right pocket, and with it's design easy to grab my radio out of when I need it. The special EMS shear pockets, with both the velcro hook and loop and the snap keep my equipment secure, and still easy to get out and to return. If I loose another pair of shears it won't be because they fell out of the pocket. The deep cargo pockets are nice and large. I tend to keep them empty then depending on the call I stuff them with whatever I need at the time. So my first crash I was able to stuff, gauze, tape, kling, even some backboard straps in them, and there was plenty of room. I was pretty rough on them the first day I wore them, and they took it all. I believe that I will get more life out of a pair of 5.11 EMS pants than any other EMS pants I have worn before. Years ago I paid over 60 bucks for a pair of pants that I wore out in just a couple of months. The way these pants wear, I think I will be able to get a couple of years wear out of them, which makes them a fantastic bargain. I will never buy anything but 5.11 Tactical for my EMS needs!!!"

Never even tried them on yet, but I love'm

"I recently attended the Baltimore Fire / EMS Expo last month and was very happy to see the 5.11 Tactical booth there. I spent a very long time with the 5.11 Tactical rep discussing my thoughts on his product and others similar to it. My concerns were pants. I have never found a pair of EMS pants that can hold up. I was very impressed that 5.11 Tactical had a NEW Fire / EMS line of clothing and equipment. I have not yet had a chance to use my 5.11 Tactical EMS pants, but if there anything like the current TDU pants I use then this item will be nothing short of extrodinary and dependable. Which is what I have come to find with all of 5.11 Tactical's products and service. Please 5.11, keep up the outstanding work and service."

    The review I would want
    Colorado Springs, CO
    December 15, 2012

So I have never done a review of anything I purchased online before. Whether I loved it or hated it was something I kept to myself, returned if needed, and moved on with my life. I wanted to write this one because when purchasing anything on line, I always read the reviews, especially clothing. I want to know how the item fit, what body shape and weight the persone is, what they didn't like or wished was better, and what they are comparing the item to. So here goes, and I hope it's helpful.

First me: I am 5'8, 130-ish lbs, and believe I am disproportionate because my legs seem longer than they should be. I have an athletic build, and I buy jeans from Lucky Brand or Abercrombie and Fitch. The normal sizes I wear are a comfortable size 4, or a "I haven't eaten for two days so I can squeeze into" a size 2. I usually purchase a long and never have a problem with the cuffs dragging. When I wear shoes or boots, I tend to get a double break, which is what I like.

Before buying these pants, I owned two pair of Aspen Mills size 8R and standard issue EMS pants, The Force, size 10. I prefered the Aspen Mills because they fit and had room around the waist so I didn't feel like I had to suck in all the time. The Force pants fit as well, with a bit more room, but not as much as I would expect a two size difference to have. The Force pants were more baggy, but sometimes a girl likes that. The Aspen Mills pants were more slim fitted, and sometimes a girl likes that as well. Regardless, after three years of cycling through these pants in a busy 911 system, it was time to retire them and move on.

I ordered the size 8 long 5.11 Tactical Women's because I wanted pants that wouldn't feel like highwaters, and I wanted a size that would be comfortable on my "not so skinny" days. From the normal sizes I wear listed above, I first thought an 8 would be too big. IT IS NOT. These pants fit, with less wiggle room than my Aspen Mills size 8 pants, but I'm still not sucking in. On my "not so skinny" days of the month, I will say they feel a bit tight, but nothing terribly uncomfortable. There is room in the thighs for manueverablity and I never feel like I'm going to pop a stitch in them when I'm squatting trying to intubate someone. Nothing rides up, which is a beautiful plus. I get a double break from the cuffs when i wear my boots, and in just my socks the cuffs touch the ground near the heel.

These pants are also heavy...like they are bending my plastic hangers so I had to switch to a wooden hanger, heavy. Some of you may not like it, for me, it doesn't make much of a difference. I don't pack my pants for a three week survival trip either. Just a pair of shears, my carpuject, a pharmacopia, coffee money, and some gloves.

I have only worn these pants for a couple of weeks now, so I haven't utilized every pocket (and there are a lot), but should I ever find myself in a situation where I need one, I feel comfortable that I won't feel stranded. I like the fastener and velcro straps on the cargo pockets. the double protection is nice and I haven't lost a pair of shears yet! As far as the material goes, awesome! I spilled a lot of coffee, water, normal saline, D50 (I promise I'm not that clumsy), and blood on these, and it either just flows off, or comes off after a quick spritz of cavicide.

I would recommend these pants to anyone who likes quality and style. Like I said, it's only been a couple of weeks, but I know these pants are going to last. Yes, they are expensive. I probably looked at these pants for almost a year before I broke down and bought some, but I believe them to be worth it.
